1. SVG files won't open in Illustrator 2026. Works in earlier versions (tested in 2024)

   SVG files won't open in Illustrator 2026. I can open them in Illustrator 2024, and paste them into 2026. But opening the file in 2026 results in a totally blank artboard. Perhaps the parse is broken? Something got worse between these versions...

2. W-Hの数値がリンクアイコンがアクティブなのにリンクしない

   1. Illustratorを起動して、新規ドキュメントを開き、アートボード上に矩形を描く。
   2. コントロールバーのWをクリックしてパネルを展開する。

   4. リンクアイコンがアクティブになっているにも関わらずWとHの数値がリンクしない。親元のコントロールバーでは正常にリンクしている。

   期待する結果
   リンクアイコンの表示どおりWとHの値がリンクする。

   片方の入力にもう一方が追随しない。

   代替の手順。
   数字を入力する前にアクティブになっているリンクアイコンをクリックしてオフにし、再度クリックしてリンクをアクティブにする。

   The issue seems to visible at our end after closing the Illustrator and reopening the file. However, it is just the value does not get updated in the pop up panel. The transformation change on the object happens fine and is reflected properly in the properties panel as well. Let us know if you are experience similar behavior or not.

3. Illustrator 29.7.1 changes units to points and resets other values after changing Keyboard Increment value when Search field has text in it

   Another paradox is that version 29.7.1 of Illustrator constantly changes the units from px to points after entering an new value in keyboard increment. Does it happen to anybody else?

4. Illustrator 30.3 Font Handling Issue

   The new 30.3 update for Mac introduced "improved font handling in Illustrator (macOS) for better consistency and reduced reliance on unsupported system resources"

   However, this seems to have broken auto font activation with the Typeface font manager.

   Is there a way to get this fixed?

5. Object appearance defaults when selecting new colors (white fill, black stroke)

   When selecting a new color swatch value from the menu (see image) often times when the document has first been opened or an object has not been selected during this session, any selected objects revert to the default appearance - 1 pt outline, black stroke, white fill - regardless of what they were before. Then you have to undo what happened and try again to apply your changes. It's a minor inconvenience, but it only showed up in the last 3 updates. A clean install doesn't fix this issue. This can happen just a single time, or multiple times with a file.

   The latest build 30.2.1 doesn’t do this anymore, works as expected.

6. Rich tool tips keep popping up

   Rich tool tips are always randomly opening and staying open something even when I am on other side of screen. Hard to take a screen shot, as when I click to screen shot the tool tips disappear. It's been happening on 2 different machines running Sonoma for about 1 year. Never used to happen.

7. Script selection/appearance modification causes error 8702

   I am using a script to change the appearance of an object (fill color of an ellipse shape). Since there is no way to access appearance properties directly (which would be lovely to get someday), I am using a known workaround with defaultFillColor on the selected document.

   app.activeDocument.selection = [item.obj];
   app.activeDocument.defaultFillColor = item.newCol;
   

   Unfortunately, the selection seems to leave Illustrator in a weird state, and any further script command (e.g. next iteration of the loop) fails with "Error 8702: there is no active document."

   This sometimes goes away if I use CPU instead of GPU preview, though not reliably. And the error is not thrown if there is no update to the fill color (i.e. the object already had the correct color).

   This is on version 30.2.1 and macOS 26.3 on apple silicon. I was successfully using the same script for years prior to a few weeks ago, so this might be a recent change. I also tested the latest Illustrator beta, and the error is still there.

   I am happy to share the script and illustrator file that trigger the error if needed.

8. プリセットのB6サイズについて

   IllustratorのプリセットのB6サイズは125 mm×176 mmですが、日本の規格はB6サイズ182mm×128mmです。
   他の投稿より引用ですが、プリセットは、B4とB5はJISで、他のB系は国際規格になっているので、統一してほしいです。

   Should be fixed in the latest Beta build 30.4.42 — please update and check if it’s truly fixed, and comment back if it’s still a jumble or you find other inconsistencies.

9. Image Map URL Links Disappear in PDF Export

   Issue occurs in Illustrator 2025 (29.6) and later versions

   Description:
   URL links configured through the Attributes panel’s Image Map feature are not preserved in exported PDFs, despite enabling the “Preserve Hyperlinks” option in PDF export settings.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   1. Create a new document
   2. Create an object (e.g., rectangle, text, etc.)
   3. Select the object and enter a URL in the Attributes panel → Image Map
   4. Create a new layer above the current layer
   5. Export as PDF with “Preserve Hyperlinks” enabled in export settings
   6. Open the exported PDF in Adobe Acrobat

   Expected Result:
   URL links should be clickable and functional in the exported PDF.

   Actual Result:
   URL links are missing/non-functional in the exported PDF.

   Root Cause:
   This bug occurs specifically when there is an additional layer positioned above the layer containing the object with the image map URL. Objects on layers without overlying layers export hyperlinks correctly.
   The issue occurs even when “Create Acrobat Layers” is unchecked.

   Workaround:
   Merge all layers into one before exporting to PDF.

   Having a layer above the layer with hyperlinks now works as expected in Beta 30.0.0.114

10. New Glitch in Smart Guides, highlighting perspective grid-like points

    Theres a new update glitch in smart guides, when I have an object selected, a bunch of perspective grid-like highlights.

    This setting is connected with object highlighting in smart guide settings. If i shut off object highlighting in Illustrator>Preferences>Smart Guides>Object Highlighting, the issue stops.

    Seems like just a new bug glitch in a recent illustrator update.

11. Color Mixer in Control and Properties panels gets broken after using Tab

    The Color Mixer in Properties and Control works oddly. Here, I try to navigate my fields with Tab, and then drag one slider — boom, it all breaks: sliders vanish, active fields become visually inactive, closing it becomes very hard...

    I feel like it started happening when the generative virus put its tendrils into Ai.

12. Using Image Trace with specific settings generates large black blob made of gigantic black circles

    Image Trace yields a black blob when adjusting the settings now. For instance, it renders a details drawing into a clump when changing the settings to have 1% for the corners slider. This bug is in AI 2026 only.

13. Images disappear or become corrupted after drag and drop on Mac

    Illustrator 29.4
    Drag and drop from a Browser to an Artboard
    Use Cmd Shift 4 and drag a screendump to an artboard
    Drag and Drop from Photoshop a layer with transparency to an Illustrator artboard.

    Saving and opening the Illustrator file makes it disappear or gives some distorted lines.

14. リピートグリッド適用時に塗りのみのオブジェクトが透明になる

    概要
    塗りのみ（線なし）に色を設定した複数のオブジェクトを選択してリピートグリッドを適用すると、最左のオブジェクト以外が透明になり、正常に表示されない。

    再現手順

    1.塗りのみに色を設定したオブジェクトを2つ以上作成する
    2.すべてのオブジェクトを選択する
    3.リピートグリッドを適用する

    期待される動作
    ・すべてのオブジェクトがリピートグリッド内で正しく表示される。

    実際の動作
    ・最左のオブジェクトのみ表示され、それ以外のオブジェクトが透明になる。

    補足情報
    オブジェクトは透明に見えるが、実際には存在しており、分割・拡張または書き出しを行うと表示される
    塗りと線の両方を設定したオブジェクトが含まれる場合、バグは発生しない

    以下の操作でバグが回避される：
    ・環境設定の「GPUパフォーマンス」を無効にする
    ・「オーバープリントプレビュー」を有効にする

    Windows版でも報告があります。

15. Em dash incorrectly rotates upright in vertical text layout

    Illustrator 2025 (29.8.1) (29.8.2) Japanese

    Em dashes are Latin characters, so in vertical text layout they should be rotated sideways like other alphanumeric characters.
    However, in v29.8.2, Em dashes are rotated upright like Japanese characters. This is clearly a bug.

16. Images and Shadows Not Rendering Correctly

    I am having issues with build 29.8.2.
    When I link photos to my artboards and add drop shadows to shapes or objects, the display is not rendering them. It will show them, but if I move or zoom out, sometimes they go away. And if I export my artboards, these issues carry over. The images dont export, there is just a grey circle where that masked image is supposed to be. And shadows from one object to the next are different, just not even there. How can I fix this?

18. Images embedded disappear after reopening the file 2025

    This problem has been occurring for a few weeks: when I reopen a file containing embedded images, they disappear, turn white, or turn the original image color.

    In 15 years of using ILLUSTRATOR, this has never happened, and it's truly annoying. Some files contain more than 50 images, and if a small one disappears, it's unmanageable.

    The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with all files; it's random.

    I'm working with Illustrator 30.0, but the same thing happened with 29.8.3.

    Looking through various forums, you may already be aware of this problem.

    Please fix it, as we pay a very expensive subscription.

    In 15 years of using ILLUSTRATOR, this has never happened, and it's truly annoying. Some files contain more than 50 images, and if a small one disappears, it's unmanageable.

    The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with all files; it's random.

    I'm working with Illustrator 30.0, but the same thing happened with 29.8.3.

    Looking through various forums, you may already be aware of this problem.

19. Exporting To SVG Format

    Illustrator 30.2.1 has a consistent SVG exporting bug. I created some images containing gradients. When I export to SVG the first time, AI will create a correct SVG file. However, subsequent exports, AI will leave out all gradients. If I close the file and reopen it, the cycle repeats.

20. Transparency mask bugs with "Gaussian Blur" effect applied inside the mask

    I've got an object with a transparency mask applied which contains a "Gaussian Blur" effect, when I want to align it with the Properties panel"(copy of the first object - pasted on second object), the effects change totally (I need to change the blur from 80 to 30 to have nearly the same effect.
