  1. Video Rulers not correct (and useless ;-)

    While I don't really need the Video Rulers , they do not seem to work well. (Rulers are a quite skeuomorphic tool anyway, since with Ai we can place everything numerically)

    The horizontal axis does not reflect the horizontal pixelnumbers, illustrated in the screenshot, where a 1920 wide artboard is shown to have 1440 pixels in the width by the ruler. Maybe due to some non square pixel setting. Confusing and unneeded?

  2. Undo command and Hide

    Undo command ignores whether or not objects are hidden. Rather, Undo command does not undo hide/unhide, so hidden objects are moved or modified, depending on what is being undone, while hidden.

  3. Touch Workspace Inconsistent

    I have a Dell XPS 15 9570; it's more laptop than tablet, but it does have some touchscreen functionality.

    When I first launched Illustrator on this device, I had the option to use touch mode, which was awesome.

    For some reason though, it is no longer accessible. I've checked the workspaces menu, window>wirkspaces, etc. Nothing. There's not external keyboard connected (the laptop has a built in keyboard), I've restarted illustrator, I've tried different document types, I've switched my OS between tablet mode and laptop mode... nothing.

    I'd really like to be able to use this mode again. Any advice?

  4. Units change to points from millimeters in Preferences

    Preferences Units go back to "points" even after I change it to "millimeters" on 2018 CC version. I go to Units (no document open) and change from default POINTS to "mm". When I open a new document it is reading POINTS again!

  5. HDTV 1080 preset has a PAR of 1.33

    When the HDV 1080 and HDTV 1080 document presets were combined the HDTV pixel aspect ratio never changed from 1.33 to 1. The HDTV 720 has the proper square PAR, but the 1080 still has the old HDV one. This is only a cosmetic issue, as it affects the AI ruler, but not the shapes created or when art is imported into after effects, but it is still wrong when you're trying to measure distances using the Guide Ruler.

  6. Crash on File open/save while iCloud is running

    Here's the rant part:
    "2 days of productivity down the toilet, thanks Adobe. People use network drives. Deal with it."

    But on to the issue....
    Flying along for the past month on a new MacBook Pro working on various projects. Most of the projects end up on a network drive. iCloud (so I can switch to desktop quickly), Google Drive for collaboration and distribution.

    All has been working up until 4 days ago. Illustrator decides to crash/hang when I go to open any file, local or network. This project has a LOT of components to it, Illy files, PSDs, After…

  7. Pasted artwork does not remember sublayers

    When pasting artwork from one file to another with matching layer and sub-layer names, Illustrator will not remember sub layers and pasted artwork has to be re-sorted in to sub layers.

  8. pasted guides are checked against the drawing area

    While pasting artwork (CMD-V) which is copied from another Illustrator document and includes guides, I often get the warning seen in the screenshot.

    This happens only because of the guide.
    After pasting in place (CMD-F) I can move the artwork around w/o the guides being checked against the drawing area.

    Imo the guides shouldn't be checked against the drawing area while pasting.

  9. Crashing when Creating New Anything

    For some reason whenever I try to create a new document in Illustrator, it buffers and inevitably crashes. At first I believed it to just be our school server (as it crashed a few days ago) but it's affecting all of the computers in every single classroom I've been in.
    The program will open and then the screen pops up with "Create New" in the center.
    I click on the button and it brings up the file sizes and the measurements like normal but when I click on "Create", the program buffers and a notification will pop up stating that…

  10. Changing default units reverts back from/to inches to/from points on relaunch / restart

    I can't change the default units. When I change the unit in General from inches to Point. Illustrator reverts it back to the inches again when I restart the illustrator. This is super annoying. Please don't need to upgrade the feature of illustrator just fix the existing ones and give us a bug-free application.

  11. "Current proportions" option missing from Illustrator CC 2019

    LEFT (Screenshot from a tutorial): The "Current proportions" option is visible under Artboard Options window.
    RIGHT (Screenshot from my desktop): The "Current proportions" is missing.

  12. Film and Video presets have an unnecessary Artboard 2

    Every new document created has 2 artboards (At least when creating from the 1920x1080 HD video template) Every time I go to export a jpg or png via save for web, it slows to a crawl because of a huge unnecessary artboard. I only want to export the size artboard I created, the HD size. But I have to wait for it to catch up and then cancel, delete the useless artboard, then go back to exporting. The whole process takes several minutes and is infuriating.

    This artboard has a purpose.

    As mentioned here in comments and in several discussions (here or here), this artboard is needed when importing the file as a composition into After Effects.

    Quoting Ton Frederiks (thanks):

    With a single artboard, After Effects clips the content outside the artboard even when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    With the second large artboard, AE will show the contents of layers when Retain Layer Sizes is selected.

    Another way to solve it is to create a single large artboard that has the size of all the artwork.

  13. Linked image file cannot be deselected

    I have an infuriating problem with selected linked files that's been going on for years now.

    If a linked file becomes selected (often by dragging within it's area to select other items) it is then impossible to deselect it again. I generally work with the Path Selection Only option on but a link often gets selected anyway and then this problem occurs. It's usually necessary to close the document to get out of it.

    Occasionally, deselecting the file in the links panel used to work, but this problem has generally got worse. It sometimes results in editing an item unintentionally.

  14. Layer Hierarchy Glitch

    I've stumbled onto a glitch which breaks my layer heirarchy when copying and pasting. I've outlined it in greater detail in the following thread. I've also attached the file where this occurs.

    I've been able to reproduce these results when copying a layer which contains sub-layers with clipping masks. This problem persists even after the mask is removed, suggesting the layers remained glitched in some way after the fact. This is important because it means the glitch can potentially spread through your file as you work with no way of tracking it.

  15. Illustrator does not remember general unit settings

    Illustrator cc 2018 does not remember that i choose 'mm' for my general measurements and points for lines & type.
    Please fix that urgently, it’s soul destroying stuff, I really require it to work correctly as I operate your software with one hand & i need to jump things in & out of place & require the software to remember my settings!

  16. Paste on All Artboards Not Working

    I have a design on a single artboard. I want to paste it to other artboards to prepare my color separations for screen printing. When I cut the design and select Paste on All Artboards, it pastes the design the correct amount of times...but NOT on the artboards. It pastes them out in the gray area. I have tried different artboard arrangements, and having different artboards active at the time of paste, but the designs still end up not on the artboards.

  17. .AI an d XD files not opened by default on Windows 10

    Ashutosh Chaturvedi, sorry but one of your issues is not totally fixed, you have many users who are waiting for an answer for the .ai an wd files wich are supposed to by opened by default by thèse two softwares by double-clicking. This issue is not fixed on Windows 10. Thank you for your time and you answer ASAP.

    Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

    Before you do that are you manually able to change file association of .ai file to another application say Notepad.exe ? There is another issue with file association going around.   18. Illustrator issues, SVG only?

    When using CC (updated to v. 23), illustrations appear distorted when rendered with stylesheet. During troubleshooting, I open a colleague's SVG illustration in CS6 as well as CC v.23 and compare. See attachments. CC distorts both content size and artboard size. We never had this issue with CS.
