    Creative Cloud

    Illustrator チーム

    【追記 – 2021年8月27日】
    Photoshop 2021 が ver.22.5 にアップデートされ、日本語パス名の文字化け問題が修正されました。
    Illustrator でもクリッピングパスが正しく認識されます。

  2. Clipping mask from a live text is misaligned / resized / distorted

When using a solid swatch filled variable font as a clipping mask (Hepta Slab in the attached example) the clipped paths are misaligned with the font (in display and in selection hovering).

  3. Clipping compound shape doesn't have edges drawn

When a compound shape (not a compound path, but a live result of any Pathfinder operation) is used as a clipping mask, Illustrator does not display edges for the resulting objects.

    1. View > Hide Bounding Box (for clarity, to see the issue better)
    2. Draw anything
    3. Create two intersecting rectangles
    4. Select these two rectangles, hold Alt and click Unite in Pathfinder panel to get a live compound shape
    5. Select both the compound shape and the art below
    6. Object > Clipping Mask > Make

The resulting object has no edges drawn and can’t be seen as selected, until you enable the bounding…

  4. No accessibility keys for Intertwine in menus

On Windows, we can hit Alt and see underscores for each command in every menu.

For some reason the team stopped caring about these for a while, and recent addition are all missing these: Intertwine, Repeat, Collect for Export, Spelling, My Settings (which is a flop and doesn’t really work)...

Some older ones too: Image Trace, Filters, Edit Colors...

We need these for every command.

  6. Using a sublayer as a layer mask is broken

Please open the file attached and watch the video.
Here is what happens, try to replicate it:

    1. The document has a Layer 1 and it has a sublayer — Layer 2, which has one rectangle in it
    2. If you select the Layer 1, the Make/Release Clipping mask button enables — click it
    3. Notice that Ai underlines both Layer 2 AND <Rectangle>, as if they are both are clipping masks
    4. If you click it again, everything is OK. But instead, select the Layer 2 and click the button after
    5. See how Ai still shows Layer 2 underlined (bug #1)
    6. Select a…

  7. Illustrator pulls clippings masks to the top of their clip groups when a document is reopened

    1. Make a simple clipping group
    2. Select clipping path only
    3. Fill it
    4. Send it to back
    5. Save and close the file
    6. Open the file back Illustrator will move the clipping mask back to the top of the group.

    Why this is important?
    1. Because if we release a clipping group that has the filled clipping path below clipped object, it stays below.
    2. Because when we use isolation mode, Illustrator will allow to select children only when the filled clipping mask is below the clipped objects.

Take a look at the GIF attached, that shows three methods possible with colored clippings…

  8. Info Palette incorrect on items using Clipping Mask

Objects with Clipping Masks show original width and height in Info Palette. Ex. a 10x10 square clipped to 2x2 will show as W: 10, H: 10 in Info.
    In Properties/Transform the information is correct, i.e. W: 2, H: 2

I typically don't like to see the whole Properties Panel nor need the editing abilities of Transform so I have the Info panel open. However, I would assume it would show the selected width and height vs. the clipped item's original size.

  9. Hidden clipping mask still contributes to exported image

I had a design with two clippings mask applied to it, for layout and previewing purposes.
When time to export a final image comes, I hide the top-level smaller one, and leave the larger one at the bottom to clip my design.

But when I review the exported image, I realize Illustrator removed the some elements of the design, despite me seeing them on canvas. It took a live brush and deleted some parts of it even!

Take a look at the file attached.
    1. Open it
    2. Study the layer structure, notice a hidden clipping mask. Note the design…

  10. Draw Inside = Appearance BUG

If you have a shape with two fills and you draw inside of said shape, one of the fills will disappear and be invisible. It will still show up in the appearance menu though.

  11. Undo stack becomes desynchronized when making a clipping mask using a group that contains another clipping mask

I often want to clip a group that already contains another clipping mask, and sometimes I accidentally use the wrong top object when making the mask. In this case, Undo does not return the scene to its previous state. Instead, various strange things happen.

    To replicate:
    - Create a group (A) that contains a clipping mask (B) and at least one other object
    - Create an object (C) to be clipped
    - Bring A over top of C, select both and make clipping mask
    - Undo

The scene should return to its original state, but instead the inner mask (B)…

  12. Clipping Mask Shows Some Bugs

    Hi
I’m using Illustrator CC (27.1.1) and macOS Monterey 12.3
When I use a clipping mask, sometimes Illustrator shows hidden parts of images that are inside the clipping mask (that should be hidden). When I scroll through the artboards, bugs change shape. (Generally, images inside the clipping mask are effected by the transparency tool, screen, multiply...)
Looking at the attached files you can see a clipping mask with some shapes inside.

  13. Clipping Mask gets rendered wrong

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
Just recently install the macOS Monterey
Using the newest version of Illustrator 2022

The clipping mask doesn't work after I zoom in or zoom out.
It shows what is inside the clipping mask with different shapes randomly every time just like the images below. I have to move around the image to get the original shape of the clipping mask.

It works quite well in Illustrator 2018 actually.
But the Illustrator 2018 version seems can not be downloaded anymore.

I think people should be allowed to download the older version which they found most…

  14. Image in Clipping mask as well as everything on its layer disappears constantly

Image in Clipping mask as well as everything on its layer disappears constantly. The image isn't displaced but when I double click where it is it shows itself in Isolation mode. Its terribly annoying. It shows as an outline but doesn't show up at all otherwise.

  15. smart guides not working in clipping mask

I have had this problem for probably the last 3 versions or more ... but generally, when I've masked a number of objects inside of a clipping mask, then double-click to edit the contents inside the clipping mask, smart guides no longer function. Or, more correctly, very occasionally they will, but generally not.

I always update to the latest versions of Illustrator. Currently I'm using 25.2.1

  16. Artwork in Clipping mask doesn't resize

Illustrator 2019 on PC Windows 10

When I resize artwork sometimes anything that's inside a clipping mask doesn't resize. The shape I created for the mask resizes, but the artwork 'inside' stays static.

If I undo and retry a few times it will eventually work. I'm using the 'black' arrow to select the object and resize with the handles. I'm not using either of the white arrows. So I don't think it's a selection issue on my end.

  17. Objects in a clipping mask do not respect "Object Selection By Path Only".

    Reproduction steps:

    1. Draw a filled shape.
    2. Use Draw Inside to draw another filled shape inside it.
    3. In the 'Selection And Anchor Display' pane of the prefs, ensure that 'Object Selection By Path Only' is checked.
    4. Click and drag with the Selection or Direct Selection tools in a part of the first object that does not contain the second object. Note that nothing gets selected unless you drag over the first object's path.
    5. Click and drag with one of those tools in a part of the first object that does contain the second object. Do not cross any of the paths…

  18. Rasterization with clipping mask removes half of the stroke

Create a dummy rectangle with a fill and a thick stroke. Select the rectangle. Go to Object/Rasterize. Tick "Create Clipping Mask". Click OK. Notice the outern half of the stroke is gone (clipped away). I would expect unchanged visual appearance....

When I reopen a document with clipping masks the masks are released. It is very frustrating remaking all photos each time I open to make edits.
