  1. Default Template Folder

    Version 23.0 no longer opens template files from the default "Cool Extras" folder. Instead it navigates to the last folder saved. Please revert this back as it is a huge waste of time creating new documents now.

    This also occurs for scripts, but I use less frequently and have dealt with it. Unacceptable for template files however.

  2. Constantly Crashes while opening file in newest AI v23.0.2

    Repeated Crashes while trying to open AI file
    Unistalled and Installed again
    Issue persists

  3. Illustrator cc2019(v23.0)

    環境設定でテキストオブジェクトの選択範囲をパスに制限にチェックを入れると、選択範囲がシビアすぎて全く選択できません。
    これまでのバージョンはパスの近くをクリックすると選択できました。
    選択できる範囲をこれまでのように戻してください。

  4. (signo precaución) No se pudo leer el archivo debido a un error

    Cuando coloco algunas imágenes (JPG, JPEG, etc.) Me aparece el mensaje escrito en el título "No se pudo leer el archivo debido a un error". Qué pasa!!, no entiendo? ayuda por favor, necesitó trabajar con las imágenes que no me permite abrir AI.

    Lo peor es que no solo me pasa con AI, también con PSD

  5. Placed AI file in Photoshop as smart object won't launch Illustrator to edit anymore

    Using Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134, Illustrator 23.0.1, Photoshop 20.0.0
    With both Illustrator and Photoshop open, do the following:
    1. Create a file in Illustrator (1 rectangle)
    2. Save as .ai file, compatible w/17+, Create PDF compatible, Embed ICC Profiles, Use Compression
    3. Make new Photoshop file
    4. Place embedded & navigate to .ai file
    5. Open as smart object (page)
    6. Commit transform
    7. Double-click thumbnail icon to edit in Illustrator
    8. Get the following error, " Could not edit original smart object because the application which created the smart object could not be launched."

  6. No de-selection of gradient Point / Appearance panel behaviour in AI23

    If I edited a gradient point once, the selected point stays selected forever. I is possible for me to select another gradient point, but not de-select the point.

    Why would this be necessary?
    Because, when I edit some stacked layers of gradients in the appearance panel (what I do very often), the editing of the gradient hides the complete appearance, showing only the highlighted color swatch of the gradient point in the appearance panel.
    The only way to get the whole appearance visible again in the panel, is to swith to another tool (i.e. selection tool). This is very time…

    Hi Marek & Dllyana,

    Thanks for sharing this issue,Illustrator team really appreciate this.
    You can deselect the selected color stop via Escape key when you are in gradient tool. I hope this works for you as a workaround to deselect the selected color stop.

  7. Keyboard Increments in preferences doesn't work.

    I set my Keyboard Increment to .0139 and anchor points move correctly. Then I change it to .00139, which has alway worked in the past, it now jumps about 10X the correct distance. I restarted. No change. I uninstalled, then reinstalled. No change. I restarted my computer. No change. I can't work with it like this. How do I get this fixed?

  8. Shortcut not working

    Win10 cc2019 azerty KB : CTRL + ; shortcut (hide guides does not work for no apparent reason.) If I try to assign another combo CTRL + , it works fine. Any reason why ?

  9. Image Trace over a white square on color mode with 2 colors crashes Illustrator

    This is a bug that happens on all versions of Illustrator, even CC 2019, and regardless of OS.
    It's very specific, but here are the steps:
    Create a new document. Color Mode doesn't matter.
    Draw a square with only a white fill.
    Rasterize it. Resolution and color mode doesn't matter.
    Run Image Trace on it
    In the Image Trace settings, set the Mode to Color and the number of colors set to 2.
    Illustrator will crash.
    Try it out! The expected result is probably just the same as if the number of colors was set to 3 or anything else…

  10. What video formats can we upload to bug requests?

    I used to be able to upload videos to the bug reports but now no matter what format I seem to choose, I get a note that the format cannot upload. Furthermore, the bug report gets posted anyway without notice so if I try to upload a different format the post is double posted.

    Can you please tell us what types of formats are allowed?

    We receive videos in form of .mov, .mp4 and at times even .mpg.
    This portal allows attachments up to 50 mb and you can use any format for it. Is it possible there is a software or an browser extention that is troubling you. Can you please try this bug form from another browser or computer.

  11. Uninstalling old version breaks windows preview handler for new version.

    When uninstalling an older version of illustrator, the windows preview handler for AI files gets removed such that it no longer functions for newer versions of illustrator that are already installed. The only resolution is to uninstall the newer version and reinstall which can be a pain, or manually modify the registry entries to assign the PDF handler to AI files.

  12. Split to grid on multiple artboards

    Tdlr: horisontal guides made with "split to grid" go onto the first artboard, when they shouldn't.

    I use split to grid to make myself a grid to work on and it works fine on a single artboard. But if i try to make split to grid on any other artboard than the first one, it sends the horisontal guides to the first artboard and keeps the vertical ones on the correct one. The lines stay grouped and can be moved, but it takes extra time and effort.
    This happended on different machines.

    Can’t reproduce in the latest version.

    The description is no exactly clear, so it’d be nice to get a video of the behavior, along with the exact steps: what configuration of artboards do you have, what and how do you split exactly, what do you do next to make guides.

  13. copy and paste at original position fails from time to time

    I love the to copy and paste object at same position in an other artboard.

    1. macOS High Sierra + latest Illustrator
    2. copy, select artboard paste at same position 3 appears in selected artboard at same position 4 copy and pastes somewheere else – not in that artboard

  15. eyedropper tool

    I have never had to ungroup objects to get the eye dropper tool to apply selected attributes to an object. This no longer works without ungrouping objects.

    I have never had to ungroup objects to change the color of an object selecting a color from swatches. This no longer works without ungrouping objects.

    I have posted a thread with all the screenshots you could ever need and the this appears to be a glitch that needs fixing...really, really bad. The solution to the issue from my thread was to post the problem here.

    Above the top ruler I should be able to see a tab, or multiple tabs when several files are open. However all that is shown is a cropped "Ai" ident. This means the only way I can flick between files is by through "Window" in the top panel.

  17. Recolor artwork window stops working shortly after opening (Illustrator CC2018)

    Im using Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 on macOS High Sierra (10.13.2).
    I'm trying to recolor my artwork but the window accessed via Edit colors > recolor Artwork freezes shortly after using it.

    Everything remains responsive except that when I click any part of the window there is no response from Illustrator. I can still move the window around but cannot exit it. The OS doesn't recognize it as a crash (no "not responding" message).

    I've been working on the same document in Illustrator CC 2017, recoloring worked fine in then.

    Any idea how to fix this?

  18. Illustrator won't open any files

    Since the new update I am completely unable to open any AI or PDF file in Illustrator. Nothing will open, just the rainbow ball of death forever until I have to Force Quit. I've uninstalled Illustrator and even installed earlier versions with no luck. I've 'repaired' Creative Cloud with also no luck.

    I'm working on MacOS High Sierra (10.13.6), Illustrator v23

    A couple times I've gotten an error message that says: "cannot open ___ file because this file does not exist."

    Please help!

  19. windows maximize only takes a 1/4th of the screen

    whenever I full-screen illustrator flashes to fill the entire window then only fills the top left 1/4th of the window.
