Placing/updating AI file links in INDD after update takes a very very very long time.
After updating AI and INDD, placing AI files into INDD is taking a very long time. I made an update to an AI file that was placed into an existing INDD files that contains 13 placed AI files. I only updated a few of the linked AI files. Prior to the AI and INDD update, updating these placed links took a few seconds each max. Now, just to update the two links takes about 2 minutes.
This MAY be an AI bug, but I don't know how make that determination as I updated bothat the same time.
1 voteThis seems to an InDesign issue or slowness of your file system or network. Illustrator has no role in the link update / place inside Indesign.

cant do anything within the latest version of illustrate
when adding two items and then trying to manipulate them I am getting the attached image. this is happening when i try to do any kind of task in Illustrator. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall.
Any help would be great.
I am running 22.1 (64 bit) with the following system Information:OS: Windows

Issue moving Illustrator to a different virtual desktop space
iMac
MacOS 10.13.3
Illustrator CC 2018 v22.0.1I am using several virtual desktops (Apple calls them Spaces) and I am used to being able to move application windows to different desktops by dragging open windows to the top of the screen, which reveals the available desktops. However, when I try to drag Illustrator to a different desktop the action fails, leaving a transparent grey window over the whole screen. Logging out and back in again clears the grey window. I will try to make a video to show what happens.

As you can see, I can't figure out how in the &&^&* to get this issue resolved. HOW, before my head explodes, do you restore THESE icons or whatever the **** they're called back to their original settings???????????????

Illustrator CC 2018 - CEP on Windows, unable to debug
Currently I am unable to take more than 1-2 steps in CC extension code when debugging with the Chrome browser attached remotely. When I do so the CC Extension panel clears itself, and the browser does a refresh. I do not see this problem on MacOS.

I don't see wich item a selected
It's not possible when I selected an item to see wich item I selected.
Also every transform option / scale option is not available.

Vector shapes show as black
When opening an .ai file on one particular PC in our workplace (a file that was created on a different PC) most of the vector shapes show as black-filled shapes.
We have multiple copies of Illustrator (all version 22.0.1 (64-bit) in our workplace and on every other PC the artwork displays properly (with no black shapes).
Turning on 'Overprint Preview' on the troublesome PC fixed the issue.
On every other PC turning this option on or off has no effect.
If we create a new file in Illustrator on this troublesome PC then we don't experience any problems?

crash
I am using CC 2018 and it is up to date. Illustrator randomly quits when saving file. When I hit command + s, Adobe will randomly quit. Has done it twice today. A few more times the last few days.

Transformaton Pallet Y issue (bug?)
When I tab through the transformation pallet to input the X and Y vallues. The Y always changes to something that seems random, always need to fill Y in a second time.

Send to back
I am busy working on a big logo project on illustrator, using only one layer. I started filling up the art-boards and space available. However, after only using about a third of the available space the send to back feature wouldn't work. It would register the object as infront of the other object but it wouldn't show the object I placed infront.
I am a 14 year old student at the International School Eindhoven.

Frozen
I am using Illustrator CC 2018
Whenever I am working with type, if I want to change the kerning, the software gives the message in the attached file & completely freezes. I can't exit or do anything. I have to force quit the application in order to get it to work again, which makes me lose a majority of my work and then have to redo.1 vote -
Illustrator Crashing when opening files
When I'm working in Illustrator and I have another file I want to open, I'll double-click open a file and Illustrator will stop responding. I'll need to quit using the task manager and open the files again.
I had a work-around of opening a file from File > Open, but now that just crashed my illustrator file as well.
I'm working on Windows 10. Unfortunately I can't share my files, but it's been happening across several projects. Can't pin-point a specific issue.

Illustrator freezes - must close using Task Manager
Illustrator freezes, menus not accessible and/or if they open, it is blank. I can still select items on the artboard, but cannot use anything in menus and tools. Once Illustrator freezes, I cannot close unless I use the Task Manager.

These are all the issues that I had this week. Solutions?
1/31 Anchor points refuse to join
1/31 Eraser not working
1/31 While using shape tool to make a circle it changed to a square mid-creation.
1/31 Resize handles not appearing while using direct selection tool.
2/2 Cannot deselect by clicking, must choose deselect.
2/2 Font names disappearing from font selection drop down.
2/2 While image is selected, crop button has disappeared from the top bar.
2/6 Crop disappeared again.
2/6 Direct selection tool not allowing resize again.

Illustrator has crashed twice in the past hour (and multiple times today)
I was editing lines in this document and it keeps crashing. Not sure why... Any help would be appreciated! I was moving lines from one layer into another when it crashed just now. Thanks!

Preferences reset to default... EVERY time I open Illustrator
Every time I open Illustrator, all preferences are reset to the defaults. EVERY preference, EVERY time. I've saved custom workspaces, keyboard shortcuts, etc. and those are available to be activated, every time I open the application.
Using AI CC 2018 (22.0.1) on Windows 7, with Cloud disabled.
I do NOT have the option to install the latest patch; I don't even have access to menu item "Check for Updates."
Would be EXTREMELY helpful if Adobe would make the list of fixes for each patch available. I have no way of knowing when there's been an update, or what was patched…15 votesThe issues seems to happen again in 28.0 and 28.1

Several Illustrator 22.0.1 Issues with High Sierra Update
The issues keep surfacing after the OS High Sierra update making my job increasingly difficult and frustrating. Issues ranging from bounding boxes not working to the inability to modify/click on text. Also, I find that I sometimes after some design and then saving the project, the layout switches back on all the changes that I made, after saving is complete. I'll close the file, reopen, and the changes appear as they should have. Crashing is also an issue, seems "minor" compared to these other problems. cant sign in to creative cloud
i open a project i was working on and and i didn't have the font, it prompted me to sign in to creative cloud and when i did it adobe app tries to open but cant.

Recolor artwork window stops working shortly after opening (Illustrator CC2018)
Im using Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 on macOS High Sierra (10.13.2).
I'm trying to recolor my artwork but the window accessed via Edit colors > recolor Artwork freezes shortly after using it.Everything remains responsive except that when I click any part of the window there is no response from Illustrator. I can still move the window around but cannot exit it. The OS doesn't recognize it as a crash (no "not responding" message).
I've been working on the same document in Illustrator CC 2017, recoloring worked fine in then.
Any idea how to fix this?
