100% view is not 100% for pixels in cc2019
OMG, yesterday I've updated illustrator cc2018 to cc2019. Objects now in 100% view are diplayed as ~151% - see attached file - in left side - illustrator cc2018 window and 400x400 px square in 100% view. In the right side - the same square in 100% view.
Please fix this annoing bug.
This is on Mac pro late 2013, High Sierra, 27' Eizo monitor 1400x2560
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Was so excited to see that this feature was being added, and then disappointed after updating to find that all it does is set the zoom level to 100% - a 1" square is still not a 1" square on the actual display!

After reading lots about this issue in various places I can see how it's intended as a feature if it let's print designers view their work at actual, true-to-life size
But not everyone is a print designer. Many work in pixels, not inches or cm. For us, "a tual size" means each pixel in the document corresponds to one pixel on screen.
Why can't both groups be supported at once with something as simple as a checkbox "True-to-life Scaling".

Yeah, 100% bad decision, to not giving us any option here.

YES!!!!! Give us at least the option to switch that stupid feature OFF.!!!!

Adobe calls this issue a feature. Vote here to help get it fixed: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/35736118-100-view-is-not-100-for-pixels-in-cc2019

VERY DISAPPOINTING.
The whole design team has to go back to Illustrator 2018! We design for screens, not for print. This makes everything WORSE. Give us at least the option to switch that stupid feature OFF.
We are now really thinking about switching to other design platforms due to several not understandable decisions:
- Xd: voice command before normal hover styles for buttons
- Confusing changes in Photoshop
- 100% pixel perfect designing in Illustrator is not possible anymore
- I am afraid there will be even moreYou are not thinking through what your customers really need in everyday work life.
For the sky-high price for Adobe products this is not acceptable anymore. -

Ritika, you are the third person from Adobe that is trying to convince me to this new super duper feature.
But believe me, we know better. We don't like it and we are not happy with it. We would like to see things as they are, not as Adobe wants us to see them.
True view is not cool, it make our work a little bit harder, and experience with your apps a lot worse. -

Ritika, I'm shocked to read your statement 'This is as designed, and not a bug. '. This either means screen designers are not considered as Illustrator users in 2018 or this is a major oversight by the development team.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great feature for print design, and I love it when I design for print. For screen, this is a complete nightmare.
I really like to know if Adobe is shifting focus on print design with Illustrator or not, or if this will be fixed soon (like lightning fast soon) as for the first time I'm actually seriously looking at other options.
I'm very happy to help however I can, send screenshots with different monitor setups with various OS scaling options, with or without pixel preview, etc.

Pixel preview is both pixelated and doesn't give the correct dimensions (on Surface Pro 2017) so it is not a solution. I hope people stopped recommending this as a solution.
This is a critical problem Adobe, please help!

I agree that is not a bug, since a bug consists of behavior other than expected due to programming errors. This is however, a bad feature. Illustrator has always had 100% true pixel view and now it doesn't. The issue is that this feature is a terrible feature. So, to ritika patel(Illustrator team), this being done by design is a terrible design decision. I have been using Affinity and I am so close to just switch all my workflow to that platform because it actually works extremely well. I do love Adobe and I have been using Adobe products since 2002, but as the apps keep getting more and more bloated it is starting to become an issue to the point of considering leaving Adobe all together. I am sure I speak for many of us, just fix this asap, because reverting back to an older version is just a terrible thing for software.

Agreed. It's a bug and hardly a feature when "100%" zoom in a pixel based document doesn't actually mean 100%.

Illustrator 2019 has implemented an "actual size" feature that attempts to display elements on screen at the size they would appear in real life. The problem with this feature is that for on-screen designers, it's now impossible to design at the actual pixel size.
This makes using Illustrator for interface design, icon design, application design, on screen artwork and more, simply impossible. There is the option of a "pixel preview" view, however this view is extremely pixelated on retina screens and makes the app run extremely slowly and laggy.
This issue is absolutely critical to my team's workflow and is make or break for continuing to use Illustrator. I'm ok with the "Actual PRINT Size" feature to remain, but for the love of God, please put an option in to revert back to "Actual PIXEL Size".

Ritika, with all due respect, I don't think your team has thought through the consequences of this decision. The new actual size feature literally makes Adobe Illustrator not useable for on screen design anymore. Not everyone designs for print.
Think about the number of people who use Illustrator to design for screen. Icon designers, on-screen graphics/artwork, interface design, games, application components and way more. The only way to view at actual pixel size is by viewing "pixel preview" which renders Illustrator super laggy and is a terrible view to design in especially on retina displays which show all of the pixelation of the vectors. It's literally not useable for me anymore.
This is so critical for me that I will have to consider other applications to design with or be stuck on version 22 until this feature is reversed or an option is implemented to switch back to 100% pixel view.
To be frank, I'm honestly astounded that this could ever go live in the app. How can Adobe render Illustrator unusable for on-screen designers? Presumably more people design for screen than for print these days, and furthermore most times when designing for print you don't even need to see the actual size, especially considering viewing distances of posters, outdoor advertisments, packaging etc. which are all viewed at different lengths.
I'm honestly astounded by this feature, but more so by the response in this thread. I'm begging you guys to at the very least implement an option to switch back. I can't use the latest Illustrator until this is done. I'm the digital lead for a mid-size studio which relies on Illustrator. We have been considering switching to Figma for some time and this may just be the straw that broke the camels back.

Hi,
I agree with Ramib, this is a bug.
Currently I need to install 2018 version since I can't display 100%.

Hi Ritika,
There is a bug here because it doesn't show the actual size...
try pasting any screen shot inside an art board and see what are you getting when selecting actual view or 100%.
