Adobe Illustrator 2025 - 29.7.1 (64bits)

When i press Ctrl+S or just click "save" on a file, the status change to "saving..." and wont end, if I try to save as I cant and a pop up message saying that "file is saving right now, try it again when process is complete" and nothing more happens. I'm losing a lot of time!!!!! and work!!!!

No results, i have to force close illustrator process.

Every time I try to save my file it seems Illustrator does it but the * at the end of the file name still on.
When I try to close the file the warning comes up with "Do you want to save before closing?" and when you click SAVE, the window closes but the file still opened and UNSAVED. The only workaround I found is force quit and hope the autosave has done its job but this is unacceptable from a payment software!

Illustrator generates an error when saving the file. Sometimes, after working for a while, this error occurs, completely blocking the file and forcing me to force close the program. This has caused me to lose my work progress. After reopening Illustrator, I can save without issue, but the error reappears later. Please help me resolve this error. Thank you.

I have to keep constantly overwriting my files since the latest update to the desktop app. This needs to be patched immediately, this is a total nightmare. (My Os is as up to date as possible, too.)

I click save or use the keystroke and it literally doesn't save, and leaves the file open, stopping the program from quitting. Also tried to un-install and re-install and no luck.

This is a critical bug, it really needs a patch asap.

I was working on Illustrator Desktop (newest version), and for some reason, the file that i working on (just have 2 artboard only) just kept showing "saving" for +30 minutes. It didn't stop saving, even when i pressed the button stop saving 3 times, it still doing nothing. And it won't let me close the program because the file is still on saving.

We have a made a fix for this issue and it is available in Beta. Please pick up the Beta build from Beta Apps section on Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know if it resolves the issue.

We are going to roll out the fix in a release very soon.

Since updating to 29.7.1 it's just been horrible. Here's one I can't find other bug reports on: Sometimes Adobe Illustrator won't save files before closing, and I'm stuck in an endless loop, until I select “don't save”.

MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90).

Is there a way to revert updates? I want to go back to when I could go to options to choose units and keyboard increment, and didn't have AI popups for every feature.

This seems to be happening again. I will save a file and the asterisk does not disappear. Then, when I make a change to the file and save again, it does. It is not consistent.

Bug: I'm unable to close a file in Illustrator, it remains unsaved after I try save it trough short cut or menu option. The only way to close it is by doing "Save as" or close without saving. Anyone as reported this same bug? and if so can you please forward to me if it as a solution or any information about it.

The files never finish saving. I need to send AI down to be able to close the windows. then the files open in recover. Not all files do the same.

Workaround is to copy layers (paste remembers layers) to a new document and save that. This cost me 6 hours of sleep. Literally. Thanks for that Adobe.

File saving Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop isnt working properly. The file isn't saving while the toolbar continuously dsiplays saving. seems like a background saving bug restrains current open document from saving

I just had the same issue - had to force close AI (version 29.7.1 64 bit). Before I did this, I copied the layers to AI beta, which saved my changes. Previously, I noticed that Save didn't work with AI and I had to use Save As and save over the file I was working on (equal to hitting save).

I have a error message every time I open AI that I have asked about but never received a response on (different bug report). This may or may not be connected. I attached a screenshot of the error message.

After saving the AI beta file, I reopened AI 29.7.1 and the file was now able to save okay. I then turned off the Optimize save feature. Hard to know if this is a fix or just a temporary reprieve from this very annoying issue. I will work in beta for a while. Hopefully an update will fix this soon.

I use Windows 11 64 bit operating system. PC desktop.

After working on a design, I hit on ctrl-S or Save and ctrl-x to exit but it's opening up a dialogue box saying to save before closing. I will click on yes but it won't close and when I t ry to close, the dialogue box will show up again. The only work around I can do right now and Save As > replace the existing file. Then it will close.

Hi, my junior designer is having this exact issue. When she goes to save the file saves however it then says "saving" and gets stuck at that stage. She can't cancel or quit without having to force quit. We have uninstalled the latest version and instead installed 29.6.1 which has solved the issue.

The operating system is macOS Sequoia 15.6.1, and happens with every file, different file sizes, so she could no longer work at all with this version 29.7.1. Image attached of example.

Mac OS 15.6 - open files show they need to be saved, but when I click save, nothing changes. I can still work but I can't save the file. I've had to force quit several times now.

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

What operating system and version are you on (e.g., Windows 11, macOS Sequoia 15.0, etc.)?

Does this happen with all files or only specific ones? If specific, what’s the approximate file size and type of contents (images, text, linked assets)?

Did you notice this issue starting after a particular update?

This will help us narrow down the cause and suggest next steps.
