1. Adobe Illustrator asks you to Save when no changes were made?

   Why does Illustrator, for the past many years, ask you to Save when no changes were made? Makes me think I accidentally did something or forgot that I did something. If nothing was changed, Don't ask to Save....please.

2. Cannot export large files to .png format at 300dpi

   I’m using the command: File > Export As > PNG
   Use artboards: Not selected
   Resolution: High (300dpi)
   Ahti-Aliasing: None
   Background Color: Transparent

   I have an immediate need to export Illustrator files of roughly 8000 px by 6500px to .png format at 300dpi. I tried doing this with a file containing a complicated drawing, but it fails and displays an error box saying:
   The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [!now]
   I created a simple file containing a few filled rectangles and experimented, with the following results: (all set to export to .png at 300dpi with no anti aliasing)

   3000px x 3000px – and smaller files exported to .png OK
   4000px x 4000px – flashed a not responding banner at the top of the window then did the export OK
   5000px x 5000px – flashed the not responding banner then (a while later) did the export OK.
   6000px x 6000px – No flashing banner, just the Cannot complete – unknown error message in a box.

   I’m running Illustrator 23.0.3, on Windows 7.1

   I tried the same exercise on my laptop and got much the same results using Illustrator 23.0.2 on Windows 10 Home v1809

   I can’t use the fix I’ve seen of copying the file to Photoshop and exporting from there as I don’t have Photoshop. I’d really appreciate some help to sort this out. I’ve spend the afternoon trying to fix it, and I need to be able to create these .png files.

   I’m using the command: File > Export As > PNG
   Use artboards: Not selected
   Resolution: High (300dpi)
   Ahti-Aliasing: None
   Background Color: Transparent

3. Illustrator crashes whenever export file to .png

   My adobe illustrator is crashing whenever I try to save my file in .png form. I'm using illustrator inside a server and Adobe representatives can't help me troubleshoot. This problem only started a month ago and before I could save files in png. Any suggestion for fix will be appreciated. Thank you!

5. Illustrator CC 23.0.2 not opening a SVG file

   When I try to open a svg file, a dialog box asks me to "Select a File Format to open file:" The options are Pixar, PCX, BMP, PNG and Targa. Not only do I not need any of these options, but if I click any of them and press OK, I get an error that reads, "Could not read the file because the plug-in could not understand this file."

6. "An Unknown Error Has Caused the Operation to Fail" Message When Trying to export TIFF.

   iMac running OS X 10.14.2
   Illustrator CC 2019

   Whenever I try to export an artboard as a TIFF using "Export As", I get the ubiquitous, yet EXTREMELY vague error message, "An Unknown Error Has Caused the Operation to Fail" a couple of seconds after Illustrator starts to process the image (progress bars gets about 25% of the way).

   Now, the weird part is that I have no problem exporting the same artboard as a PNG or JPG using the same "Export As' option.

   And before you ask, yes I uninstalled and then reinstalled Illustrator but it's still having the same issue.

7. PNG export broken

   I receive an error every time I try to export a PNG from any file. Other export formats work without a problem.

   Working on a Macbook Pro with MacOS Mojave running the latest version of Illustrator (updated this morning).

8. Some Colors are Yellow and Transparent When Exported

   Some of my colors (mostly the bluish white and other lighter colors) become yellowish and transparent when exported as an image (I exported it as .tif) or through the Library tab as assets.

   Even through Illustrator/InDesign, the print preview shows the wrong color and it prints the wrong color. On InDesign, it looks okay until you put it on Overprint Preview.

   The only work around we figured right now is exporting it as a PDF and printing through Adobe Acrobat.

   Attached are the exported image and a screenshot of the actual colors.

9. SVG Export Distortion

   I am having 0 success with Adobe Illustrator exports that incorporate filters. Some are stock images from Adobe stock that have polygonal patters. Others are 3D text rendered objects. Others are layers built with a variety of transparency filters and opacity settings. The SVG exports are not usable and we are resorting to .png files until we solve this.    I am using export settings with Styling: Presentation; Images: Preserve; Object ID: Minimal; 2 Decimals; Minify and Responsive checked. Other modifications to these settings has not worked.
   Additionally, many of the Adobe Stock images, including simple icons, have extra points and require extensive cleaning to achieve a clean SVG export. I would recommend that Adobe stock set requirements for submitted artwork to have clean export SVG feature which is preferred for responsive web development.

   Increasing the Decimals precision from 2 to higher value should fix this issue. Please try this and update the results.

10. Hide File Extension on Export

    It's very annoying that when exporting to .jpg, etc. the hide file extension box is automatically checked. This is awful. Why?!?

11. Can't drag and drop or place png or jpeg files

    macOS Mojave Version 10.14
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

    Illustrator 23.0

    I try to drag and drop or place png/jpeg files and nothing happens. When selecting and pasting an image an error message says 'Not enough memory to place file.' This never happened before updating to 23.0

12. Export as SVG: linked image gets deleted

    Hi All,
    I have an issue when exporting to SVG.
    I created an AI file with a linked jpg image as a background, and some text on top.
    When I export to SVG, the original jpg image gets deleted (I mean the original file, it disappears from Finder, it's not even in the recycle bin) and then Illustrator gives me the message "Some files are missing or modified in the links panel. Would you like to update them now?".
    So, the first time I export, the SVG is saved correctly but I lose the original image file, if I try to export again I get an SVG with no background image, because the link is broken.
    I tried to embed the image in the AI file before exporting. When I export the first time, same as before, SVG is correct but I lose the image file, even if it's embedded and not linked, this is very strange. If I try again without original image file, I get an SVG file with background image, but it's much bigger than before, like 400kb instead of 80kb. Comparing the 2 SVGs, I see in the code that the first one has the image embedded as jpg, and the second as png, don't know why.

14. Sierra, Illustrator crashes when saving and working

    iMac Pro, OS Sierra. When you save the file filename.ai Illustrator crashes. When working with a file after about 30 minutes, it flies without saving all the work.

15. Intermittently, Illustrator does NOT save the file.

    Intermittently, when I save a file (using Ctrl-S or File > Save), the existing file is NOT saved. This has caused me to lose work.

    The Illustrator UI thinks that the file has been saved - the File > Save option is greyed out. When I look in the file's location on disk, the existing file shows an older file date and time; the last time it saved successfully. There is a new file with the expected date and time and the extension "t".

    I can do a "Save As" which works. I can make some trivial changes the the file, Save, and that usually does save the file correctly. But the failure to save normally still occurs about 25% of the time. It's been happening since I installed Illustrator.

    I am working with .SVG files in Illustrator 22.1 on Windows 10.

16. Export As SVG with 0 decimals fails in handling closed bezier curves

    When using “Export for Screens…” or “Export As…” for exporting an SVG and setting the number of decimals to 0, the exporter succeeds in encoding primitives like rects, ellipses, circles and polygons, using only integers for their coordinates – but when your artwork contains any closed bezier curves (e.g. drawn with the pen tool or derived from a font) the resulting path elements will look something like <path d="M0,0Z"/> or <path d="M0,0H0M0,0H0M0,0H0M0,0H0M0,0H0M0,0H0M0,0Z"/>

    What’s surprising about the bug is that the export of non-closed bezier curves works just fine.

    Steps to reproduce:
    - Create a new Illustrator file
    - Draw a custom path with the pen tool, click on the first point to close it
    - Choose File > Export for Screens…
    - In the ‘Formats’ section choose SVG
    - Click the tiny gear icon to open the “Advanced settings for exported file types” dialog
    - In the left-hand column select ‘SVG’
    - In the ‘Decimal’ input field type ‘0’
    - Hit “Save Settings”
    - Hit “Export Artboard”

    As a result you will end up with an SVG file that’s encoded as expected, except for the value of the path elemnt’s d-attribute, so in turn your SVG file will render as if it were empty.

    Now why in heavens would I even need an SVG with so little precision? Well, when preparing assets for web content like animated advertising creatives, the pressure for ever-smaller assets is so high, that I would like to reduce my SVG’s file size by scaling it up 10-fold then outputting the coordinates as integers, and then scaling down again when displaying, thus ending up with an effective precision of one decimal, but saving the extra storage for the decimal point itself. I’ve tried it and it can save me around 20-30% storage without any loss in quality.

    So not having to resort to third party tools like SVGO for making this work would obviously speed up my workflow a lot.

17. CC降存CS3工作區域不見

    自升級為CC2018後，將檔案降存為CS3版本後，再開啟CS3版的檔案時，原本的工作區域會只剩下工作區域1，其他都只剩工作區域參考線，這是以前未出現的問題。
    1)而後嘗試改回CC2017還是有一樣的問題。
    2)CC2018降存CS6並無此問題。

18. The autosave in illustrator

    The autosave in illustrator make system very busy and crushed illustrator, after restart file usually broken, has just part information (links broken, part of assets absent) or file start to be not rideable at all.

19. Failed SVG 1.1 Import/Export in Illustrator CC 21.1.0 (Win)

    1. Isolate Blending sets to default mode on all fonts when importing SVG-files to Illustrator and cause ”bitmap fonts” on printed paper in web browsers for Windows with embedded fonts from exported PDF-files from Illustrator.

    2. Transform lines ignored in SVG-Import in Illustrator from scaled Graphic/Movie Clip from Animate CC 16.5.1.104 (Win).

20. AI CC2017 has flatten my work file into an image automatically

    1. Illustrator 21.1.0

    2. I use a lot of paths and layers to create effects in AI, once done I saved it. When i reopen it to edit some features, I was shocked that it flatten all my paths into an image! Nothing I can do but re-do it, painful experience!!

    I re-do (painfully), saved, reopen.....it works fine. I used that AI file to do adaptation, by copy the whole layers (file A) and paste to other AI file art board (file B).

    But when I reopen file B to further edit, file B has turn into a flatten image....again. Luckily file A still working fine.

    I tried copy file A to file C (new document file).....the result is even weird. Some group in layers has flatten, but some are not.

    I use the same save/ export steps like CS5. I didn't touch any setting in save dialogue. I was not able to figure out why it flatten when I close the file.

    1. I should be able to amend the AI CC, the software shouldn't flatten it automatically. It caused me into a big trouble.

    2. AI CC flatten my paths, groups, layers....randomly.

    2. I use a lot of paths and layers to create effects in AI, once done I saved it. When i reopen it to edit some features, I was shocked that it flatten all my paths into an image! Nothing I can do but re-do it, painful experience!!

    I re-do (painfully), saved, reopen.....it works fine. I used that AI file to do adaptation, by copy the whole layers (file A) and paste to other AI file art board (file B).

    But when I reopen file B to further edit, file B has turn into a flatten image....again. Luckily file… more
