1. A hotkey to make the Transform tool only transform fill patterns.

   When dragging with the selection or direct selection tools, or using the rotate, and scale tools to transform an object, you can hold down ~ to only transform its pattern fill. But the free transform tool doesn’t do this. Can we get it to do this?

   (As with the rotate, scale, and selection tools, holding down the other modifier keys whole holding down ~ should act as they normally do with the Transform tool.)

   There is a ‘transform pattern only’ option in the free transform panel’s menu, but that’s a lot of clicks far away from the thing you’re actively working on, plus it doesn’t actually WORK. No, really, try it. Make a fill pattern, draw a shape with it, check 'transform pattern only', and watch the entire object be transformed along with its fill pattern.

   (Actually it is the ` key, no need to hold down shift to get a ~; I just usually refer to it as the ~ because that's easier to distinguish from the '/" key in many fonts.)

2. Allow docked tool panels to stack one under another

   For now a docked tool panel takes the whole column, not matter how short it is. It forces us to clump all custom tools in one panel. Normal panels can stack any way possible.
   Please, give us the possibility to dock tool panels in rows too.

3. Tools to edit paths to make straight lines, sharp corners, and smooth curves for faster vector trace clean up

   Attached are three tool examples I would like implemented into Illustrator to speed up the process of cleaning up vector paths. A lot of times when you do a vector trace the corners of text or objects will not have a sharp point or areas with straight lines will become jagged or distorted. To clean these areas up requires a lot of single clicks on points and anchor points to get the right result. Implementing these types of tools into illustrator will allow for these changes in as little as three clicks vastly speeding up the process. On top of that being able to see the changes and adjust them before they are applied will also help in making it easier and faster to get the line, corner or curve you want. I hope this is something that can be implemented into Illustrator as it would be beneficial for anyone working with vectors.

4. Allow to save changes into the locked Arrowheads.ai file

   So you are a smart one and figured out how to make your own arrowheads...
   The help article tells how to do it (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/stroke-object.html) and then the file itself has some instructions.

   But then you try to save the changes, and get an error message. You can't overwrite the file, because it’s locked by Ai, because it uses it to display arrowheads in their dropdown...

   Currently you have to save the file someplace else, close Ai, wait a bit, replace the fil, launch Ai back. Very cool...
   Then you realize you made a tiny mistake probably, and you have to repeat the process, opening a saved copy (if you left a copy) and relaunch Ai again.

   This is a wonderful and encouraging process to update presets! It’s like making pasta from the scratch each time you feel you need some more spices.

   How about making the process of making custom arrowheads somewhat more humane?

5. Make ability to make warnings show in background and not in dialogue windows

   Right now we can click OK/Enter every time interrupting warning dialogue pops up, or tick 'Never show again'.
   I would prefer background message, same as 'Shape expanded' now appears.
   For example, I use Ctrl+J combination to connect all my segments in one closed path. I can have two or more segments, and just press this combination several times to achieve my goal, rather then count how many times I should press it. But when path is finally closed, AI throws a warning at me. Usually my hands press keys one more time after that and AI beeps-blinks, which is awful — I expect this window to know my operation is done, but this is too much — this is no error, this is just awaited inapplicable operation. If AI would just pop up small gray badge 'Path is already closed' (AI knows exactly what I've selected), it would work so much better for me.

6. Straight lines with Eraser, Brush, Pencil tools

   Many users have been asking for this feature for a long time: draw a line between two points with the eraser freely, without it being at 45°.
   Why is that not possible? Like drawing with solid lines, without having to convert the contour line thickness (like the Blob Brush). Or constrain the brush as a spot between two precise places, which would amount to the same.

7. Add an option to hide the color spectrum bar at the bottom of the Color panel

   I would like to request an option to hide the color spectrum bar located at the bottom of the Color panel.

   For users who input colors using CMYK or RGB percentages, the color spectrum bar becomes an obstruction. This is particularly problematic when switching to a smaller panel docked below the Color panel, as the spectrum can display with an excessively tall vertical height. Having to manually resize the Color panel every time just to make the color spectrum smaller is cumbersome.

   Please consider implementing this feature.

8. Full Alignment Center Option (both horizontally and vertically)

   Instead of having two tools (Horizontal and Vertical Align Center), can we get a tool that does both in one called something like Fully Align Center. I've included an image of what the tool might look like.

9. Content Credentials (Beta) arriving for Illustrator ... and general concerns about Content Provenance / Attribution

   As Adobe are a leading player in the CAI initiative, are they rolling out 'Content Credentials' functionality to the other creation tools in the suite?
   Also - related to this - why do admin staff on here ask people to upload .AI files as bug fix evidence without conversations about risks of jeopardising Provenance and Attribution?

11. Different Customizable Shape Gradient Constraints

    Much like the flexibility of the radial gradient feature, it would be incredibly helpful to have a similar tool to make gradients, but one that does not constrain you to a circle or ellipse. Yes, AI provides the freeform gradient tool and the gradient mesh tool, but these are often a little finicky and time consuming to use. One can also use the blend tool to attempt a freeform gradient. All of these are far too complicated for creating such simple gradients. I propose that a customizable shape gradient tool is implemented. Like the other gradient tools, one would create the shape, then apply the gradient fill. However, for each gradient stop, you could create and move a dotted gradient boundary. The color would radiate from the first custom shaped stop to a custom shaped second stop. Here is an example of what I mean: (please excuse the rushed illustration)

12. Remake the Tools / Menu Commands dropdown in Keyboard Shortcuts into two toggle buttons

    Dropdown lists just from two elements are pure evil.
    Illustrator has one in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.

    What’s a point of having it? Don’t you have enough space on the x-axis to display both items at once and improve the discoverability of both options?
    As if you were hoping to get another item in that list and never added... in30 years.

    Remake it into two conjoined toggle buttons, or at list in a radio-group (ugh), but just allow users to see both available options at once.

13. Damaged ai files

    Hi there
    My files keep getting damaged when saving them in illustrator
    it seems to be a recent issue only after the last month. I had advice the other day from adobe support to save the files to my desktop as saving to my work server may be the issue - why then never before. My colleges need to be able to access these files too so it's pointless continuously saving to my desktop. This is soooooo FRUSTRATING and I'm getting really annoyed. We pay a large amount of money for the adobe suite. This should be making my life easier not so flipping admin heavy - I have to keep redesigning entire campaigns.
    I'm at my Whitts end here and need a viable solution please.

15. Toolbox zoom and hand tool on same tab instead of separate tabs making it slower to select since having to flip back and forth all the time

    Previous versions CS6 etc had the toolbox panel better laid out: Hand tool and zoom tools were on a separate tab now CC doesn't give the choice but having them both on a same tab so having to hover, drag etc every time I want to select my favourite tools is really tedious whilst there are many useless tools on the toolbox displayed why changing a feature that worked perfectly in previous versions?

    The original toolbar with all the tools in classic arrangement is still available as 'Advanced' and can be enabled from Window > Toolbar menu. The currently offered toolbar is called 'Basic' and serves the purpose of making new users fell less overwhelmed with the amount of tools Ai has and display the most popular only.

    A questionable decision, but it came with the possibility to make our own customized vertical tool panels. Read more about this here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/tools.html

17. Freeform gradient points copying with Alt+drag

    Ai does not apply the Alt+drag paradigm to color stops of freeform gradients. No duplication happens!
    We can workaround this, clicking the stop first, and then clicking in a free spot... But this is not OK, because this approach is not used anywhere else in Ai.
    You can have it kept, but add Alt+drag to copy stops.

18. Illustrator window should stay maximized when opening existing documents form Explorer

    What we want is simple, make it so that opening an Ai file from File Explorer does not change if Ai is in windowed mode, or fullscreen mode.

    This has been an issue for years that disrupts the workflow of users on a regular basis. Here is an old forum thread going back as far as June 2012 further detailing this ongoing issue: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1026020

    When opening an Ai file from File Explorer, Illustrator automatically Restores down to a window from Maximized mode. While the work-around, (of extending edges of Illustrator's window from edge-to-edge of the desired monitor), minimizes the impact of being reduced to windowed mode, many other users, including myself, still find ourselves re-Maximizing the window to fullscreen.

    Adobe, via Creative Cloud, recently launched the first round of 2019 Edition updates, and it would be greatly appreciated if this pesky and disruptive issue would be resolved at last.

19. Stop truncating filenames in Recent files

    AI truncates names of my files in Open Recent Files menu.
    Why?!
    Some of my files differ only in that truncated parts. I have to guess and remember.
    Please, give me an option to set limit myself (in Prefs file or Dialogue) or remove limit completely.

    The character limit for the items in File > Recent menu is now increased to 100. Beyond that, the filenames now start truncating from the middle, to keep both the start and the end of the names visible.

20. Export for Screens in AI should be just like PS's Version

    PLEASE make the export for screens function precisely like the one used in Photoshop.

    In particular:

    (1) it needs to be possible to export at <0.5x, which is currently the upper limit. If I am producing assets for iOS @3x for whatever reason -- say, they include an unscalable PNG from PS for instance -- to produce the 1x asset I need to export @0.33x, which you don't allow, but PS does. (less important but also mind-boggling is why you don't allow upscaling beyond 33.3x.)

    (2) The default export option should be to export to the SAME FOLDER IN WHICH THE FILE IS SAVED. This ridiculous omission costs me valuable time every time I have to export files in different locations. PS also has this correct.

    (3) Your defaults should be the default and they should change based on the file I have open, not based on the export options I had selected for the last file I had open, e.g. if I choose to export File A as 1.0x, 0.67x, and the aforementioned impossible 0.33x, the next time I export those options should NOT now be the default for an entirely different file, where most likely 1x, 2x, 3x are appropriate.
