Illustrator freezes up every +-20 minutes, unfreezes after alt+tab
Illustrator (24.2.3 & 24.3, possibly previous versions too), freezes every 20 minutes or so. Sometimes it doesn't happen for an hour, sometimes it happens twice or 3 times in 10 minutes.
When I say freezing, I mean freezing as if crashing (where the application gets a white-wash and then Windows pops up a message with a crash report message). The only difference is it doesn't give the "application crashed, send/not send" message. It just stays frozen, even when clicking on the application repeatedly (what usually causes the program to freeze etc). When alt-tabbing to another application and back, everything is…

Extensions
Okay, so the new update of illustrator is still as laggy, as before, if not more, the extensions doesn't show up, nor work, you can't remove an extension and you can't add a new one.
And don't tell me to install it manually, because honestly, this is not why I'm paying a monthly subscription since 2015.If whenever I have a problem I have to go through a thousand threads and check a thousand suggestions, I have no idea why I'm paying a monthly subscription, when I can just buy another program ONE TIME.
Or use pirated versions :)So…

automatic quitting when clicking the red close button
When clicking on the RED "Close" button, Illustrator prompts me to either (Save what's on the clipboard" or "Discard". Then automatically quits. EVERY SINGLE TIME. This is NOT right no matter what your tech support peons were told to say.

AI 2020 (v24) fails to open - error loading plugins
Illustrator 2020 (v24) crashes on launch. I am running it on an iMac running under OS 10.14.6.
I attempted to open Illustrator by clicking the Open button within the Creative Cloud launch window and by double-clicking the AI app within the application folder. Both launches resulted in the following error being reported, then the application failed to open:
Error loading plugins.
SmartExport.aip

Scripting: move selection to layer doesn't work if layer is not visible
When moving selected elements to a layer, if that layer's visibility is set to false, it reports that it cannot move elements to a locked layer. However, it's not locked, it's just not visible. I do this all the time by physically dragging to a layer that is not currently visible. I was able to work around it by setting visibility to true, moving the elements, then making it false again, but it seems like a bug.

"show images in outline mode" doesn't work (Document Setup)
Image doesn't show when option is on. It used to a while ago...
3 votesThis option only works when you are viewing your documents as outline using CPU mode only, not GPU. While this is a known problem, voting for this issue is important for the team to estimate the importance of this limitation.

Ai files saved on Windows loose their preview when changing extension to .ait
To prevent accidentally saving over common library files (stock graphics and the like) we save our artwork files as .ai, then change the extension to .ait so that they will open as an untitled file. There are a couple of reasons I do things this way instead of saving them as .ait files from the get go.

Hide artboards in trim view is not available
The ability to hide artboards in trim view is not available... Why? At certain times I don't want to see the black artboard line. Please add this functionality. Illustrator 24, high sierra 10.13.3

Everything gets converted to RGB
I can't create a file in CMYK color format... everything, even previous files, have been converted to RGB. HELP!

Lost Feature
Before the last update I used to be able to draw a square or ellipse then type the location I wanted to place it, X or Y. Now that is gone. Now I have to open another box "TRANSFORM" in order to place the shape exactly where I wanted it. Very inconvenient. If I at least had the ability to dock that box at the top it would make life much easier. It has been at the top for as long as I can remember. I often use this like a CAD software when I draw. Illustrator 24.2 tab stops not working with blank text lines
Tab stops do not function correctly when the text line has no text. We commonly use this for creating underlines. Attached examples show a text field with tab stops. The text lines with characters use the tab stops correctly (spaces do not count). Any text lines without characters cause the tab stops to be one space wide.

offset path doesn't work with simple shapes like a circle
OS: Windows 10
Illustrator CC 2020 Build 24.3 (64 Bit)
I can't offset any type of shape and do the "Ctrl + D" trick anymore

Illustrator's Artboard does not update live
I am on a 2017 MacBook Air running macOS Catalina (10.15.5). My Illustrator version is 24.2.1. I haven't seen anything else about this problem on here. After doing anything such as creating a pen stroke or trying to fit the artboard to the screen, the artboard will not update and will only do so once I have used the zoom tool in some fashion.

svg export fails to export image
for the current version of AI (24.3).
When exporting a svg via save-as with an artboard, images part of the canvas are not preserved, or exported, or linked. The resulting svg preserves the vector data, but anything related to the raster graphics is missing.
this behavior seems to be inconsistent, as sometimes masked images do export, while other times they do not.

Color Picker Selects White Instead of Black
Very bizarre problem:
- I will create a new object using the pen tool.
- I select the Stroke Color icon and choose black for a border color.
- Illustrator will invariably select white instead of black. I will have to go back to the color picker and select black again for it to stick. Really irritating.

Text overset icon appears on final exported image

Summary
Just updated to Illustrator 24.0, and had an artboard with overset text. When I performed an "Export for Screens", I noted the overset icon informing me I had text overset in the textbox. However, I knew the relevant text was actually visible — so I continued with the export. In the final image, I found the text overset icon was actually exported as a part of the artwork. (See attached example: "Artboard 1.png")

Issues with saving
2020 update often gives error while saving. It says the file cannot be saved. It then deletes the current file I'm working on, opens up a new window and I have to click save - as if I pressed "Save As..."
It happens quite often when I press "Cmd + S" to just save my artwork.

Smart Guide glitch
I am making icons in Illustrator.
- Created a 1000px x 1000px file.
- Set horizontal & vertical guides at midpoints - 500px, so the intersection is accurate centre of the document.
- Using the pen tool, I hover to get the smart guide to snap to guide. BUT!!!! It snaps at position 500.5px not 500.0p.x Both horizontal & vertical are affected.The picture shows the "smart guides" assisting at the wrong point. The cursor vanished for the screenshot, but is hovering on "intersect".
