1. Illustrator performance, conflict with windows 11 desktop manager process

   I was trying to rotate an image within illustrator and the performance was unusable. Trying to select then rotate was slow and unresponsive. Made no sense as my workstation has plenty of resources. 24core/512GBram/RTX 5000 ada. I did a quick google search and found a redit post suggesting exiting illustrator, find dwm.exe, end the process (explorer crashes then reloads, so does dwm.exe), restart illustrator. After performing these steps, illustrator was working like it should, responsive and useable.

   Should not have to go through this process just to get illustrator to work correctly. Need to investigate with MS what is happening with desktop manager that's causing major performance issues and lag.

5. Unable to catch error that occurs when exporting empty artboard to PSD

   en_US

   When exporting Illustrator artboards to PSD using ExtendScript's exportFile, if the artboard does not contain valid PageItems, an error occurs and two alerts are displayed.

   
   

   The problem is that this error cannot be caught by a try syntax. It will stop the batch process with alerts.

   Also, if app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS is used to prevent the alert, it is not possible to provide detailed information to the script user as to why the artboard was not exported.

   Ideally, the design should be changed so that the error can be caught, or even an empty artboard can be exported.

   Steps to reproduce

   1. open the attached file empty_artboard.ai in Illustrator
   2. execute the script in the Script to execute section or the attached file psd_export.txt (please change the extension to jsx beforehand)

   Expected result

   Errors will be caught and an alert "Caught error" will appear, then safely exit.

   Actual result

   The error penetrates try syntax and the alert is displayed twice. The contents are as follows:
   1. Empty artboard(s) were not exported.
   2. The operation cannot be completed because of an unknown error. [!SEL]

   The error 2 starts to occur in Illustrator 2022 and does not occur in older versions such as Illustrator 2021.

   Workaround

   • Use selectObjectsOnActiveArtboard, etc. to detect empty artboards by myself to avoid the error (to be precise, it is necessary to ignore isolated points and other PageItem that are ignored by the PSD export function by myself).
   • Generate a Rectangle of the same size as the artboard without fill and stroke in advance and export it for avoid the error. An empty image will be successfully exported.

   Environment

   • macOS 12.7.3, 14.3.0(Apple Silicon)
   • Illustrator 2019(23.1.1) to 2024(28.1.0)

   Not sure when this error started, but it reproduces in Illustrator CS6 too.

   空のアートボードをPSDに書き出そうとしたとき起こるエラーをcatchできない

   ExtendScriptのexportFileにてIllustratorのアートボードをPSDに書き出すとき、アートボードに有効なPageItemが含まれていないとエラーが起こり、2つの警告が出ます。

   
   

   問題は、このエラーはtryで囲ってもcatchできないことです。バッチプロセスをアラートで止めてしまいます。

   また、もしapp.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTSでアラートを出ないようにした場合、スクリプトのユーザーになぜアートボードが書き出されなかったか詳しい情報を提供することができません。

   エラーをcatchできるようにするか、空のアートボードでも気にせず書き出すよう変更するのが理想的な設計です。

   再現手順

   1. 添付ファイルempty_artboard.aiをIllustratorで開きます
   2. 実行するスクリプトセクションのスクリプトか、添付ファイルpsd_export.txtを実行します（事前に拡張子はjsxに変えておいてください）

   期待する結果

   エラーはcatchされ「Caught error」とアラートが出たあと安全に終了します。

   実際の結果

   エラーがtry構文を貫通し、アラートが2回表示されます。内容は次の通りです。
   1. Empty artboard(s) were not exported.
   2. The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [!SEL]

   2のエラーはIllustrator 2022から出始めていて、それ以前のIllustrator 2021などでは発生しません。

   回避策

   • selectObjectsOnActiveArtboardなどを使い、空のアートボードを自力で検出してエラーを回避します（正確に言えば、孤立点などPSD書き出し機能に無視されるPageItemを、自力で無視する必要があります）
   • アートボードと同じサイズの塗り・線なしのRectangleを事前に生成して書き出すことで、エラーを出ないようにできます。ただし、何もない画像が書き出しに成功します

   環境

   このエラーがいつからあるのかわかりませんが、Illustrator CS6でも再現します。

8. Outlined text corrupting in "placed" logo files

   AI logos with outlined text are being clipped/thinned/skewed when placed in both Illustrator and InDesign in 2025 apps.

9. There is a problem with zooming the mouse wheel in 29.0

   When zooming with the mouse wheel, the zoom coordinates are severely offset.
   This issue existed in previous versions and was fixed in 28.6, but reappeared in 29.0

11. Automatic and manual saving does not function

    Autosave and manual save does not work for Illustrator.
    I created a file, worked on it, saved intentionally several times, but after a day of work illustrator has not saved anything neither locally nor in the cloud.

    The autosave function is on.

    Does anybody know what could be the issue?

12. Paragraph style with bulletpoints doesn't apply bullets when coming from CC library

    When I make a new paragraph style with bullets or numbering in an Illustrator document, I would like to reuse that. When I copy the style to the CC library, and apply that in a new document: the bulletstyle or numbering is lost.
    Instead when I copy the textbox to the library, and place that in a new document, the paragraph styles behave identical to how they did in the original document.
    I would suggest to make an improvement there, and not break the functionality of the paragraphstyles when used in a proper way through the library.. For me this is a bug.

14. Broken CSS Style Elements in SVG Save and Export

    I have been exploring why our company users are seeing full black artboards or random black fill objects in SVG files produced in the Save As\SVG process, as well as exporting SVG using API developer tools. I know there have already been issues with non-alpha-numeric characters (what I will call “irregular characters”), but the issue we are seeing relates to periods (.) specifically.

    When files are saved/exported using Style Elements to drive the CSS, if those style names contain a period, ie: "BLACK STROKE .25pt", the Save As SVG export process allows the CSS class label to contain a period. Since each new style is identified in the code by a period, this essentially produces two class elements within one label position.

    This can be reproduced by creating an objects using a Graphic Style they have labeled with a period in the name. Then export that files using "Style elements" in the CSS options under "More options". As it seems the default is to use Style elements, this shouldn't be difficult. Here is my example, one in Illustrator 28.1 and one in 28.7:

    In Illustrator 28.1 the SVG save as/export replaces the period in “.25” with “x002E” but in the 28.7 version the period isn’t replaced, the same as with most other irregular characters. The problem is that despite the CSS and the polygon class looking identical, they are not. The polygon is looking for a style with the class label "BLACKSTROKE.25", but as a period (.) identifies a new style label in the CSS, so the CSS list two different styles named "BLACKSTROKE" and "25pt", within one style position.

    This can also be observed by saving the code above as an SVG, view it, then delete the two periods in both instances of “.25pt” and view it again.

16. Printed image dimensions .5" larger than dimensions in Illustrator

    Mac Sonoma
    Illustrator 29.1

    I am printing a mechanical drawing. I have added multiple dimensions. My image is 20/25" x 45 " so I am tiling my printout. No matter which printer I use and which print settings, my printouts are always .5" larger than the dimensions in illustrator. I have tried adding overlaps, printing on borderless paper, removing overlaps, etc. Nothing fixes this problem

19. [Illustrator 2025, 29.0][Win11 Pro 23H2] Polish Characters (Alt GR + A, C, E, O, X) Not Working in the Artboard Name Field

    When I try to type a Polish character in the artboard name field - using Alt GR + A, C, E, O, X - nothing happens. The only one that works is Alt Gr + Z.

    Interestingly, Polish characters work just fine in text boxes and in the layers panel.

20. Move Tool Malfunction

    I can't select the move tool properly-- or any other tool in this case. The main selected tool is stuck in the hand tool. After a while, it switches to the move tool and it gets crazier!!

    Whenever I select a layer or an object, there's a 1-3 second delay. Can this be fixed? My projects are affected. I tried resetting the app already.
