Can't save files in Catalina
With the new OS Catalina, Illustrator no longer can save, save as or export any file. This is a critical issue. Not sure how it would be missed in testing. is it a known issue and being worked on?
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 24.0.0
For the issue where you are encountering “An unknown error has occurred” while saving the document then please go to the following link to track the status of this issue:

I deleted all deletable PDF presets from Edit -> Adobe PDF presets -> list.
Everything is OK now. -

I've found that I can save as eps/svg, just not as an AI. Its a work around but not ideal. I also have the latest release and it is not fixed. FYI have downloaded the patch and have latest versions - still happening

Illustrator does not respond or open a window when clicking Save, Save As, Save As Copy. Happened after I updated to Catalina OS. Tried Updating, Re-installing and restarting

Same issue, files will not save, save as, or export, I get this error code every time no matter what I do. PLEASE fix this now!!! Clients have jobs that need to get out and I can't save their files for them. Not impressed whatsoever. >:(

This wasn't happening until yesterday for me, so the fix didn't seem to hold. Among "save as" the other commands like "Save as copy", "Save as template", "open", "place", etc will all not work either.

I've downloaded and installed the prerelease link and it didn't work.
Huge glitch, and super frustrating. I'm loosing valuable work time, and projects are getting delayed. -

This link is no longer working but the bug persists! How can people get the advanced build? When is it being patched?

I downloaded the BETA Illustrator fix for Catalina and I still appear to be having issues opening my previous AI files. See attachment error message.

I posted an AppleScript to the Illustrator Forum that saves the document. This might work as a runaround until the problem gets fixed. (I tested it with a graph selected which causes the save condition to become disabled and it worked.) Can't guarantee it will work for other "save disabled" conditions. If anyone needs help with the script they can contact me..

Thanks, everyone for providing us the details around this which helped us react faster. As already mentioned by Raghuveer, we have fixed this issue. This fix should address all the issues reported in this thread. Please refer to Raghuveer's post below on how to access the fix via our PreRelease program: https://www.adobeprerelease.com.

Whoever wants to save your work as an image, just go save for web, preview in browser, right click and save. Second option is just wait, click save and go make some tea and relax, dont click anything just wait, it takes me 5-10 minutes to save it as pngs, do not force stop application or do anything, a little patience, but yeah Adobe gotta fix it already, Illustrator is the only app I use from my subscription and it makes a little sense to pay for something that barely works, give us a refund for a month, lol, I know you wouldn't do that but still. I've recieved my lesson to always save the workspace before trying to export images. I hope my advice helps, but if you re on this thread it probably means you've lost your work already.

What's going on here!? I lost a huge project due to this.. So frustrating to not be able to do the simplest things. I have a business to build / run... Does anyone know a solid alternative?

Thanks for your hard work.
Sadly tho, "few" scenarios means all our MacBooks Pro of the office. So we are not using anymore Illustrator since Catalina's dayone. I don't know if we will switch back.
Personally I belive this will be "fixed" with the new major release of Illustrator. Which is a bit sad, because we are paying costumers since the first CC...
