  1. Raster images should always honor the layer order and transparency values when scaling/moving/rotating

When moving/rotating/scaling Raster images should always honor the layer order and transparency values.

With "show images in outline mode" selected, I often drop in low res raster images on the bottom layer and outline them with the pen tool in higher level layers.. problem is the way illustrator handles raster images. If i draw a line on top of a raster image, then attempt to scale that raster image, my line is temporarily hidden while scaling, moving or rotating the raster image, making it nearly impossible to re-align my raster image to match newly drawn vector lines. Also, raster images…

  3. Cannot update links from links panel

Cannot update links by clicking "update" icon in links panel or by going to panel menu > Update Links. They do nothing. I have to wait until AI shows the "Some links need updating..." alert and then confirm to update or I have to close/open the file.

What the heck happened in the latest update(s)? Feels like all of the panels are super busted.

  4. The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. CANT

Since the last update.. Every time I try to trace & make something. I get this error message "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. CANT" then the placed image I tried to trace disappears and only an empty selection box remains. If i do "undo" the image will return. How come I cannot trace anymore? What can I do to fix it?

  5. Link option in inactive in the Place dialog, even after a name is pasted from clipboard

I am working on a huge document with hundreds of linked images. All files are now changed due to company policy. So I need to relink a bunch of files. This is not possible automatically so I believed I found a solution. But the shortcut was devastating. If i choose say 10 links which have the same name, lets call them Image1 but now the name should be Image01. Same image is in other words used in several places in same file. I marked the links and chose Relink. So far so good.
    I choose the new name Image01.ai and…

  6. Transparent PNG linked into AI drawing

I've exported transparent PNG's from Photoshop, and I'm trying to work on an Illustrator drawing with them, so I can eventually put them into my InDesign doc. So, I link in a PNG to Illustrator and it decides to read it as though it has a white background. So, naturally, I don't realize this because I'm working on a white artboard until I get into InDesign and the art is blocking the master, leaving me to go back into all my illustrator files to replace a linked file with embedded artwork. What's the point of linking a file if it…

  7. Image moves after embedding

Embed image moves the image. See video.......again..

Effects (mirror horizontally and vertically) had been applied to 3 of the instances.

    Win10, v22.1, 4k high DPI scaling 200%.

This is apparently the only way to work with a singe path with more instances. Drop it in the cc library and re-place it again. That alone is just sad. Ever seen how SketchUp works? Please let me know if there is a normal way of doing this.

Another hour wasted. How can anybody possibly work with this buggy pile of ****.

  8. .psd clipping path makes imported image scale incorrect

Create a file in Photoshop at 300dpi with a clipping path, import the file into Illustrator CC and place it. Make a note of the scale it imports at then import that same file without a clipping path and you'll get a different scale.

It seems Illustrator is treating the clipping file the same as an embedded file and using 72dpi as it's default resolution.

Why a clipping path should do this to a file is very strange.

  11. Pasted/Embedded Images are disappearing

    1. 22.0.1 on MacOS 10.13.3
    2. Illustrator closes either through my action or an unexpected crash
    3. I expect all of the embedded files I've been working with to display on the canvas
    4. A handful of the images will appear, but almost everything that has been linked (then embedded) or pasted into the file only appears as an empty bounding box. The images will only reappear if I use the link panel to hunt for each file and place it again. 40 minutes into this, I don't even know if I'll be able to fix all of the images that I pasted into…

  12. Image resolution wrong when rotated

When you place an image into a document the resolution is shown correctly, but if you rotate it, Illustrator continue to consider original pixel width and height as if image was not rotated.
    Example:
    - Import new 800x400px @72dpi image.
    - Illustrator shows correctly 72ppi.
    - Rotate it 90°.
    - Illustrator now shows 144x36ppi, as if image size was 800w x 400h but it was stretched to 400w x 800h (so 800/400 = 2x -> 144 and 400/800 = 0.5x -> 36).

  14. .TIF are distorted when placed and rotated in AI

There is a bug in Illustrator 22.0.1 that distorts placed .tif files that are rotated. It is not just a display issue, but actually distorts the placed .tif image when I export my art to all file types. Attached is a before and after screen shot of what I am experiencing, using a bitmap .tif as a texture placed over my vector art. The two .tif files are the same, one just rotated 90°.
