  2. Making changes to rgb vector artwork causing color changes

Using the latest version of Illustrator CC, when I open a particular logo (a multi-layered object with active strokes) and make any changes (ex: outline strokes, rotate, re-scale, etc), I experience a color dulling and color changes to the entire logo.

Oddly enough this only happens with the RGB version of the logo, not the CMYK version of the logo. And when I cmd-z these actions the color dulling / color changes won't revert back. In all of my years using Illustrator I've never witnessed this strange behavior, which is why I assume this is a bug.

    Even stranger, after…

  3. Illustrator in 30.3 version stopped reading spot colors (like Pantones) from greyscale PSD files.

When placing a grayscale PSD file with added spot color (it can be either Pantone or custom spot), only the grayscale is readed into Illustrator, spot color is being ignored. TIF files and CMYK colorspace files work normally.

  4. Tilde key for transforming patterns moves the whole shape instead of the fill clipped to it

Holding down the tilde key ~ when direct selecting a pattern filled object used to give you the option to interactively transform the pattern inside the object. It would override the transform settings for patterns and give you a live preview when transforming (move/scale/rotate) the pattern only.
This behaves different when moving the pattern in the 2025 and 2026 versions. It will move the object and the pattern and snap the object back when the mouse is released.

  5. Tabs in Swatch Info text are made with spaces instead of actual tabs

This is so bizarre. A native function for a professional application uses spaces in text to define tab stops, for a non-monospaced font...

Sure, tabs just won’t work, since they stay in place if the Swatch Info object gets resized.... and Ai still doesn’t allow to scale tabs if needed...

Instead of making 'Indent to here' work (here is a request about it: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37578991) and use it here, this is hacked, rather dirty, giving a worth example to designers. Change the font and the indentations rips apart...

    Shame!

  7. Spot Colors in Linked or Embedded Images can be Renamed in Swatches Palette, breaking functionality

Double clicking a spot swatch in the Swatches Palette allows you to rename the swatch. In past versions, Illustrator would not allow you to rename the spot swatch if it was used in a linked or embedded image. Now the spot swatch can be renamed whether or not it is used in an image. There is no warning that the spot being renamed is in use. After renaming the spot swatch, the Swatches Palette does not show the spot actually used in the image. Changing the color values of the spot swatch before renaming changes the appearance of the image,…

  9. Freeform gradient doesn't export to svg

When using a freeform gradient in Adobe Illustrator (desktop) it does not export to svg. Instead it takes out the gradient and leaves the fill empty.

  10. Gradient Window Color Slider buggy, Selection area too small, adding color instead of selecting the color

After updating to 24.2. Gradient Window Color Slider buggy, Selection area too small, adding color instead of selecting the color. Then it doesn't allow the selection of the color because it wants to add a new color. When I keep trying to select the color it is showing a plus sign and will not allow me to select the color that is there.

  11. Impossible to create a new swatch named 'White' or 'Black'

In my company we can print the color White as a spot color. Our printer reacts on the name of the color "White".

Until a while ago it was no problem to add a White color swatch to Illustrator.
Now I get an error (see image).

I don't know why it worked before and doesn't anymore.
May be it's possible to make Illustrator work like Indesign and change the name of the original white-swatch to Paper?
My problem would be solved :)

  12. Editing Pattern Swatch + Saving = Crash (unsaved, unrecovered)

After creating a new pattern swatch with about a dozen objects, I double click the swatch to change the pattern settings. Either of the following scenarios cause Illustrator to crash EVERY TIME, using ANY of the last 3 versions of Illustrator:
    — hitting Command+S to exit pattern editor while saving
    — double clicking to exit, and then hitting Command+S at any point afterwards

TLDR; hitting Command+S anytime AFTER editing a pattern swatch is crashing Illustrator

I've replicated this issue about 2 dozen times now across all 3 most recent builds of Illustrator available through CC.
    I haven't yet tried saving…

  13. Color Picker Selects White Instead of Black

    Very bizarre problem:

    1. I will create a new object using the pen tool.
    2. I select the Stroke Color icon and choose black for a border color.
    3. Illustrator will invariably select white instead of black. I will have to go back to the color picker and select black again for it to stick. Really irritating.

  14. Freeform gradient fill disappears on select all action

    1. OS: Windows Version: 10.0 System Architecture: x64 Illustrator v 23.0.6 (64-bit)
    2. I used a freeform gradient fill to fill a path and upon doing a select all to group a few different paths and shapes for easier movement or duplication, the fill of the path disappears and I need to either rebuilt the gradient or re-load the file as even doing CTRL+Z doesn't bring back the gradient
    3. The expected result is that the gradient remains as it was when doing a select all (Either through CTRL+A or using the Selection Tool)
    4. The Fill for the path disappears and the freeform…

  15. Global colours don't seem to be preserved in freeform gradients

I have complex files that are made up of multiple gradients to create a 3D effect. Some of the gradients are linear and some are freeform. I am currently in the process of creating artwork files for both print and digital. To create the digital files I am converting all the files to RGB. There is a specific brand colour that has a different RGB make up than the standard conversion. I thought, no problem, I'll just update the global colour swatch and it should cascade through. But it doesn't! It does on the linear gradients, but not on the…

  16. Patern Maker's Numeric Scaling Is Broken

I'm creating a step and repeat wall using 2 graphics.

In a brick by column pattern, individual graphics can't be scaled using the menu dialog (Object>Transform>Scale).

However, they can be scaled using the tool panel's scale tool (keyboard shortcut s).

Entering precise scaling measurements that are supported in earlier versions of Illustrator would be appreciated!

  17. Color Reduction Options reset after restart (keep Preserve White and Black checked)

    1. MacOS 10.13.5 / AI 22.1
    2. changing "Colors" to all, untick "Preserve" White and Black
    3. I expected these options to be saved and the same after a restart of AI
    4. after starting AI "Colors" are always reset to "Auto", "Preserve White" and "Black" is always ticked

Some of the color reduction options are always reset after restarting AI, e.g. "Colors" will always revert back to auto and "Preserve" white and black will always be ticked.
Colorize method on the other hand will stick.
This is like this since at least a couple of versions, also on Windows 10 with AI 22.1

  18. color on screen looks different if cmyk or spot

this is a problem i found in illustrator, indesign and photoshop cc.
i create a gradient, say from 100% to 0% of cyan (c100 m0 y0 k0). (the color is not important)
than i create another gradient, from 100% to 0% of cyan (c100 m0 y0 k0), but spot color.
    than i active 'overprint preview'.
on screen, the 2 color look different, and it's wrong.
we have the same color, the same gradient, so it MUST look the same.

  19. CMYK values changes

On opening existing file and embedded profile mismatch, selecting "Convert document's colors to the working space" will change K=100% to black defined in all CMYK values.
However opening the file keeping embedded profile and hereafter assign the profile keeps the values intact.

  20. Opacity bug

    AI CC 2018
I turned the opacity down on a selection to see below layers. Then I went to work on below layers. Upon returning to original layer and re-selecting the object to return it to 100% opacity it showed I was already at 100%. I could not get it back to 100% until I copied and pasted the object to a new layer.

Need More Info  ·  Anish Kumar responded

    Hi,

It seems like opacity is applied on the Layer and not on the object inside that layer. It is possible that the user is selecting object inside the layer and not the layer itself. Hence the user is able to see the opacity of object which is 100% in this case and not the changed opacity of layer.
