1. Direct Selection Tool on Control Handles Doesn't Work Properly After Puppet Warp

   Normally, you can adjust a single control handle of an anchor point with the Direct Selection tool without affecting the other control handle. But after you perform a Puppet Warp on a shape, this is no longer the case. Using the Direct Selection tool on a control handle affects both handles simultaneously. 2. Diagrams pasted from Excel (Office 365 version) to Adobe Illustrator on Mac cannot show correct font of numbers and characters

   It seems that the original versions of Excel (such as Office 2013 and 2016) do not have this problem. However, diagrams pasted from Excel to clipboard is correct. So there may be some problem in transferring diagrams from latest Excel version.

3. Placing SVG object locks AI for >5 seconds

   Hello,

   On some AI installations, Placing an SVG file locks up AI for a 'long' time. Clicking makes the screen go black. After a relatively long wait, even for a trivial SVG file, the SVG object can be placed on the canvas. Placing a png does not show that slow down. On most machines this is not experienced

   What could be the cause of this?

4. Illustrator 23.1 (64bit) hangs - hourly

   Didn't have a problem with previous versions.
   Updated to v23.1 (64bit) Windows 10 Home 1903 and regularly hangs.
   Sometimes hangs while working. Usually hangs when opening a new file, particularly when already have a file open. The files I'm using are less than 1mb so shouldn't cause issue.

6. Heavy upload to adobe.io (amazon) without files opened

   During one week I left Illustrator opened.
   During this week, Illustrator upload 21 Gb of data!

7. VoiceOver is not speaking in all of the Adobe software

   I am visually impaired, I have a hard time navigating around all of the Adobe softwares on the Mac. I use VoiceOver on my Mac as my screen reader. I was hoping if you could fix this problem as soon as possible. I am in college and I really need to use Adobe software in my corse.

8. Why is illustrator running so slow on my laptop?

   Illustrator runs really slow on my laptop running windows 10. It is provided by my employer and is one of the fastest you can currently buy. Im running 16mb RAM.
   A simple logo takes a minute or more to open. BUT when I take my laptop offline it seems to work alot quicker.
   No such issues with InDesign or Photoshop.
   So Illustrator seems to want to know everything I do and slows my workflow down massively. When I have a complicated peice of work I am waiting five minutes or more for it to either open or save. I save regularly as I don't like losing and redoing work when there is a crash.
   Can you please please sort it out. We pay for this and expect a certain level of quality and this is costing me money in added time to complete any work. ie it takes me much longer to complete a project.
   I bet you nothing will come of this post that helps me or sorts the issue.
   Adobe don't get in touch or listen to us.

9. cannot place image into Illustrator.

   Cannot place or drage image to illustrator.
   Sometimes only a rectangle with X in the middle appears, or just the selection pointer appears after I try to place (using the menu) or dragging an image to the Illustrator.
   I used different *.png, *.jpg files and I could not place image in the illustrator.
   Need help.
   I use Windows 10.

10. Bad translation in French for Embed a Linked Image command

    I wanted to draw your attention on a problematic/erratic translation in the french version of illustrator (formerly it was ok, up to CC) : when you want to incorporate/embed a linked image, you go to the links panel menu, and instead of having "incorporer l'image" (incorportae/embed the picture), the option is "image(s) incorporée(s)" which means "incorporatED images", which is wrong, and totally misleading/confusing as it means the same as the other option, saying "montrer les images incorporer" (show incorporated images).

    You really should correct this… and reactivate the possibility to incorporate images just by double-clicking an image in the links panel (before it worked like this, this action opened a pop up askin "do you want to incorporate/embed the picture").

    This problem drove me crazy, I spent a day looking for this function, when it was just there, in front of my eyes but the badly translated.
    It REALLY is misleading… please take it in consideration since it used to be correct before (at least until CS6 -> I went from CS6 directly to CC2019)

12. Glyph rendering bug with non-empty space char on OT-SVG fonts

    The space character is not rendered consistently when it includes an SVG glyph:

    • The glyph is invisible by default
    • But - as expected - it is visible in full color when moving the text object, and in greyscale version when switching to Outline mode

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

13. Resizing a new document window is broken

    When creating a new document the widow goes full screen, when I try to resize using the bottom right corner to resize window, it automatically grows larger than the screen size and can't grab the corner... then when I do get the corner back on the screen trying to resize just doesn't work well, it’s very slow and largish and half the time it won't resize it jumps back to full or only partially resizes... never did this before and it’s a pain. I spend 10 min trying to get the window like I want it to be nearly every time I open a new file. (running on iMac 10.14.1 with Retina 5K, 27-inch)

14. Fonts not updating on the fly

    Copied from my forum inquiry that I eventually solved on my own...

    I am a type designers & I use illustrator in building & testing fonts as part of my production workflow. I use the same array of font apps along with my cc2019 suite on 2 different machines. One is a mac mini one is an imac, both are on the latest mac os.

    On the mac mini, with Illustrator open I can see changes to a font immediately reflected in the document. In other words if I replace a .otf or .ttf font file installed at mac hd/library/fonts any changes in that font immediately update in the open .ai document. If I install a new font the font will immediately pop up in the font menu.

    On my imac neither of these things work. I need to quit & restart Illustrator to see new fonts, some fonts refuse to ever show up at all & I can not see any changes made to existing fonts unless I quit & restart Illustrator.

    I've been searching & searching & trying everything for hours & hours & I can't fix it. Any clue would be greatly appreciated.

    The solution...

    Both the problem & the solution are similar to issues I was having with Dreamweaver cc2019 on the same machine. In both cases all menu based & keystroke based methods or purging &/or resetting the app preferences & cached data failed to solve the issue. In both cases I needed to find the offending pref or cache file and MANUALLY delete (or remove) it.

    While it was a slightly more obscure file in the case of Dreamweaver, in the case of Illustrator the offending file was the main prefs file "Adobe Illustrator Prefs" located at:
    harddrivename/users/username/Library/preferences/Adobe Illustrator 23 Settings/en_US/Adobe Illustrator Prefs

    The hard reset of preferences done by option>command>shift while starting Illustrator failed to purge whatever bad data was causing Illustrator to refuse to update fonts on the fly. Only manual removal of this file fixed the problem. The file will be regenerated automatically the next time Illustrator is started up.

    Purging of any of the specifically font related prefs/caches did not seem to help at all.

    The app seems to behave as expected now. If I modify a font & install a new .otf or .ttf under identical names, version numbers etc. Illustrator will imediately recognize & display the changes live in the document with no need to close & reopen the doc, restart the app or the machine or reset any panels.

15. Free Distort doesn't apply to certain gradient strokes

    I was working on a type effect when I realized the Free Distort filter (found under Effect > Distort & Transform > Free Distort) doesn't apply when the selected object uses a stroke with a gradient that is applied along or across the stroke. Is this intentional? I hope it isn't since it doesn't seem intentional.

    Here's how I did it.
    Create a rectangle. Make sure it has a fill color. Then add a stroke and pick a gradient. Change the stroke style to be either the second or third option. Then apply the Free Distort filter to the object (not to the fill or stroke specifically) and distort the shape in any way. The fill gets distorted as expected, but the stroke stays the same. Only the first stroke option allows it to be distorted correctly with the fill.

    I've been able to recreate this on both of my Windows machines. One is Windows 7 and the other is Windows 10 and both are on the latest versions available.

    In the attached file, I have a sample set up where this happens. If the Free Distort filter is above the stroke effect, the effect works as intended, but not if it's under the stroke, so this definitely seems inconsistent.

16. Version 23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert All Text to Outlines" Not Working

    In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.

    I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

    How is this issue considered “expected behavior” when:

    1) Setting Adobe PDF presets and Transparency Flattener presets to "convert text to outlines" is a feature of the software
    2) It has worked flawlessly in ALL previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign

    This is a pretty common practice that designers use when creating print documents. Most printers require all text to be outlines when receiving project files. It is very time consuming to manually change all text to outlines when you're working with a 100+ page project file. This feature, which I and countless others use on a daily basis, prevents the error of accidentally saving over a working file as well as saving time when preparing documents for print.

    If this feature (which is still showing as a feature in the current version) has been removed, I deeply implore you to bring this feature back.

17. New document window sticks to single space when working in macOS

    When you start a new document, if you switch spaces in macOS Mojave, the new document window sticks to the original space it was opened in instead of following the user from space to space. This can lead one to think that Illustrator is frozen or stuck as the workspace is locked when the new document window is open. Double clicking Illustrator on the dock does not switch the user back to the space the new document window is in.

19. eyedroper doesnt work anymore over symbols, neither bitmaps

    In the past, eyedropper tool was working with symbol, right now completely ignores it and pick whatever object is behind.

20. Ai quits unexpectedly constantly

    working on a new or existing file, Ai unexpectedly quits: on save, quits when i choose "edit link" and quits randomly- no idea why. does not save file at all, as if the file never existed and i need to start from scratch every time, even if i previously saved my work!
