Retain raster image transparency when pasting
Copy/pasting a transparent image from a browser imports transparent pixels as black which ruins most icons etc. Saving the image as a png and importing does not do this so it seems to be a bug with pasting rather than a fundamental issue rendering transparent rasters.

Confusing repeated profile mismatch warning
When drag and drop is used to place an image into an Illustrator document that has a color profile that is different than the image, Illustrator will link the image and will not warn for the profile difference, even if the profile mismatch warning is checked in the Color Settings.
Using the Place command it will give you a warning about the Profile mismatch.
When the document is saved and opened, Illustrator will start to warn for an Embedded Profile Mismatch and say that the document has an embedded profile that does not match the current RGB Working Space.

Image resolution differs depending on image orientation
When placing an image in Illustrator, the image format is HEIC, and in portrait mode or landscape: The landscape picture shows the amount of ppi as 1 logical number. The portrait mode picture shows 2 numbers for ppi, and they are totally different.

BMP bitmaps are seen as RGB, lose transparency and cannot be coloured in 28.5
Place a .BMP 1 bit file in AI 28.5. It is seen as RGB and cannot be coloured.

Unable to place image files of any kind into Art Illustrator
Illustrator v 28.4.1
When trying to place or drag an image file into AI I get the error message "unknown format and cannot be opened" or "in a format which can not be placed". These are all existing files that I have used many times. I tried EPS, JPG, and PNG. It will not allow any new images. In addition, the image files in my existing files are now broken. Attached are the errors I am getting for the new files1 vote -
Embedding images in SVG is not working
I'm trying to embed some images in my SVG. When I do the process by clicking on the menu option "Embed images", it looks like it's working, but after saving and closing the file, when I reopen it, the image is linked not embedded.
I tried with AI 2021 and 2024, but it also happened with other files.

Drag and Drop from Photoshop Not Working
Illustrator Version 28.3, Photoshop Version 25.5.1
Attempting to drag and drop a layer from photoshop into illustrator and the object is not appearing in illustrator. I can usually do this with no issues. I've tried rasterizing and making the image a smart object but nothing seems to fix the bug. This has just been an issue within the past 2 days.
2 votesThe issue is believed to be fixed with Photoshop release 25.7.
Please test it and comment back if it now works.

Nested Linked AI Files don’t display proper fonts
Nested or linked AI files inside other AI layouts are not letting the fonts come through. It renders to default font.
1 voteAs per the comment, the issue was with a font manager program (this time Typeface for Mac specifically), and fonts not being fully activated.

Color profiles are silently discarded for the placed screenshot thumbnails on Mac
Can we fix the strange discarding of the color profile when dragging a screenshot thumbnail into an open Illustrator document (Mas OS — Command+shift+4, or Command+shift+3, or Command+shift+5). The thumbnail appears in the corner of the screen prior to the screenshot being saved to the Desktop.
Using File>Place, or copying/pasting from any other program, or even dragging and dropping a screenshot from the desktop or other folder all cue a warning if there is a profile mismatch. And to my experience, placing in any of those ways does not change the document profile, regardless of what I choose when the…

Before crashing, it loses the preview and can't be restored until closing and reopening the file. But even so, the crash is coming.1 vote -
Can't Link PDF
Cannot link PDF into an AI file. When opening the file an Unknown error is detected. Help us investigate further....
However opening Illustrator in a Intel based version on the M1 mac it will open without issue. However as this feature apparently is going to be removed it will cause major issues for me.
This needs to be fixed.1 vote -

Using blending modes with embedded images now gives darker colors
In version 28 transparency in embedded images doesn't work the same way it worked in version 27, thus making impossible to use older files with the new version.
Transparency (as in soft light, overlay...) gives a different result, usually darker, flatter.
Looks like the issue is with embedded images, not linked, but since I need to use images in patterns I need to embed them.1 vote -

Embedding linked EPS files in an over-sized artboard cause them to shrink to 10% and moves
When using an over-sized artboard, when I embed a linked .EPS - the .eps is scaled down to 10% of the original size AND it is moved to a seemingly random location on the artboard. This only happens with .EPS files. .AI and bitmap files are fine - they stay in the correct location and correct size.

The "Placement options" in the document have been replaced with the computer's final settings
I placed an 'img-1.ai' picture in Document-A with the placement option set to Bounding Box.
After saving and closing it, I created a new document, Document-B.
In Document-B, I placed the 'img-2.ai' picture with the placement option set to Bleed.
After saving and closing Document-B, I reopened Document-A.
The placement option for 'img-1.ai' had changed to Bleed. Why does the placement option not follow the document but instead follows the last-used setting?
If I send the document to the client, they will see the incorrect layout.2 votes -
