Cannot see gradient annotator when several objects are selected
Hi, in the latest version of Illustrator (2020), I can't see the gradient annotator when I select several objects at the same time. With a single object selected the annotator looks correctly, but when selecting two or more objects it is no longer displayed.
In previous versions, the gradient annotator is shown when selecting several objects, which I find very useful for copying the properties of the gradient from one object to another.10 votesI am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

New Update's shape tool take up an extraordinary amount of power.
The shape builder tool takes 4 minutes to finish deleting shapes (when hit alt to get the minus sign and subtract shapes from a selection). It takes up so much power from my CPU that my task manager says illustrator is taking up 100%. Deleting the inner parts of a font (D, R, P) took 2 hours last night when making a logo. I restarted my computer 8 times, started a new illustrator file 4 times (thinking it was a corrupt file) and eventually just waited out the extrodinary processing times to get my project done. It's really ridiculous.

V24.2.3 Artboard Lockup
When using the artboard selection tool, selecting multiple items may trigger Illustrator to lock up and become unresponsive. The application doesn't report as non-responsive but the UI becomes unclickable.

Creates "ai2483293123FileName.ai" files
I'm using 24.1.3 of Illustrator and I have come across these files popping up on my network drive. Are these now the "temp" files? Once these files are created, I can not delete them because Finder tells me it is currently being in use.

Point Transformation after Undo
In Illustrator version 2.1 (macOS Catalina 10.15.3) as well as whatever the most previous version of Illustrator was I have been experience an issue where after undoing a point movement of a shape with the direct selection point, further transformations to the point can nor be made. If I attempt to move the point (or any points on the shape in question) they snap back to their previous positions. The only solution I have found is to cut the object and baste it again, where after further point transformations will work. This is a tedious work around in work with…

Excluding fill and stroke settings when applying a graphic style
Intention: I want to have a graphic style for applying shadows (using the material UI shadow requirements)
Because it does not seem to be possible to just copy and paste and existing effect of an element (like a drop shadow on a square element) I am using a workaround.
I created a graphic style with my desired shadow. I noticed that when applying the graphic style to element, it overwrites its color and stroke values.
I thought the setting "override character color" would prevent that from happening, but it doesn't. Every time I'm applying a graphic style it replaces the…

Transparency
When I select a line of type with the Type Tool it shows as 100% Normal Transparency, however if I select that same line of type with the Selection Tool it displays as Normal 100%. How is this possible?

Leaders in Tab
I was using leader with tabs to draw lines. They do not flush evenly to the right in Illustrator 2020 (24.2.3). This feature works in Illustrator 2019 (23.1.1). On a Mac (10.14.6)

Hanging on "Unembed"
When trying to "unembed" an image in an AI file, it is very common for the software to completely stall when attempting to navigate to a save location. I have already run this problem through Apple (re:finder) and they claim that it is not a finder issue, but based in the selected software. Upon force quit and relaunch, the process will succeed. As a graphics professional, I have used this command many times daily, for 20 years, and have never experienced an issue until now. Honestly, I have no idea and cannot find any resources to reference.

Anchor Points Automatically Go Back When Moved
If I create a shape such as using the Rectangle tool then I click on a single anchor point and move it with the Direct selection tool, it goes automatically back to the position that it was at instead of where I moved it. However, if I move the shape then select the single anchor point and move it then it will go to the position to where I moved it.
Here's the kicker. This happens some of the time and not all of the time so there is no consistancy to it. I mean I can completely bypass this…

The bounding box for lines and narrow objects doesn’t have center handles
Missing the center handles for all lines, unable to extend lines properly (without scaling them) unless I switch to direct selection tool, which is a pain.
89 votesSo it’s obviously not fixed, and we all know it.
While the cursor gets changes into the horizontal/vertical two-headed arrow, the center handles for the bounding box indeed don’t appear, if the width/height of the art (here just an orthogonal line) is small enough.
Please continue to share you thought, screenshots, GIFs. It’s time to re-review this again.

Variable Data - ignoring a blank cell in the data library
Variable printing – an amazing utility within Illustrator which is probably often underutilized!
Unfortunately, if the .csv file containing your data contains a blank cell you'll run into issues. Fixing this or creating a workaround so that we can import those blank cells as just a space would be HUGE!
Printing mailing labels and being able to ignore a second line for an address would no longer be out of the realm of possibilities! And that's just the tip of the iceberg!
Let's get behind this – Help me vote this to the top!

'Fit to Artwork Bounds' doesn't work in action command
Illustrator 2020 won't crop the artboard to the illustration limit with an action.
I need to make an action which:
- Selects all
- Object > Artboards > Fit to Artwork Bounds
Not implemented.8 votesBoth 'Fit to Artwork Bounds' and 'Fit to Selected Art' commands can be inserted in an action using the 'Insert menu item...' command from the Actions panel’s flyout menu.
This approach can be used to insert other commands which Illustrator skips while recording. You can read more about it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/automation-actions.html

spot color limit
Please stop the limiting of the spot colors. I use multiple spot colors when making color swatches for profiling some of our machines. I do not always want to convert everything into CMYK in Illustrator.
I am not sure why this was changed because I can not understand what value limiting the colors adds?

Blank pop-up window appears after opening an .ai file
Currently running:
macOS Catalina v. 10.15.6
iMac 27"
3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory
NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1GB Graphics cardEverytime I open an .ai file a blank dialog box appears with nothing on it except for the close/minimize buttons on the top left. I'm able to close the box out and view my work but this happens every time I open a file. Also attached a screen shot as well as spindump of Adobe Illustrator.
