Illustrator won't open .AI or Jpg files
Hi,
I'm currently using Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz on Windows 10 with version 24.1.2 of Illustrator.
I only started using software today (so i'm very much a beginner) and I have gone to open .ai and .jpeg but a tab pops up stating 'the file "abc" is an unknown format and cannot be opened'.
Can you help me fix this please.
I can't find any answers anywhere.

Duplicating an Artboard with art on it and then Undoing it, causes crash
if you drag and artboard with art on it while holding option to duplicate, it duplicates fine, but if you Undo, the duplicated artboard remains and you can't delete. sometimes if you try and select the artboard illustrator will crash. the only way to update is to reopen the affected file.

File > Save not saving in the newest version format
Since vr 24.1.1, "File > Save" automatically saves legacy versions of illustrator as the same legacy version. This means any files made pre this version all come up with this and I have to use "File > Save As" every time.
Previously any file I worked with, I could use "File > Save" and it would save as the newest version of AI (maybe with the exception of very older file types like CS ones). Not sure if there's an option I can change to switch it back? As this is slowing my work flow.

Multiple selections for converting to greyscale not working
After selecting multiple objects, and choosing Edit - Edit Colors - Convert to Greyscale, it no longer works. Objects must be selected one at a time for the command to work. Win10, Illustrator 24.2.1

Creative Cloud library assets make Illustrator Crash

Illlustrator CC 2019 and Illustrator CC2020I'm using a lot the creative cloud Libraries in Illustrator.
Many times, when I create an asset in the library by dragging and dropping it into a group, the asset crashes Illustrator when I try to open it to modify it.1 vote -
Constraint not working properly in Properties
I'm using adobe illustrator cc 24.1.2 on Windows 10 v 1903, The constraint function in the properties tab is not working properly for me. When i press the constraint button, the height and width proportion should stay the same when i change one number, but it changes them to be slightly off. If i make a circle 500 x 500, constrain the dimensions, and change the height to 250, it changes the width to 249.499. It doesn't matter what numbers i use, it will always change the other dimension to be slightly off what it should be.

Rotate lagging/hangs, whenever I'm in rotate tool and rotating lines or objects, sometimes I experience lagging about 1 - 2 minutes
it stucks on this cursor here(image attached), it will last 30 seconds - 1-2 minutes, been dealing with this for a long time.
Looking forward for the fix.

Editing text with warp doesn't update
Editing text that has a Warp effect applied does not update on screen or even in a saved PDF until the warp effect is turned off then on again in the Appearance panel. See the attachments where I have changed the bolded word 'egg' to a roman type weight. In the second warped screenshot it is still bold. This bug has only started since the very latest general release of Illustrator: v24.1. Occurs in MacOS 10.15.3 and in MacOS 10.14.6

Tabs randomly stop functioning, will only show one project
Since one of the recent CC updates at the end of February, both Illustrator and Photoshop have been having a glitch multiple times a day with their tabs. You'll go into the program and see one of your projects open, but when you click on another tab it still shows the original project. The only way you can see your other projects is if you take them off the tab bar into a separate window. All tool panels behave exactly the same. when I open Illustrator there are no tools showing
I can't see my tools in Illustrator and I can't change or reset my Workspace :(
I'm able to add some things like the Toolbar and Swatches/Layers/Etc windows, but I'm never able to see it complete, with that top bar that includes the Align + Transform + Etc
Usually setting the Workspace to Essentials Classic does the job... please help!

cannot duplicate or move artboards
Cannot duplicate or move artboards with artwork in Illustrator 2020. Artboard will merely move with the artwork contained when hitting opt+click. Can only duplicate artboards without artwork.

Cursor stuck on hand
The cursor is stuck on the hand tool in all my adobe apps so I cannot use them at all.

Split into Grid doesn’t work for objects smaller than 4.25 mm
I've stumbled across a glitch in the Split into Grid code which prevents objects with dimensions smaller than 5mm from being split. See the video for a demonstration.

SVG Stroke Widths are not scaled according to viewBox
MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
Illustrator CC 2019- rename the attached .txt file to .svg and import the SVG file into Illustrator.
expected: it should display two horizontal lines
actual: it appears as a rectangle because the lines are touchinghere are two lines, 200px apart, with 100px stroke width in a 500x500 SVG with a viewbox of 1000x1000. since the viewbox is twice the size of the SVG document, the stroke width should be scaled down to 50px and the lines should not overlap.

Zoom in keyboard shortcut bug
Since the update to Illustrator v. 24.1 the zoom in keyboard shortcut (cmd +) no longer works. The zoom out function (cmd -) does continue to work. I have the same issue in Adobe Acrobat. Any fixes would be appreciated.

Anchor pointer options becomes active while having a drawing tool (rectangle, line etc) active
Draw some shapes. Now try to draw another shape/line starting from one of the anchor point of the previous shape. You can't because the anchor selection tool becomes active and it will take over the action. Thsi wasn't like that.
The alternative is to draw shapes somewhere else and move afterwards the anchors to snap together. But is very annoying !!!!
Please fix it.
Why the old applications work the best and the newer ones are totally messed up? Why break a thing that works?1 vote -
Workspace & Tool Panels Appear/Disappear Continually--AI CC 2020
My Workspace panels & Tool panel continually disappear and reappear when I move my mouse. I cannot figure out how to restore them in a fixed position on my screen.

Find and replace superscript
I've tried copying the superscripted text to the clipboard and pasting in the Replace box of the Find and Replace dialog, but it loses the superscripting, and pastes into the document without it. I find I have to go into each occurrence individually and superscript each one.

Can't select multiple anchor points with direct selection tool
The Direct Selection Tool does not select anchor points. When the DS tool hovers over object, the outline appears, but no anchor points appear. Neither can be selected and activated. When DS tool hovers over an anchor point, I can move that one point only. DS tool behaves exactly same as Anchor Point Tool. I cannot select several anchor points at once, and move / align / delete / distribute / join them. Win 10.1903 AI 24.0
4 votesAs per the comment, this can happen due to the accidentally hiding the edges with Cmd/Ctrl + H hotkey (View > Show/Hide Edges).
