   1. Summary When an object filled with a Freeform Gradient is duplicated with Object ▸ Transform ▸ Move (Copy) / Step and Repeat without first applying Object ▸ Expand Appearance, the resulting PDF contains one independent Type 4 shading stream per copy, and Illustrator re-derives each copy's mesh differently:

   The triangle tessellation is recomputed per copy (vertex count changes: 2481 → 2463).
   The /Decode array is expanded far beyond the object's /BBox, by an amount that is a linear function of the imposition offset — i.e. the X quantization domain is polluted by the Y-direction layout coordinate.
   This affects both the visible shading layer (DeviceCMYK) and the soft-mask shading layer (DeviceGray, inside the /SMask``/G form).
   Because PDF Reference 1.7 §4.6 states that a shading's interior colors are produced by interpolation bounded only by the smoothness tolerance, and explicitly warns that "Linear interpolation… may have observably different results when applied in a DeviceCMYK color space", each RIP interpolates a different mesh with a different quantization grid. The result: the same artwork at the same relative position renders to different ink totals on different copies, and the magnitude/direction of the deviation varies by RIP.

   Applying Expand Appearance before duplicating eliminates the problem completely — all 8 shading streams become byte-identical. This confirms the defect is in the non-expanded Freeform Gradient export path.

   Expected behavior: duplicated Freeform Gradient objects that are geometrically identical should produce identical shading data (or at minimum identical tessellation and identical /Decode domains), so that every RIP renders all copies the same way.

   Actual behavior: each copy gets its own divergent mesh and quantization domain.

   1. Steps to reproduce Create a CMYK document. Draw a rectangle (test object: 520.24 × 265.12 pt). Fill it with a Freeform Gradient (Gradient tool ▸ Freeform Gradient ▸ Points), using several CMYK color stops. Do not apply Object ▸ Expand Appearance. Select the object, use Object ▸ Transform ▸ Move…, tick Copy, and use Step and Repeat (Ctrl+D) to produce 8 copies arranged 2 columns × 4 rows on one artboard (column step 546.00 pt, row step 269.29 pt). File ▸ Save As ▸ Adobe PDF (also reproduces with PDF/X-4 preset). Inspect the resulting shading objects. Expected: 8 copies → identical mesh topology, identical vertex colors, identical /Decode domain width. Actual: 8 copies → 8 distinct shading streams, 2 distinct vertex counts, 8 distinct /Decode domains.

2. "Save each artboard to a separate file" creates AI files with hidden layers and missing linked files

   Adobe Illustrator 2026
   30.6.0 (Windows 11)

   I discovered an issue when saving an Illustrator document with multiple artboards as separate AI files.

   1. Create an Illustrator document with multiple artboards.
   2. Place artwork on each artboard, including linked images/files.
   3. Go to File > Save As.
   4. Choose Adobe Illustrator (.ai).
   5. Enable "Save each artboard to a separate file".
   6. Save the files.

   Expected result:
   Each generated AI file should contain all artwork from the corresponding artboard, with all layers remaining visible and all linked files preserved.

   Actual result:
   When opening the generated AI files in Illustrator, the files initially appear to be empty.

   After investigating, I found that:

   • The artwork is actually present, but the layer visibility (eye icon) is automatically turned off in the generated AI files.
   • Once the layer visibility is enabled manually, the artwork becomes visible again.
   • Linked files (placed images/artwork) are not included in the generated AI files, even though they are present in the original document.
   • When opening the generated AI files in Adobe Acrobat, the complete artwork is visible, including the linked content shown in the PDF preview. This indicates that the PDF compatibility data is present, but Illustrator does not correctly reconstruct the editable document.

   Additional information

   • The original Illustrator document opens and behaves normally.
   • The issue only occurs when using File → Save As → Save each artboard to a separate file.
   • The behavior is reproducible with my documents.

   This appears to be a bug in Illustrator where the "Save each artboard to a separate file" function incorrectly changes layer visibility and does not correctly preserve linked content in the editable AI data, while the embedded PDF preview remains intact.

   I would appreciate it if Adobe could investigate this issue, as it makes the "Save each artboard to a separate file" feature unreliable for production workflows.

3. ファイル名変更後も旧ファイル名がドキュメントタイトルに残り、書き出しファイルに継承される不具合

   Illustratorにおいて、ファイル名の変更に対してメタ情報の「ドキュメントタイトル」が適切に更新されず、古いファイル名が残ってしまう現象を確認しました。
   また、この書類が書き出した画像ファイルの情報にもそのまま継承されることを確認しています。

   以下に具体的な操作手順と、それぞれのファイル名やドキュメントタイトルの状態を示します。

   ■１　新規ファイル作成
   プロファイルから「A4テンプレ1」を選び、名前（ファイル名）を「書類A」に変更して開く
   ファイル → ファイル情報　からメタ情報「ドキュメントタイトル」を確認する
   結果：　現ファイル名の「書類A」と同じではなく、変更前のファイル名「A4テンプレ1」となっていました。

   ■２　そのままJPEG書き出し
   ファイル → 書き出し → 書き出し形式　でJPEG画像を書き出す
   結果：　ファイル名は「書類A」なのに、ドキュメントタイトルは前ファイル名と同じ「A4テンプレ1」でした。

   ■３　新規ファイル「書類A」を保存
   まだ保存されていなかったこのAiファイルを ファイル → 保存：　書類A.ai
   結果：　メタ情報「ドキュメントタイトル」は、ファイル名と同じ「書類A」に変更されました。

   ■４　再びJPEG書き出し
   書類A.ai　から、ファイル → 書き出し → 書き出し形式　でJPEG画像を書き出す
   結果：　メタ情報「ドキュメントタイトル」は、ファイル名と同じ「書類A」でした。

   ■５　書類Aを「別名保存」し、書類Bを作成
   書類A.ai　から、ファイル → 別名保存で　書類B.ai　を作成
   結果：　メタ情報「ドキュメントタイトル」は、ファイル名と同じ「書類B」に変更されました。
   また、書き出されたJPEG画像は、ファイル名・ドキュメントタイトルどちらも「書類B」でした。

   ■６　書類BをOS上で名称変更
   書類B.ai　のファイル名を、OS上で　書類C.ai　と書き換える
   結果：　ファイル名は「書類C」なのに、ドキュメントタイトルは前ファイルと同じ「書類B」のままでした。
   また、書き出されたJPEG画像も、ファイル名が「書類C.jpg」なのに、ドキュメントタイトルは「書類B」のままでした。

   この現象は、ユーザーにとって明らかな不具合だと思います。
   具体的には■２や■６の挙動が問題で、Aiファイルの名称とドキュメントタイトルが一致せず、書き出された画像に想定外の情報が残ってしまうことは、ファイル名とメタデータの整合性が失われますし、トラブルの原因ともなるため、単なる仕様と見過ごすことはできません。
   また、そもそも多くのIllustratorユーザーがこの挙動に気付かず、不適切なタイトルを刻んだ画像ファイルを生み出していると思われます。
   なぜなら、この「ドキュメントタイトル」という情報は、Macの標準的なFinder機能「情報を見る」を使っても表示されない項目だからです。
   しかもこの情報はWindowsではたやすく表示されるため、自らMacで意図せず埋め込んだ画像の不適切な情報が、納品先のWindowsで視認されている可能性があるのです。

   ※Windowsでの「ドキュメントタイトル」確認方法
   ファイルを選んで「プロパティ」から「詳細」タブを開くと、「タイトル」を確認することができます。
   また環境によっては、ファイルアイコンの上に矢印を置くだけで表れるファイル情報の中に、ドキュメントタイトルの情報が表示されます。

   具体的なリスク例（画像参照）：

   ●ファイル名「ダメ課長のダメな案.ai」をOS上で「上司Ｂ案.ai」に書き換えてJPEG画像を書き出し
   　　　↓
   　ドキュメントタイトルが「ダメ課長のダメな案」のまま表示され、トラブルとなる。

   ●ファイル名「2026年8月.ai」をOS上で「2024年12月.ai」に書き換えてJPEG画像を書き出し
   　　　↓
   　ドキュメントタイトルが「2026年8月」のまま表示され、混乱を招く。

   なお、この不具合は、書き出したファイルの種類で結果が異なります。

   TIFF：　JPGと同じ不具合が生じます。いずれもメタ情報の有無は選べず、必ず埋め込まれます。
   PSD：　 Photoshopから「ファイル情報」を確認
   　→「書類C.psd」のドキュメントタイトルは「書類B」のままでした。
   PDF：　 Acrobatから「プロパティ」を確認
   　→「書類C.pdf」のドキュメントタイトルは「書類C」に揃えられていました。
   　　　（ただし保存の条件で変わると思われます）
   PNG・WEBP：　そもそも「ドキュメントタイトル」が保存されません。
   他は未検証です。
   なお、メタ情報「ドキュメントタイトル」が保存されるファイルでは、撮影日時、プログラム名（Illustratorバージョン）も保存されていました。

   過去の類似する記事では、書き出し後の対処について書かれていても根本的な解決には至らず数年経過しており、また前述の通りMacユーザーにとっては大変見えづらいトラブルであることから、早々の解消が望まれる深刻なバグとして改めてここに報告いたしました。

   こちらの作業環境：
   Windows11（25H2）／Illustrator 28.7.10

4. Ai comes with scale error/warning too early

   When trying to scale down a big group of paths, by double clicking the scale tool to enter a numerical value, Ai starts to complain - it seems to assume that I want to scale up (maybe due to the last scale value used). Please let the function wait for user input, before complaining.

5. Saved file reopens with some layers and data missing

6. Adobe Illustrator 2026 Crashes with Uncompressed TIFF (Compression: None)

   Dear Adobe Illustrator Engineering Team,

   I am reporting what appears to be a compatibility regression or TIFF parsing issue that causes Adobe Illustrator to crash consistently when opening documents containing specific TIFF images saved with Compression = None (Uncompressed TIFF).

   Adobe Illustrator 2026 on Windows
   Standard TIFF, no compression
   Interleaved (RGBRGB) pixel order
   IBM PC (Little Endian) byte order

   Illustrator crashes immediately when opening or placing TIFF files saved without compression.

   The same files become fully functional after being re-saved using LZW compression, without any changes to image content, dimensions, color mode, bit depth, or metadata.

   This behavior strongly suggests that the issue is related to Illustrator's handling of the uncompressed TIFF encoding path, rather than the image data itself.

   Reproduction Steps
   1. Create or export a TIFF image.
   2. Save using:
   Compression: None
   Standard TIFF format
   Place the TIFF into an Illustrator document, or open an existing Illustrator file containing the TIFF.
   Illustrator immediately crashes or closes without warning.

   Control Test
   1. Open the same TIFF file in Photoshop.
   2. Re-save the file using:
   Compression: LZW
   Reopen the Illustrator document.

   Result: Illustrator opens normally and the image is rendered correctly.

   Expected Behavior
   Adobe Illustrator should maintain compatibility with TIFF files saved using Compression: None, as this is part of the TIFF specification and has historically been a standard format used in:

   Print production
   Publishing workflows
   Archival imaging
   Legacy design projects
   Prepress environments
   Actual Behavior
   Immediate application crash.
   No meaningful error message is displayed.
   The issue is fully reproducible.
   Switching only the TIFF compression method from None to LZW resolves the problem.
   Business Impact

   This issue has a significant impact on long-term project compatibility.

   My organization maintains a large archive of historical design projects that contain numerous TIFF assets saved without compression. These files were created over many years and remain part of active production workflows.

   Because Illustrator cannot reliably open these files, we are forced to:

   Locate the original TIFF assets.
   Batch-convert legacy images.
   Rebuild or repair historical project files.

   This creates unnecessary production delays and introduces risk to archived projects that should remain fully compatible with current Adobe software.

   Technical Observation

   Based on testing, the crash appears specifically linked to TIFF files using:

   Compression = None (Uncompressed)

   while TIFF files using:

   LZW
   ZIP

   appear to function normally.

   This may indicate an issue in Illustrator's TIFF decoding routine, memory allocation process, or compatibility handling for uncompressed raster data.

   Request

   Could the Illustrator engineering team please:

   Investigate support for uncompressed TIFF files.
   Verify whether this behavior is a known issue or regression.
   Restore compatibility with TIFF images saved using Compression: None.
   Provide guidance regarding any temporary workaround beyond manual conversion of legacy assets.

   I would be happy to provide sample TIFF files and crash logs if needed to assist with debugging and reproduction.

7. Eyedropper with Shift held doesn’t pick the rendered stroke color unless clicked very precisely into path

   If I have an outside stroke (thick enough for clarity, like in the GIF), I can’t use Shift-mode with the Eyedropper tool to pick the color from the actually rendered stroke — I have to click very precisely the path itself, or I get the fill color. Same with the inside stroke.

   With a normal center-aligned stroke the half within the path gives the fill’s color, and the outside half gives the stroke’s one.

   All three are wrong. Shift should force the tool to pick the color directly under the cursor, the one that is rendered.

8. Object edge highlight color reverts to black while moving objects.

   Ever since the illustrator 2026 update, when I move objects the highlight color changes to black like in the attached video. I'm currently running 30.3 and it seems like it has only become more and more prevalent. Obviously this isn't great when you're working against a darker color in the background. Is this a feature that I've missed a checkbox to turn off or is this a glitch? For the techy peeps I'm running a MacBook pro Intel (2017 I think) and I'm on Tahoe 26.3.1.

   Stopped happening after reinstalling Ai anew. If this happens to you still and the same doesn’t work, please comment and share your setup specs.

9. DXF import size issue 2026 that works in 2024

   Opening DXF in latest version 2026 at original size or 1:1 does not work, results are close but not exact. Works fine in version 2024. However, if saved as a PDF from 2024 with accurate sizes, when opened in version 2026 the size is not accurate, a few thousands off. Have many files that were created using 2024 and if I need to make adjustments for any reason opening in 2026 will result in size issues.
   Windows 10 64 gb ram.

10. Shapes move when scaling

    Window 11 Pro
    Ai verion: 30.6

    Make a square and add a stroke. Align stroke to center. Grab the top path with selection arrow and pull down. The square will decrease in size but the bottom of the square will move down a little. It should stay in place. This happens with outside aligned stroke as well, but not inside.

12. Scribble Effect Not Showing Up in Menu, But Still Accessible

    Before, the Scribble effect used to be found under Effects > Stylize. In the 2026 version, it's gone. Only Glowing Edges appears under Stylize. But when I search for Scribble by hitting the magnifying glass icon and typing it in, I can access the effect and still use it. Some people still use this effect for making ikat-inspired shapes, for example...I think it was removed from the menu by accident. Please readd it under Effects > Stylize.

    SVG wird nicht korrekt geöffnet/importiert, es fehlen Pfade!
    Wenn die Datei vorher in Inkscape neu gespeichert wird z.B. als PDF ist alles vorhanden.

    (leider kann das svg nicht angehängt werden!?)

15. Glyphs panel behaves differently for COLRv0/1 spec color fonts

    Illustrator has been supporting COLRv0/v1-spec color fonts since early last year, which has been great to use, but lately I have been wondering if one feature of the Glyphs Panel is more a bug than intended.

    When using a static COLRv0-built font, the Glyphs Panel is filled with separate "layered" characters of each glyph in black/white. With a high amount of characters this leads to an extremely cluttered panel.

    When using one of my own COLRv0 designs, I noticed that while the static version has all these extra layers (see the images attached), a variable COLRv0 font doesn't preview any of these layers and shows a clutter-free panel. The same happens with static vs variable COLRv1 fonts.

    Although Adobe doesn't have any variable COLR-spec fonts in the fonts library, fonts such as Zebrawood (https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/zebrawood-color) can be used for reference. For a Variable COLRv1 font one of Google's color fonts can be used as reference, such as the COLRv1 font Nabla (https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Nabla).

    The source of all these extra glyphs is Illustrator probably seeing the deconstructed layers of the color font as separate characters. SVG Color fonts of course don't have this issue and behave correctly.

    Is showing all layers as separate glyphs (in a static COLRv0/1 font) vs showing none (in a Variable COLRv0/1 font) in the glyphs panel intended or a bug?

16. Repeat makes some objects without a stroke loose fill

    When several objects with no stroke get selected and then converted into a Repeat Grid object, all but the first object vanish.
    Thanks to Ashraful Islam for spotting this.

17. New Glitch in Smart Guides, highlighting perspective grid-like points

    Theres a new update glitch in smart guides, when I have an object selected, a bunch of perspective grid-like highlights.

    This setting is connected with object highlighting in smart guide settings. If i shut off object highlighting in Illustrator>Preferences>Smart Guides>Object Highlighting, the issue stops.

    Seems like just a new bug glitch in a recent illustrator update.

18. Images disappear or become corrupted after drag and drop on Mac

    Illustrator 29.4
    Drag and drop from a Browser to an Artboard
    Use Cmd Shift 4 and drag a screendump to an artboard
    Drag and Drop from Photoshop a layer with transparency to an Illustrator artboard.

    Saving and opening the Illustrator file makes it disappear or gives some distorted lines.

19. Selection tool broken

    Using the selection tool. I can click an object and get the bounding box but can not move or drag the object. Arrow keys do work to move it but I can not move it by mouse. This reoccurs upon restart.

20. Can’t rearrange a selected object and bring it to front

    Arrange tools are completely busted. I am trying to move a selected object to front. The shortcut (shift, cmd, ] or [) does not move the selected object at all. The menu option also results in nothing.
