  1. Google Backup and Sync (aka Google Drive) locks Illustrator files and saving fails unless I quit Backup and Sync.

This happens intermittently but frequently. Google support assures me this is not caused by them, though I don't believe it. Still, is there anything that can be done from Adobe's side?

  2. saving as an svg file, the part that should be the path tag is output as an ellipse tag.

    operating system
    MacOS 10.14.6 Mojave

    1. Draw an ellipse.
    2. Duplicate vertically.
    3. “Intersect” in the path finder.
    4. Save as svg file.
    5. When viewed with a web browser, the left and right sides are rounded. It should be sharp. I looked inside the svg file with a text editor, the part that should be the "path" tag is the "ellipse" tag.

Until Illustrator CC 2017, there is no problem because it is output with the "path" tag. Since Illustrator CC 2018 and later, it will be an "ellipse" tag, so the shape will be broken.

  3. Symbol mangling when exporting into svg

I see an incorrect result when exporting into SVG through File -> Export -> Export As... -> save as SVG. I have two gradient filled rectangles presented as symbols (see .ai inside the attached .zip), one is blue gradient and the other is gray gradient. When export into svg, the resulting image shows both rectangles filled with gray gradient (see .svg inside the .zip).

It looks like AI thinks both symbols are visually the same an merges them into a single symbol. If i use solid colors, this doesn't happen.

As for SVG options see 'svg_options.png' inside the .zip.

  4. Save As Crash

Illustrator is crashing constantly when trying to "Save As" after updating to v23.1. Optimizing for slow networks feature is disabled. Crash occurs after choosing the location to save the file. Illustrator hangs for about 2-3 seconds before the crash window pops up. Save as works immediately after launching the program but occurs again later on.

  5. Hyperlink lost if Export to SVG

If I create a shape and attach a hyperlink to it using Attributes, then use File > Export > Export As > SVG, the link no longer exists. If the file is opened using a browser there is no link and the code doesn’t contain the link. If I use File > Save As > SVG the link remains, however, using ‘Export As’ optimizes the SVG for the web, so I should use this option. Why is using ‘Export As’ removing the hyperlink? I have just started using AI - am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?…

  6. Unknown error when re-linking image

When I re-link an image I get a message saying "An unknown error has occurred."
I am adding this to the growing list of problems since upgrading to 2019.

  7. insanely-bloated file size with placed images

Placing a 4.2 mb JPEG in Illustrator document (with little or no text or vector art) results in a file size of over 40 mb. Adobe dismisses this as "expected behavior" and closes the case with no effort to fix an obvious problem.
An Illustrator document with 47 mb of placed JPEGs and nominal text and vector art yields a 513+ mb document! An 18-page (1-side print) PDF produced from this document was 523 mb. WAY too big to send via e-mail or FTP, the client had to come to my office with a thumb drive and download it from…

  8. SVG: RTL text is shifted

We have tried to import correct SVG with RTL text. The SVG looks ok in browsers(Chrome, FireFox). If we just open the SVG file in Adobe Illustrator the RTL text will be shifted to the right. As we see Adobe Illustrator pre-processes SVG but the result looks incorrectly. Are there some specifics of RTL processing that we can take into account? We aspect to see the same SVG rendering as in browsers. (see attached file : as SVG files can not be attached, I've replaced .svg with .txt)

  11. eps import slow (e.g. for eps created in Matlab)

The import of eps-files created in other programs (e.g. Matlab) is slow: opening a file of 10 kb can take 10-30 seconds. Why?

I am using AI CC 22.1.

  12. Can't open .dwg files all of a sudden

Ai CC 2019 - Can no longer open dwg files - the error is "unknown file format" the old work around used to be to save the .dwg & all xref's to a 2010 version and it would open. Super frustrating as this has occurred in the middle of a project. How to get the dwg's compatible again?

  14. Alignment Tool is Off

I'm using the alignment tool to center a logo onto it's artboard. Both the logo and the artboard are 500px by 500px, but when I use the align tool the logo is off by a couple px. It's barely noticeable until I export to png, then I can see that the circle is cut off slightly.

    Any help?

  15. 'could not complete package' message in Illustrator CC 2019

Trying to package an illustrator file is met with 'could not complete package' message. No further explanation is provided. This is an inconsistent error, it seems more common when the file contains .eps links.

  16. Underscores in SVG id attributes won't get their CSS styles applied

When using ids in SVG elements with underscores in them, their styles won't be applied when opened in Illustrator.

Attached is a 281 bytes file showing the problem. Opening it in Illustrator should show the square being red.

    From the XML spec:
Note that COLON, HYPHEN-MINUS, FULL STOP (period), LOW LINE (underscore), and MIDDLE DOT are explicitly permitted.

  19. Template files (.ait) use/show the Adobe Swach Exchange (.ase) icon in Windows Explorer

It's pretty much what the title says, .ait files show up in Explorer with the .ase icon. Everything works as expected though, double clicking it will open a new file in Illustrator, so this is purely a cosmetic issue.

  20. SVG files can not be opened in Adobe CC / Illustrator 22.1.0 (Mac OS, High Sierra)

I have been successfully exported / imported SVG files in the past. Just recently I had to re-install MacOS and Adobe CC suite with Illustrator, Photoshop etc. I just noticed I can not open SVG files in Illustrator anymore. They can be opened in Photoshop but not in Illustrator. If i try to open them in illustrator, I'm seeing prompt where I can choose if I want to import the file in text, PNG (!) or some other formats.
