1. Can't Switch Between Documents / Windows

   Having multiple documents open - sometimes I can switch between them with a quick Alt-Tab, but mostly I get the error sound (Windows).

   Using Alt-Tab or using the mouse has the same results.

   On occasion I can switch documents, but that's usually one out of ten attempts.

   This only happens with Illustrator documents/windows - so if I tab over to another program there isn't an issue.

2. Bad rendering of glow effect

   OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 10.0.19045 Build 19045
   Adobe Illustrator: 28.1 (64-bit)

   Steps to reproduce the bug:
   - Create a blank Illustrator document.
   - Create a new shape, such as a white circle with no stroke. The white circle on the white background is invisible.
   - Add an outer glow effect to the circle, e.g.: Color: black (#000000), Normal mode, 20% Opacity, 3px Blur.
   => The white circle on white background will be almost invisible, despite the black glow, which is very, very faint.

   • Export the artwork to PDF.
   • Open the PDF file in Acrobat : the white circle is perfectly visible, the black glow can be clearly seen.

   Expected result:
   The glow should look the same in Illustrator and Acrobat.

   Actual result:
   The glow looks too light in Illustrator, and is rendered properly in Acrobat.

   If you set the glow's opacity to ~50% in AI, you will get in Illustrator the same rendering as 20% in Acrobat (but then of course, if you export the AI file to PDF, the 50% setting will appear much darker in Acrobat).

   This bug is obviously linked to a recent AI update. The rendering used to be consistent between AI & Acrobat.

3. Toggling Layer Visibility now Lags Greatly with each New Layer Added after introduction of Search to Layers

   In May 2022 (before Search Layers was added for example) you could have a file with 2600 layers and toggle the visibility on and off in less than a second. Now in June 2023 the same type of file takes 30 seconds to toggle the visibility of a single layer.

   Here's how to reproduce the BUG that has been introduced into ILLUSTRATOR now:

   I'm using a - Windows 10 Desktop
   Illustrator v 27.6.1
   ASUS Laptop with 40 GB of RAM
   1TB SSD drives and plenty of scratch disk and page file space.

   Reproduction Steps:

   1. create a new Illustrator document 1920x1080
   2. create 100 new blank layers
   3. on layer 100 just create a very simple shape like a rectangle
   4. copy all 100 layers (so now there are 200 layers)
   5. drag the new rectangle (on layer 200) over and give it a different color
   6. now copy all 200 layers (so now there are 400 layers)
   7. drag the two new rectangles (on layer 300 and layer 400) over and give them a different color
   8. now copy all 400 layers (so now there are 800 layers)
   9. drag the 4 new rectangles (on layers 500, 600, 700 and 800) over and give them a different color
   10. now copy all 800 layers (so now there are 1600 layers)
   11. drag the 8 new rectangles (on layers 900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600) over and give them a different color
   12. at this point you only have 16 shapes (rectangles) each with a different color, but there should be 1600 unique layers in the document (the other layers are just empty and blank for simplicity of this example to to show that it is not the complexity of the art causing the issue)
   13. select one of the layers with the visible rectangle in it and toggle the visibility of that simple shape and note how it take many seconds for the visibility of that simple layer to change
   14. in MAY 2022 Illustrator build a document far more complex than this simple example had no problem toggling a layer like this in less than a second with over 2600 layers, but now in JUNE 2023 there is a noticeable LAG that starts happening to toggling layer visibility as early as only 400 layers in an Illustrator file

   I've attached an example file below so you can see how the final test file should look like in case of issues following the above instructions in order to see and test the bug introduced in the newer version of Illustrator.

   Fixed in Beta 27.9 5. Please check if it works for you.

   At the test setup it now takes roughly 1 second to hide and show layers.

4. Can not "Save As" in Adobe Illustrator

   I'm using macOS Sonoma 14.1 on a iMac 27-inch monitor.
   After I upgraded to Sonoma I can not "Save As" any illustrator files in Illustrator 2023 or 2024. I can only save as if I open a previous file that I have saved on my hard drive before upgrading. I have made sure that I have "read/write" privileges but still no luck on saving new file unless I save it to iCloud. Has anyone had the same problem. I have researched on the web and have seen that this problem has been discussed for many years but this is the first time I have experienced this. I can not figure out if this is a app problem or a system problem because this problem never happened until I upgraded to Sonoma. Any advise is welcomed.

5. Registration point and boundaries of a certain symbol jump when a document is opened

   1. Open the attached document (and review the steps from the GIF)
   2. Notice the second symbol's boundaries are giant (although the registration point is displayed within the artboard), and the Symbols panel seemingly shows nothing in its thumb
   3. Double click the second symbol to edit it
   4. The symbol opens and jumps into the middle of its giant boundaries, and the registration point moves as well
   5. Exit the mode
   6. The symbol is now displayed in its intended place, has normal boundaries, has the registration point in the same place, has a normal thumb...
   7. ...but if you make other changes in a doc, save and reopen it — you’d get the the same exact problem as before.

   The appearance of the document is broken, and exporting it give wrong results. This is a very dangerous problem and leads to errors and money loss.

7. Tool window won't update content when clicking on a different tab

   This bugs seems to come on after a while of everything working normally.

   I have multiple windows (e.g. 3 - Character/Paragraph/Open type) grouped together on one panel. When I click on an unfocussed tab to bring that to the front, nothing changes. The content below remains the same.

   For example if 'Character' was in focus, and I wanted to access 'Paragraph' options. If I click on the 'Paragraph' tab, I still see the 'Character' options.

   This is also happening with the document tabs too. I click between my open documents and nothing changes on the artboard below.

   I am currently using Illustrator 2024 version 28.0 on a 2023 Macbook Pro 14" running OS Sonoma 14.0.

   Quitting and relaunching Illustrator seems to fix it.

8. Freezing when copying object

   Whenever I copy or cut an object (shapes, mostly) Illustrator freezes. Sometimes for 30+ seconds.

   Windows 10. 32GB memory. It only started doing this a few months back, and it's getting worse.

9. Illustrator (still) cannot read TIF files.

   When can we remedy this? I cannot open or place a TIF file in Illustrator 27.6.1. The error message is the file is an unknown format and can't be opened.

   There are reports on this page still open from 2021. When will this be fixed?

   I have several TIFs from a museum to lay out for printing and I'm having to individually bring them all in to photoshop and export them as a different format.

10. Arrow keys just stop working in Illustrator 2023 Mac

    Since the last update to 27.7 on my Mac (Monterey 12.6.7), the arrow keys just stop working, andI have to quit and relaunch Illustrator to get them to work again.

12. Enter key does not commit a change in a panel / dialog / field

    Transparency panel in Appearance window does not react on Enter in Illustrator 27.0

    After the latest update, this bug is spotted. In Appearance window -> Opacity panel (either stroke or fill) -> enter desired opacity -> hit Enter/CR -> no reaction (expected: apply value and close the Opacity panel). The TAB button however still works (the value applies). Other panels work as they should and react Enter correctly.

    OS: Mac OS 13.

16. Crash after moving complex artwork outside the artboard

    I'm testing the new release (27.2 on MacOS) before the whole company can safely move to the new environment. I basically can crash the whole software in a few seconds. What I need to do is:

    1) I need to open a big file - I've used files 23.5 MB, 43MB, 64.7 MB, 15.1MB (the files have been created in previous versions of Illustrator ).

    2) Turn on wire view in Illustrator (command + Y)

    3) select with lasso all points that are on the artboard

    4) switch to select tool (V)

    5) Start to move objects outside of the artboard. Within 1 to 10 moves Illustrator crashes.

    I'm going to test the same files on PC with Windows on both Illustrator 27.2 and 25 and I will share my observations with you

    PS I'm not using a Wacom tablet, I'm not using any tablet

17. Bug with the ' touch on AZERTY keyboard on AI 2024

    Hi ! I recently came upon a but while typing text with a French AZERTY keyboard. Indeed touching the ' (apostrophe) symbol instead writes a < or > when entered. I thought at first it was a font problem, but after trying a few different ones wondered if if wasn't a keyboard language problem, but then i tried on AI 2023 and had no problem typing my text correctly.

    プロパティパネル等のテキストボックスに入力の際、テキストがボックス内に収まらず数値を確認しずらい。環境設定でUIスケールを小さくすると表示はましになるが、一部がテキストボックスのエッジにかかってしまう。UIスケールを大きくするとベースラインが大きくシフトし上部が３割程度隠れてしまう。

    再現手順
    1.ドキュメントを開く
    2.プロパティパネルを開き、ドキュメント上のオブジェクトを選択する。
    3.パネル内のテキストボックスの数値の上部または下部が切れて表示される。

    期待する結果
    各テキストボックス内の数値が切れずに表示される。

    現状
    テキストボックス内の数値が切れて表示される。

    これは、以前からの不具合でUIの設計が元々欧文フォントで行われ、ローカライズの際に日本語フォントに置き換えた際に日本語フォントに最適化されない事が原因ではないかと考えます。以下のコミュニティーページに参考になる情報があります。

    Lorsque je tape le prompt "Logo noir et blanc boucherie-charcuterie" ou "Logo noir et blanc boucherie". Il me refuse l'action sous pretexte que j'enfreins les consignes ???
