1. Illustrator shows spinning circle - tried everything

   I can use the mouse, but the cursor has a spinning wheel even outside Illustrator, and the menus don't work. I've been through checklists about install/reinstall, remove user preference folder, in Illustrator as in other products, I've tried moving all the fonts I could from the fonts folder. I've rebooted multiple times. I've tried reinstalling Illustrator. After doing all this, I get error messages such as "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (SExi)", "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (CANT)". I'm currently also using After Effects - I removed the user preferences using the Ctrll - Shift - Alt keys.

2. No DPI resolution in export file when export for screens

   When export I use export for screen, there is no DPI resolution in the exported files.

   Illustrator 21.1.0 - macOS
   1. Create a new document
   2. Create a simple element like a rectangle with 200 x 200 pixel
   3. Set the document size to 200 x 200 pixel
   4. Export it for screens
   5. Generate 3 diffrent files with the scale factor of 29, 58 and 87 pixel
   6. Save / Export the files
   7. Open the file in preview or Photoshop
   8. You can see that the images doesn't contain any DPI information

3. The "HDV 1080" preset needs fixing

   The "HDV 1080" preset resolution is 1920x1080. Small point, but the resolution of HDV is 1440x1080, so the naming of it is kinda wrong. I think in Photoshop, AE & Premiere, it's referred to as the "HDTV 1080" preset, so I think it's probably a mistake/typo by someone at Adobe.

   Also, the preset gives you an extra artboard which is 14400 x 14400 px for some reason (I imagine it's also a bug), so when you try to export your file, it always defaults to exporting this artboard unless you delete it. Again, small thing but clearly a mistake and kinda annoying when you do it several times a day.

4. Link location mistaken for other document's link location

   When opening a specific document, links are found missing.

   When I open the document nevertheless, click on a link and check the location, the path it shows is one that was used in a previously opened, unrelated document.

   When my colleague opens the document on her computer, everything is fine.

5. Illustrator won't open more than one file at a time.

   I have version 21.1.0 (64 bit) running on Windows 10 (more system details in attached png). I am not able to open more than one file at a time. What happens:

   1. I open a file.
   2. I double click to open another AI file (other file opening methods have same results).
   3. Nothing happens. One file remains open. I might see the spinner mouse for a sec but the second file never opens.
   4. If I try to close the first file, leaving Illustrator open, and open a new file, Illustrator becomes unresponsive and I have to close it via the Task Manager.

   -So every time I need to open a new file I have to completely close Illustrator and restart it.

   -My co-worker with the exact same set up has the same issue.

   -We're been experiencing this issue for at least a few months.

   Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

6. Hitting Enter/Return to confirm after modifying values (Stroke, Opacity, Etc) in the Top Toolbar Opens a Move Dialog Box Instead

   When modify values such as opacity in the toolbar, i have always hit enter/return to confirm changes. As of recently however, this now opens a Move dialog box instead of submitting my changes. (See the attached gif for an example)

   If there is something wrong about my workflow please let me know, but I don't currently see any other way of confirming these types of minor edits.

   After several rounds of cancelling the move dialog, the changes will miraculously go through, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why. As you can imagine, this is incredibly frustrating and has slowed my productivity to a crawl.

7. Fonts Slow EVERYTHING Down

   Fonts are the slowest feature in programs from MS Office to Adobe. This problem just caused me to lose work because AI shut down while trying to figure out how to manage a standard font with which I was working. Thanks for nothing AI and your simpleton font generators. You're fired.

8. FILE Corruption - Illustrator will not open AI files. Adobe CC/Windows 10.

   just trying to open AI files to work in ILLUSTRATOR. POS won't open. After reboot, won't open. How was the subscription model supposed to be better?

10. Zoom artefact

    Illustrator 21.1.0

    When I use a very high zoom (25 500 %), paths appear distorded or even disappear.

    It happens when GPU rendering is off as well as when it's on.

11. Undo Button Stops Working

    When using the pen tool, if I move the object or try to undo an incorrect anchor placement I cannot undo what I've done by using keyboard commands or Edit > Undo

12. Viewport doesn’t get adjusted when I start editing text outside of it, like it used to do

    Previously (like is shown in one of 2 GIFs attached, recorded in CS4), when I had my insertion point outside of the currently visible viewport, making any change into a text (or even pressing an arrow key to navigate it) would have the viewport adjusted to have the cursor in it.
    Now it just won’t happen.
    When we aren’t careful with noticing the current mod (text editing VS normal one) can hit hotkeys, hoping to switch the tool, and actually type some garbage (like it’s shown in the second GIF).

    Make it pan to the cursor, like it used to be!

13. Can’t access tools using Essential Classic workspace

    My Essential Classic tools do not come up and it doesn't let me reset them either, so I can’t use Illustrator at all. I tried to uninstall and reinstall —didn't work either

14. Multipoint Gradients Uneditable

    Randomly all gradients in Illustrator with become uneditable, I cannot click on "edit gradient" and if I manage to it does nothing. Point on gradient temporarily come up when in gradient panel, but disappear when I click off. I have reset the application numerous times.

15. Bug de l'outil "Cote"

    Bonjour, j'aimerais vous soumettre un bug que je rencontre depuis quelque temps. Quand j'ouvre les "options de l'outil cote" et que je veux changer des parametres ( le plus souvent, cela se produit quand je veux changer la mise à l'échelle ), cela fait crashé illustrator, 9 fois sur 10, obligé de redemarrer illustrator, (de temps en temps, cela se debloque au bout de 10min).

16. Export von Element als .ai

    Wenn ich .ai als Format im Bedientfeld Export von Element auswähle, wird eine Datei ohne PDF-Kompatibilität erzeugt. Diese lässt sich in InDesign nicht darstellen. Man sieht nur einen Fehlertext. Wenn man die Datei öffnet und unter neuem Namen speichert, sieht man, dass "PDF-kompatible Datei erstellen" nicht angekreuzt ist. Dieses Problem tritt nur bei ai auf, egal welche Zeichnung ich auswähle. Andere Formate wie svg, pdf oder eps werden problemlos exportiert. Der Fehler tritt sowohl in der Windows als auch in der MacOS-Version auf. (deutsch, v 30.3 trat aber schon bei früheren Version auf)

17. Illustrator asked for my location... not sure this is a bug but it's concerning

    It's bad enough that Adobe has moved to a subscription model and is putting AI in everything, but now Illustrator just asked for my location. I'm trying to maximize my PC's performance by turning off all the extra bloat. Does Illustrator really need to know my location?

18. Overlapping linearly opposing gradients (solid-to-transparent, of the same color) doesn’t produce a solid color

    One oddity, which happens both in RGB and CMYK is that there is always some visibility of the background with two overlapping, linearly opposing gradients (black to white and white to black).
    RGB attached for simplicity.
    They should actually appear as uniform. Also the color at the 50% distance is not even a tint.

19. Points move just slightly when segment is modified / reshaped using Anchor Point Tool

    This is a TINY problem, but as all the problem with precision, these do accumulate, leading to other problems — especially when exported into other more precise appications.

    To even see this within Ai a plugin is used, PathScribe by Astute Graphics, that allows to display distances between selected points, when 'Show Anchor Point Coordinate Ranges' option is enabled.

    Here, in a Print-based document (doesn’t matter really) I set up two perfect squares with integer sizes, placed on a grid perfectly. When I select two point occupying the same position, the plugin panel tells me these are coincident.

    Now I pick Ahcnor Point Tool and reshape the segment that uses one of these points to become a curve.
    Ideally, the positions of the points affected should not change —only handles should be added...
    ...yet Illustrator MOVES the points slightly.
    So now, if I select both points that should be coincident, the panel would tell me there’s now a small distance between them— just about 0.00005 mm... not enough to be noticed by Ai’s own functions, well within the tolerance of Pathfinder (0.028 pt, about 0.01 mm) and even more greedy Shape Builder (which got his own bug report about it: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50269572)

    I see no reason to change the positions.
    If I use the plugin’s own PathScribe tool that does the same thing (and was able to do this LONG before Adobe finally decided to add this function to Anchor Point Tool!) — there is NO change. Points don’t move, only handles update.

    Ai is so sloppy... I remember creating floor plans in Ai in 1:1000 scale (because the canvas is super tiny, even with 'Large Canvas (riddled with bugs too)), exporting it to CAD and having gaps — half a centimeter! Sure, Ai updated and doubled the precision since then, but I’m still traumatized. I deal with coordinates every day, designing both large and tiny things, and every decimal tail where I don’t expect it is frustrating. Sure, floating points, math... but just don’t change set values when it’s possible to NOT to.

20. Illustrator not letting me save my files or very slow

    Illustrator keeps lagging on saving sometimes not responsive and not letting me quit illustrator.
    Did not use to happen about a month ago.

    Illustrator 30.3
    Macbook Pro M1 Max
    Sonoma 14.8.5 (23J423)

    Admittedly we run our server on Dropbox, but even still it was not a problem about 1 month ago.

    Please don’t ask me to to save files locally as that is not a viable solution.

    Saving on dropbox was working fine without issue a few months ago, now all of sudden it is lagging for 10 mins a file that used to take 1min to save sometimes not even saving at all just stuck on save without being able to close illustrator.

    We have 100’s of files on dropbox and need to share files between team members so not viable to save locally.

    Illustrator keeps lagging on saving sometimes not responsive and not letting me quit illustrator.
    Did not use to happen about a month ago.
