Screen glitching when moving cursor
Any idea what's going on here? Whenever I open older files to edit information I'm getting a strange glitching when moving the cursor. It doesn't matter if I switch to Overprint or Preview - the issue immediately comes back. I've also Quit and Restarted and the problem still persists.
Running 28.0 on macOS Ventura 13.6.1
So, so bored of these constant issues when updating your software.

SVG Imports with missing/changing colors
This svg file opens correctly in browsers and even converts correctly in Inkscape, but in Illustrator all the colors change.
I'm using the latest illustrator as of May 2024 on Windows 11.
I tried attaching the SVG file but it gets removed for not being supported, nice...

Corrupted Mac screenshot exports when using Export for Screens
When exporting multiple artboards that feature Mac screenshots via Illustrator > File > Export for Screens, the exported screenshot data looks corrupted / distorted. However, using File > Save for Web (legacy) results in a clear export.

Text change when I copy and paste
When I copy and past text from one project to another, it change the text randomly and I can't change it, I need to rewrite it.

Dimensions new layer Do Not Print
Using the Dimensions tool on a layer designated as Do Not Print creates a new layer title Dimensions.
Example, I do all my dimensions, set the layer to Do Not Print. Later I realize I need to make an additional dimension. If I try to use the Dimension tool on the layer marked Do Not Print, it will create a new layer for new Dimensions.3 votes -
Info Palette incorrect on items using Clipping Mask
Objects with Clipping Masks show original width and height in Info Palette. Ex. a 10x10 square clipped to 2x2 will show as W: 10, H: 10 in Info.
In Properties/Transform the information is correct, i.e. W: 2, H: 2I typically don't like to see the whole Properties Panel nor need the editing abilities of Transform so I have the Info panel open. However, I would assume it would show the selected width and height vs. the clipped item's original size.

Uneven stroke widths using width tool
Using width tool, stroke comes out uneven, even though system claims it is the same on both sides of the path. This only happens on one side of the stroke, not sure if it's at the beginning or end of the stroke. This only happens when width is adjusted at the very end of the stroke; adding a node just before the end of the stroke and adjusting that way functions properly.

Crashes daily, usually over night. Can't keep loaded for more than 24 hours.
Windows 11, 65gb ram, 2tb ssd, desktop. Version of Illustrator is latest, always do updates and owned a subscription for 5-6 years.
Why am I here? I can't figure out this help system, or generally no help at all. I usually never file bug reports because I don't expect any support for my money and have grown desperate with the daily crashes and losing edits.
I am sorry if my description is limited, as the crashes usually occur over night. The computer is never put to sleep and only the screen saver is running. I have no add-ons. My installation…

Application crashes when pressing back arrow when inside symbol
OS: Windows 11 Home
AI Version: 27.8.1Context:
The application crashes when I press the "back arrow" button while editing a symbol. The symbol I tried to edit was one that I had created myself and added to the list of symbols.Steps:
1. Double click on the created symbol in the symbol menu to start editing it.
2. Click the back arrow in the top left, as seen in the picture provided.

Constantly freezes up
Freezes and interface is unusable & menus to be inaccessible. Mac doesn't recognize it as "unresponsive.”

Pasting text from Microsoft Office does not work on Mac but works on PC
This has been an issue for quite a while on many different machines Mac OS version, and Illustrator versions over the years and is consistent. When copying text or vectors containing text like graphs from a Microsoft Office app like Excel, PowerPoint, or Word. Then pasting into Illustrator, the graphics and vectors are correct but the text is illegible in that it is corrupted in some way so it looks like symbols.
I know it works on Windows as this is my usual workaround in the past, but my main machine is a Mac and this is a very annoying…

I can't change stroke colour after I used the shape builder tool
After using the shape building tool to combine shapes together to create a specific shape and change the stroke to a colour with a specific stroke weight then later when I try to change the stroke colour it does nothing, it show up different when it's in isolation mode though. I've tried to add a thicker stroke line and that shows the new colour I've chosen behind the first colour so the shape developed two stroke colours in one and I have no idea how to fix it, even if I copy and paste the shape then try to change…

Group Selection and Selection Tool move individual points and handles
When using the Group selection tool, I highlight an object by clicking it and then try and move it. Rather than moving the object highlighted, the tool selects a single point - grabs it - and I move that single point instead. This often leads to a crash of the application.
18 votesThe solution to this problem is to disable the dedicated 'Show handles when multiple anchors are selected' option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display.
Usually it is off by default and does not interfere.
However, when it’s enabled, Illustrator displays all handles for all selected art when Group Selection tool is used, and it can lead to accidental handle changes when moving the art.
If you have it disabled but still have problems — please comment back.

Converted text won't change color. Eyedropper nor manual change not working (even though "fill" panel picks it up)
I tried resetting everything, and updated Illustrator, which didn't help. Then I installed the new one and told it to remove old versions. So I now have the new illustrator 2024, and eyedropper still doesn't work. Exact same bug between versions of illustrator.
Note, it seems to specifically be happening with text, even after changed to outlines.
I saw a release note that this had been fixed yesterday, but I am having the issue right now, with the brand new install.

Embedding images in SVG is not working
I'm trying to embed some images in my SVG. When I do the process by clicking on the menu option "Embed images", it looks like it's working, but after saving and closing the file, when I reopen it, the image is linked not embedded.
I tried with AI 2021 and 2024, but it also happened with other files.

Reduce History Panel Minimum Width
Please reduce the history panel minimum width.
Currently it's wider than (almost?) all of the history step names.Ideally this panel width could reduce to just show the icons of each history step.
Common actions like Move and Clear would benefit from icons better representing the changes made.
All the different type adjustments would also benefit from displaying their corresponding icons from their respective panels (font size, letter spacing, line height, paragraph alignment etc.)

"Select a File Format to open file"
Multiple Illustrator files with vector polygons and linework from ArcGIS Pro are no longer opening properly and are instead prompting: "Select a File Format to open file" with "Text" or "ArcGIS - Adobe Illustrator" as options. Selecting either option opens an empty, blank file. How can I continue editing the original Illustrator files?

Brush palette inconsistent with Direct Selection Tool
I select a path drawn with the brush tool using Direct Select then click another brush. Sometimes the brush is applied to the path, sometimes it isn't, although the brush is shown to have changed as expected in the brush palette.
If the brush is not applied as described, when I deselect the path and select it again it reverts to showing the original brush.
I'm sure this has happened since the latest update (28.1, 64 bit, Win 10). I work with brush tool a lot and this is introducing a lot of irritation and wasted time to my projects.

Multipage PDF opens with incorrectly scaled links
I open all pages of a booklet PDF booklet (pages of the same size) with a setting "Import PDF pages as links for optimal performance". The opened file seems to look good and all the pages of a booklet display correctly. That's until I save and reopen the file. After reopening, the links become scaled randomly. The same happens after Rearrange All Artboards command. This bug messes up the results of Illustrator imposition extensions too.
The problem appears to be in Illustrator 28. Older version of 27 does not have this bug.
