1. Drop shadow results are unusual when converted to grayscale

   Version: 23.1 and 24.2.3
   phenomenon:
   1. Create an object
   2. use drop shadow from appearance menu
   3. From the Edit menu, select Edit Color and then Convert to Grayscale.

   After conversion, the drawing of the drop shadow is not normal.
   There will be a problem even if you save it as a PDF.

   Version 22.1 does not have this problem.

3. Subsequent document saves

   Whilst working on a document in the latest version of Illustrator, any subsequent saves after the initial first saves is not guaranteed to have saved. Instead I may find a temp file in the folder alongside the original version rather than the fresh updated document. This is the first time in any versions of Illustrator that I have experienced this and am extremely worried as to what other documents have supposedly been updated but haven't really?

   Before you ask, yes, I did refresh my folders and also opened the illustrator file to only find that the changes made have not been implemented. The temp files did however have the changes on them and so after opening the temp files, I cleared the folder and saved a fresh Illustrator file, as per the attached screen capture of my waste bin.

4. illustrator bug erasing files

   I save all files locally. Yesterday i made a 'v2' of a project, saved in the same location as the 'v1', had both opened and worked on the v2, and exported PNGs from it to use in another app (saved frequently between edits). Today I discovered the PNGs and v1 are still in the folder, but not the v2.

   It is not listed in my Mac's 'recent files', it doens not turn up in search, it is not in the cloud storage, i did not use an external, and I also did not accidentally erase the file-go into the trash- and accidentally erased it again for good.

   Is anyone else beginning to experience files just dropping off the face of their computer? This only started for me after the previous Illustrator error of 'an all black screen when having more than one file open' stopped.

5. Magnifying and Hand tool for macOS Catalina 10.15.6 stopped work since upgrading to Illustrator v24.2.3

   Reseting the Preferences does not resolve the issue. Turning off animated zoom does not help either.

6. When closing all tabs (Cmd + Option + W), Illustrator instantly crashes.

   Sometimes I have multiple tabs open, and I want to close all of them at once instead of each individually. Cmd + Option + W is a common Mac shortcut to close all tabs. In previous versions of Illustrator, this worked as expected. As of 24.2.1 on 10.15.6 version of Catalina, it crashes every time.

7. ARTBOARD RESIZE ISSUE

   If you create a new document and make the artboard smaller than the old max of 227" and then try to resize it larger than 227" once it has opened, you cannot. It gives you an error message that says "Artboard cannot be created outside the canvas bounds". You are able to create a file larger than 227" x 227" from the very beginning however.

8. Asset export password bug 24.2.3

   Illustrator info: 24.2.3 (64bit)

   System info:
   Windows 10

   Steps:
   If I export artboards to pdf using the asset export window - each file will be password protected without me specifying it.

   This only happens if the last pdf I saved manualy (using save as) was password protected. Asset export will use the same password that I entered for this file.

   This would be a nice feature if it was an option you could select or de select, but not when it happens without informing me.

   The only workaround I know of, is to save a dummy pdf with the correct settings before using the asset export, needles to say this is a damper on workflow efficency.

   The presets used does not have password protection enabled. I am reasonably sure you can't put passwords in the presets actually. I tried now, and the password protection option was not enabled when I applied the preset.

9. Align/Distribute issue (v.24.2.3)

   Hello,
   I've seen that this is claimed that it is fixed on a previous update, but I have the latest (24..2.3) and still have issues.

   Situation:
   4 text layers in a 2nd level subgroup
   Selection of three out of four layers and the Align/Distribute is working as expected (align to Selection selected)
   Selection of all four layers (or group layer) and the Tool isn't working on 'Align to Selection' basis. It's working correctly as 'Align to Artboard'

   How am I supposed to align all layers in a Group? The only workaround is to align all layers but one and then align the remaining layer alone..

10. Enable Missing Clyph Protection

    ■English
    Normally, if a font is not found, the text background is highlighted.
    Text is not highlighted when I apply appearance.

    setting -> type -> Enable Missing Clyph Protection
    This is enabled.

    ■Japanese

11. Font Preview Size

    In Illustrator 24.2.3,
    We are not able to change the Font Preview Size in the preference Dialogue in/under the Type Tab, and you also do not have the same feature in the Type Menu, which is the right place to set the Font Previews size default,
    we are also not able to see the Font names in the written text as a preview in the Font/Character Menu.

12. Select Same Stroke Weight does not.

    2019 iMac running OS 10.15.4, AI CC 23.1.1

    Shouldn't "Select Same ***" actually select ALL the items identical to the one item selected? I am working on a master file for Nutrition Facts panels, and cannot truly select every rule that is of a particular weight. REALLY Frustrating!

13. Saving documents

    Please restore the save parameters. Or at least give a prompt if the save gets interrupted. My saves keep getting interrupted and I often loose the changes to the original file if I have to save as a different format, like a PDF. It's been very problematic and I have had to reproduce my original files once I lose the changes while trying to save a low-res PDF, for example. Thank you!

14. SVG files doesn't open correctly. - Illustrator

    I have added as attachment the .svg files which aren't opened correctly, it is kinda only showing the filling.

    This problem accures in Illustrator Windows, and iPad OS, didn't tested on mac right now, but i don't have big hope.

    My guts tell me that there is a newer SVG standard, which isn't implemented yet?

15. shift does not create square artboard, but uses previous proportions

    illustrator 2020 - 24.2.3
    mac os catalina 10.15.6

    in the newest version of illustrator, creating a new artboard while pressing shift just creates an artboard at the same dimensions as the previous one, rather than as a square. having to take the extra steps to manually type in exact square dimensions is a real time suck when i have to create many different sizes on one document. there should be a way to get that old setting back!

16. Can't change file type after making a new folder in "Save As"

    Running illustrator 24.2.3 on macOS Catalina 10.15.6.

    Steps:
    Open the "Save As" window
    Create a new folder

    Result:
    Drop down for select file type and the button for "Save as Cloud Document" become unresponsive.

17. SVG Tiny 1.2 :: x/y attributes in svg element

    It looks like Illustrator believes that x/y are valid attributes for the 'svg' element when exporting as Tiny 1.2. Based on reading the spec, I'm not entirely sure this is true.

18. Josef Pro font disappears as you type

    Hello

    I am trying to type the word "Communications" in Adobe Illustrator. If I use any other font, it types fine and looks fine. When I use Josef Pro, the "ti" goes missing and only shows "Coomuncaons". When I change from Josef Pro to any other font, I can see the "TI". I tried this is other applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and this problem does not happen. It's definitely an issue with Illustrator.
    Unfortunately, I cannot use another font because our company logo uses this Josef font.
    Please help.

19. Overprint Preview unbearably slow

    When using overprint preview this app grinds to a halt, it's absolutely awful, please fix / improve

    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)
    3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5

    Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB

    switching between overprint preview brings my Mac to a slow grind
    My expected result... that a professional application is fit for purpose
    My actual result.... a slow and un-usable not fit for purchase application that I have no choice other than to use.!!!

20. Expanded Layers Slows Performance

    Illustrator 24.2.3 (64bit)
    Windows 10 Pro

    What the title says. If I expand my top layer in the layers palette and try to edit the text on an artboard using my keyboard arrow keys to navigate the cursor, the cursor is super laggy.

    If I collapse the top layer and navigate the text inside the boxes, the cursor is much faster.

    Expanded layers seems to take up much more processing power ...to the point I can barely scrub through the text.
