  2. Please show that a document is loading, on the Home Screen

When double clicking on a recent file, to open it, from the Home Screen, there is a very noticeable multi-second delay - where nothing changes or indicates that the load operation is happening.

Like, when I double click too slow to actually trigger the file open function, there's no way to know that my double click failed, without just waiting a few seconds to see if the Home Screen goes away and the file begins obviously loading, so I land up wasting extra time, just to realize I still need to double click to open my file.

    It's only slightly…

  3. Allow text on linked files to be editable (just as it happens in embed)

When I embed a PSD file into Illustrator, it preserves the layers and also the text boxes, allowing me to edit the text. However, if the file is liked, Illustrator converts all text to pixels, which can cause various problems when printing. It would be great to be able to keep the text as vectors, even if not editable. But rasterizing all text just because the file is liked is a big problem.

  4. Command Palette / Panel / Bar

Sublime & Visual Code are text editors that are used to develop applications. One of the favorite functions is "Command Palette" which is activated with the Ctrl + Shift + P keys. This shows a text field at the top, from which almost any program command is invoked, as well as opening files and many other functions. One of the features is that it is not necessary to write the entire command, you can use only the first letters of two words and the results are listed. Visual Code is open source and you can surely study that functionality in…

  5. Dynamic link between Illustrator and After Effects

Please make it easier to make to have changes made to illustrator files reflected automatically in after effects instead of having to re-import.

  6. Auto-fill file name in search bar when re-linking / replacing missing links

The process of replacing missing links could be less tedious if Illustrator would auto-fill the name of the file in the search bar of the file browser. For me, it is often easier to perform a search for the file name rather than navigating through multiple depths of folders. An option to auto-fill the file name rather than manually typing it would make this regular task much smoother.

I regularly collaborate with other designers and am constantly re-linking files when someone else has created or edited the design file or when projects are re-organized. So the task of replacing missing…

  7. Ai File icon turned upside down

Hi. I have updated the ai to version cc 2018 and all the icons of my files in ai format turned upside down. It makes me feel annoyed even it does not hinder me from opening and working on the files. May i know how this can be fixed?

    Thank you.

  8. Save Individual PDF's in CMYK from Artboards

We are able to save the artboards using the "Export for Screens" function, but they export in RGB, even when using a CMYK file.
It would be great to have an option, whether in the "Save As" window, to be able to save artboards as individual PDF's, with the artboard names, or something similar to "Export for Screens", but for CMYK files.

  9. Change arrow cursor back to how it used to be.

I would VERY much like to be able to change the arrow cursor style back to how it was prior to the most recent update. I do not like the arrows no longer having a handle; perhaps I'm irrational, but it's really throwing me and disrupting my workflow.

  10. Cursor and path feedback for Scissors

We have to guess if we cut a path at all and if we hit the right path.
No highlight (OK, using Smart Guides helps, but Smart Guides does nothing if you also have Snap to Grid enabled!), no cursor change.

It’s 2022, right? Clouds, integrations, Stock sales directly in files... Scissors are still used with a blindfold, in a dark room, in a midnight.

  11. Typesetting formulas, mathematical equations and symbols in LaTeX-style

When typesetting mathematical formulas, LaTeX is the way to go and is the standard in many scientific areas. But a problem arises when mathematical symbols should be used in figures. If these figures are e.g. created in Illustrator, it is always a bit inconvenient to include the symbols in the figure. It is e.g. necessary to render the symbols separately and include them as EPS files in Illustrator or the symbols are added later to the figure by another program.

It would be really cool to have a build-in feature in Illustrator which would allow direct typesetting in the common…

  12. Add custom AI templates to the CC library

Add custom AI templates to the CC library. The functionality is already programed for Adobe Stock. Allow the user to add custom templates to their libraries. Enable the bulk import of .ait files.

I noticed on another thread requesting Cloud files to show in libraries menu. That or create another menu that is for the files similar to how the libraries function. Whatever is easier.

  14. Regression: Illustrator CC saves each instance of symbol in .ai file separately

How to reproduce this problem in Illustrator СС:

    1. Create clean AI file with A4 page.

    2. Place any pixel image (with size ~10 mb) embedded to this page. Save file, it will have size about ~10 mb)

    3. Make this image as symbol and remove object from page.

    4. Place symbol to page one time.

    5. Save file. File size will be, eg, ~10 mb.

    6. Now place same symbol to page more 4 times, total will be 5 images on page.

    7. Save file and check size - it will be increased to ~50 mb.

As result, you will have ai file, containing only 5…

  15. Images with the file name underneath.

Would be great if you could place images on to an artboard and have the option to display the files name underneath the image.
This would be great when designing images for Etsy showing the customer the choice of images they can choose and then tell you the file name of their chosen image.

  16. Add "Crop Image Data to Frames" option to PDF Export (after first adding PDF Export).

InDesign can crop image data to frames, which can significantly shrink PDF files. Why is this long existing InDesign feature missing from Illustrator? Please add it. There is no excuse.

  17. Option to export to clipping mask boundaries

When exporting assets to raster formats, it would be a huge time saver if we had an option to use the boundaries of clipping masks as the edge of the exported artwork. I created three triangles and used a circle as a clipping mask in the attached image. You can see that the exported file has a lot of padding around the artwork because the outer edges of the triangles are used as the boundaries of the file.

If there was an additional option to use the clipping mask boundary as the edge of the exported raster file, it would…

    Hi Everyone,

The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

    What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

  18. Save from Illustrator to iPad Cloud

I need to be able to save illustrator files to the cloud for ipad use, as I can for Photoshop.

  19. File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, to have even faster PDF export options

Starting with build 28.6, we can now Export As PDF (thanks to this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32841790)

This works alongside with a pervious lesser known method: Save a Copy, as PDF.

However, exporting a PDF copy to make a quick 'snapshot' still feels slow — we get a dialog and have to choose a preset we want to use.

Meanwhile InDesign offers a handy configurable menu that allows to skip format options and go with a chosen preset, like the attached screenshot shows.

    Please make a similar menu.

  20. Keyboard Command for Expanding Objects

Please. It's so much more intuitive to press ctrl/cmd+a and expand using the keyboard. I work with other peoples files all the time so being able to easily expand their files to make them work is critical.
