2. Embedding illustrator files creates bigger artwork than original

   I use a lot old (or not that old) artwork into some new client jobs (eg: a logo or a background for a new project for consistency purposes) and sometimes embedding prior illustrator files in illustrator creates bigger artwork than original. (when I mean bigger is size i'm talking about. eg.: a square in original file was 10x10mm and when embedded gets 13x13mm)

   It happens only when embedding and the only workaround is using flatten transparency.

   I still don't know what exactly triggers this issue as it happens with seemingly random files.

3. Zoomed out of properties panel

   I think I was holding command + scrolling on the magic mouse while hovering over the properties panel. Now it's super small and I can't zoom out.

   Your expected result : To scroll down to reveal more in the properties panel

   Your actual result: UI of Properties panel scaled down in size.

   macOS Mojave 10.14.15
   Ai 23.0.5

   Restarting the application reset the scale of the panel.

   Is there a way to turn this off so I can't accidentally resize the panel?

4. Moving artwork generates copies along its path

   After spending hours on a logo design, I selected all of the art, resized it to fit the canvas, and then moved it over a few spaces to the right. When moving the artwork to the right, illustrator began to generate copies of the art every time I tapped the right arrow key. This mass copying then made the application crash. I am able to open the file but my layers now have hundreds of sublayers in each of them!

   I have used illustrator for years and never seen this before.

   I am running on Windows 10

   Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU
   16gb RAM
   64-bit operating system

5. Stroke/Fill Selection From Library

   1. Windows 10 Pro 10.0.17763 Build 17763
   2. I change the stroke color in appearance menu from library (created in Adobe Colours), which at first works, if I the for the same element or a different element in my graphic try to change the fill from the library, it will still change the stroke. Happens vise versa as well with fill first. Sometimes it resets if I do some other operation in between and I can suddenly change the other colour fill/stroke, but its irratic. But always depends on first action.

6. Small negatiive Offset Path Pica values don't work

   Use Picas as document unit.
   Select an object
   Use Offset Path (Effect or Object Menu option)
   Try toEnter a small negative value like -0p5
   It wont allow you to use a negative value.between 0p0 and -0p11
   Switching to a different document unit works.

7. Very glitchy Free Transform tool

   This sure can't be right - I can't always get this to occur, but when it does happen, it's super annoying. When scaling using the Free Transform tool, there's this choppiness that doesn't allow me to control the scaling. Right now, my best work around is to enter dimension values in the Control Palette rather than use this tool at all. In the video the choppiness during the text object's decrease in size is where I'm undoing the scaling. I don't know if that helps, but maybe it will help to know that the choppy scaling is done in steps rather than in one smooth motion. I'm using the tool without letting go of it, so there should be no time when the tool stops scaling. Please fix!

   My operating system: 10.14.6
   Illustrator version 23.0.6

8. Type size shortcut doesn't work

   Cmd + shift + > for enlarging the type doesn't work both on my Illustrator & Photoshop.

   For reducing the size, it works well. (cmd+shift+<) I did reset both of them, and it fix the problem just a while before it's coming back.

9. Choosing Fit On Screen option from the dropdown in the status bar pans to next mouse click position

   When I click fit on screen in the screen size (I don't know the actual name of the option thing) option it fits to the screen THEN will move to where the mouse is clicked next, just like the zoom tool. This is decreasing efficiency of the app for me.

11. illustrator wont open file windows

    I have searched the support site and user voice with no results.

    When I attempt to drag an *.ai file from the explorer window to Illustrator, or when I double click the file, it does not open. When I double click the file, Illustrator opens or switches to the window, my cursor briefly shows the 'thinking' animation but nothing happens.

    • There is no freeze or crash
    • Restart of the application did not fix the issue.
    • File>>Open is the only way I can open files
    • This happens to all files whether created with CC 2019 or earlier versions

    Specs:
    Illustrator CC 2019
    Windows 10

12. Tiny size indicators on high-resolution displays

    I have Windows 10 and a display with a resolution of 2560x1440 and a scaling of 150%. Illustrator displays tiny size indicators. Take a look at the screenshots.

    This is a long-standing problem with the scaling of the Illustrator interface. Please correct it, my eyes hurt.

13. Very long loading splash screen after update 23.0.1

    After newest update 23.01 splash screen freeze on trying to initialise SmartEditUI.aip for few minutes (and crash if I try click on it at this time)

    This only happens at the first time start.

14. v23.0.6 Freezing when opening file

    Frequently Illustrator has been freezing when attempting to open recently created Illustrator files. These files can be created or modified from any recent version of Illustrator (versions for 2018 and 2019), but only seem to freeze when opened with Illustrator v23.0.6. The files seemingly will open just fine on v23.0.4 or below (I did not test every version, but I can verify that v23.0.4 works and checked on 2 versions of v22.xx.xx). The freezing occurs irregardless of the computer's operating system (Windows or Mac). It doesn't freeze on all files—but I don't know what variables are causing it. The files it has been freezing on all have one linked .ai file inside of them, 1–3 fonts, and various symbols stored in the document's Symbols library. Strangely, if you don't quit Illustrator, you can reopen the file just fine after saving, but once you quit Illustrator and try again after a few minutes later the file won't reopen until you use v23.0.4 or below.

    Under Preferences > Guides and Grid I have the Guides as Magenta and Grid as Red... everything is gray... I can't see the selections or any grid lines

16. Scatter brush not able to customise after created

    When I create a scatter brush and then try to customize it after I've drawn a few strokes with it the "OK" just turns blue and nothing happens when I press it. Never happened before today and I'm not doing any weird brush, just a basic leaf-looking brush. Pretty annoying since I gotta either nail it at first or create a new one again. cheers!

17. Copy and paste doesn't always work

    I've been experiencing problems with Illustrator. When I copy an object with the ctrl + c button and try to paste them it randomly doesn't work.

    The problem is that I can't replicate it on command. At first I thought it had something to do with the laptop that I used, but it also happens on a freshly installed desktop.

    My version of Illustrator is 22.0.1

    I also checked the copy paste functions under the edit tab, and when I copied something it didn't show the ability to paste it. It could also only have something to do with copying files.

18. Performance is hindered

    Working on illustrator- have it set for 2 hours working time. At 15 minutes, the computer will log me out and force me to log back in to my illustrator file. I use High Sierra OS, Creative Cloud 2019.

19. Actual Size view menu does not display at actual size...

    The new "Actual Size" feature under the view menu does not zoom to actual size. a 1" square is displayed at around 7/8" instead.

    there are two issues in this post
    1. Users want this feature to work on multiple monitors.
    2. Users want to have a view actual pixels for web drawings.

    for #2: we have an option to disable – You have to go to Preferences > General and uncheck “Display print size at 100% Zoom”.
