1. Spot Colors Won't Update In Linked Items

   Spot Colors are not immediately updating for linked items when adjusting the color values of the swatch. The change will only show after a few seconds, when the file is embedded, or when overprint preview is enabled. Previous versions of illustrator allowed spot colors to be updated for linked items immediately. Spot color adjustments only immediately affect objects that are embedded or built within the file.

   Using illustrator for color separations requires me to edit the appearance of spot white to be visible in different circumstances between film and art files.

2. Illustrator 30.3 bug: Use Preview Bounds ignored for effects applied directly to symbol instances

   In Illustrator 30.3, I appear to have found a bug related to bounding boxes and the Use Preview Bounds preference.

   When an effect is applied directly to a symbol instance, Illustrator seems to ignore the Use Preview Bounds setting and behaves as though preview bounds are enabled for that object. This does not happen when the same effect is applied to the symbol definition itself, which has always used preview bounds, regardless of the preference setting, and it does not happen when the symbol instance is placed inside a group and the effect is applied to the group instead (good to know for a workaround).

   Observed behavior:

   1. Use Preview Bounds disabled

   2. Effect, such as a drop-shadow, applied directly to a symbol instance

   3. Bounding box still expands to include the effect’s visible extent

   To be clear, I am not referring to an effect applied to any elements of a symbol (within the symbol's definition); this has always used preview bounds with necessity, regardless of the preference setting.

   Expected behavior:

   With Use Preview Bounds disabled, the bounding box should remain based on the object/path bounds rather than the effect extent. For example, adding a drop-shadow to a instance of a symbol should have the same effect on the bounding box as adding the same drop-shadow to any other object.

   Workaround:

   Group the symbol instance and apply the effect to the group, not directly to the symbol instance. If you have already applied the effect to the symbol instance, simply move it to the group using the target control in the Layers palette.

   This seems like a regression in how Illustrator handles bounding boxes for symbol instances with live effects. If others can reproduce this, it would help confirm whether this is a broader issue in 30.3.

3. Bleed is applied randomly when not enabled

   Issues with bleed. I keep saving a PDF withOUT bleed and it saves it with bleed. It randomly picks and choses which files it'll apply a bleed to and which it won't apply a bleed to, despite me picking NO BLEED on all of them. Very frustrating.

5. Can't select all and use Outline Stroke directly, especially Clipping Mask items

   Can't select all to Outline Stroke directly, some clipping mask items will be missing, then need to adjust one by one, very inconvenient for printing FA

6. Cannot Save as New File in v30

   Using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator (2026 version?)

   Trying to "save as new" but the save window does not load completely and then button shapes inside disappear and remains in this state. The only thing you can do is close the box.

   The team has identified an issue for a small subset of users who are on the Windows operating system and also have their network traffic routed through a proxy.

   A temporary solution to this issue is the following:

   1. Open up PowerShell
   2. Copy and paste the following commands:

   cd "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2026"$env:WEBVIEW2_ADDITIONAL_BROWSER_ARGUMENTS = "--use-system-proxy-resolver"& '.\Illustrator.exe'

7. First Attempt to Copy Hex Not Working

   When I click into the fill properties under appearance, and click the "copy value" button, it always will deselect and NOT copy on first attempt. But if I try again after it will work. Similarly, when I first click on the value, it highlights, and then if I do CMD + C the value will become de-selected and not copied.

8. Illustrator Czech Locale Brush Anomaly: Extra Brush and Deletable Protected Brush

   I found an inconsistency in the Czech locale of Illustrator (tested in v29 and v30, Windows 10, macOS).

   When creating a new document in the Czech locale, there is one extra default calligraphic brush compared to all other 18 locales. On top of that, the default calligraphic brush that is normally protected from deletion (in every other locale) can be freely deleted in Czech.

9. Can't see any Artboards

   Every project I access opens, but I can't see any artboards. I have tried downgrading and uninstalling+reinstalling, to no effect.

10. (Bug) Alignment buttons go into hiding when selecting more than one object

    When selecting a single object, the Alignment buttons appear on the top UI bar. But select MORE THAN ONE object, the Alignment buttons disappear.

    Now I have to click on the "Align" flyout menu and click an option from there in order to align 2 objects, because my UI shows more blank space and fewer features than before.

11. Saving in older illustrator format scales 10 times down

    When saving a file in an older illustrator format, now the file appears 10 times smaller. As a signmaker working with sign software that doesn't accept newer ai or eps files this is VERY MUCH unwanted. I can scale it back to 100% in my sign making software but only manual. Not by alttering the comma in the scaling. This isn't accuracy I often need. Please undo this downscaling. Me, and a lot of colleagues, work for decades this way.

12. Moving several points of an area type or type on path causes "undo"

    I am no longer able to move multiple anchor points for text on a path in v30 (GPU mode).
    I'm using a Studio M2 Max with MacOS 15.5..

    The attached video demonstrates this behavior. I have two duplicate paths. While using "View using GPU" I try to edit multiple nodes on the text path. What happens is:

    1. the preview of the path disappears while I'm trying to move the nodes.
    2. the entire line moves, even though I've only selected a few nodes.
    3. my type was replaced with the "Lorem Ipsum" text (this happens intermittently, not every time).

    But, when I switch to "View using CPU" the program functions normally.

    This is something I do very frequently, and I typically have GPU mode on, so this is a new behavior.

    I tested this on other installed versions of Illustrator:

    On v29.8.2 I am able to move multiple nodes, but the preview of the path still disappears while you're moving it. Switching to CPU mode corrects that.

    On v.28.7.2 Everything works normally, both in GPU and CPU modes.

    Edit: After posting this, I now believe that this might be related to the setting "Real-Time Drawing and Editing". Turning that off "seems" to fix things (for both v30 and v29).

    But it should be noted, in 28.7.2 I CAN keep "Real-Time Drawing and Editing" enabled AND use GPU mode and everything functions fine.

13. 文字が欠ける原因を知りたい

14. No se puede abrir el archivo. "No es posible acceder al archivo con la cuenta que has iniciado sesión".

    Eso dice al intentar abrir un archivo. Pero la cuenta con la que estoy intentando abrirlos es la misma cuenta con la que los creé. Eso no me pasaba hasta que se actualizó a la versión 30.3 el Illustrator. Necesito ayuda, por favor. No abrir absolutamente ningún archivo, en todos me aparece la misma leyenda: "No se puede abrir el archivo. No es posible acceder al archivo con la cuenta que has iniciado sesión. Ponte en contacto con el propietario para consultar más detalles." Pero yo soy la propietaria, ayuda por favor.

15. Illustrator 2025 29.8.2 でタブ間のオブジェクトのドラッグ アンド ドロップ移動ができない / Drag and drop of objects between tabs doesn't work

    2. オブジェクトをドラッグ＆ドロップで他のタブへ移動（コピー）

    3. 29.7までは何の問題もなく、移動先タブが開き、コピーできる

    4. 移動先タブが開かない　10秒くらいタブ上でカーソルを維持するとタブが開くことがあるが、オブジェクトがない（タブ移動しただけ）

16. Order of duplicated artboards is reversed

    A big issue is that if you select several artboards at once to duplicate them and they were in order
    A
    B
    C
    they used to duplicate as
    copy of A
    copy of B
    copy of C

    Since the latest Illustrator update they mirror instead, as
    copy of C
    copy of B
    copy of A

    Makes batch duplication worthless and I now have to duplicate each one separately OR do the set and then move them around manually.

    The fix has been pushed into the latest 30.3 general release. Please update, check, and comment back if it still happens.

17. Illustrator crashes when triggering an action to flip an object horizontally or vertically.

    I think I’ve finally narrowed this down!
    I’ll cut to the chase:

    • macOS Sonoma 14.7.5
    • Illustrator v30.2.1

    • Custom Action #1: Transform Panel > Flip Horizontal
    • Custom Action #2: Transform Panel > Flip Vertical

    Triggering Actions #1 or #2 with the play button in the Actions Panel - or a hotkey linked to the action - is successful if:
    • The Transform Panel is open in a Panel and is the Active Tab
    • The Transform Panel is completely closed (triggering the actions then open the Panel floating somewhere in the workspace)

    Triggering Actions #1 or #2 with instantly cause Illustrator (30.2.1) to CRASH if:

    • The Transform Panel is present in a Panel in the workspace, but is not the Active Tab

    Whew!
    That’s a load of frustration off my mind!

    My Fix: I now just keep the Transform Window open in its own small Panel all the time. I never use it anyways, and would prefer to just keep it closed, but it’s annoying to have it pop up every time I flip an object, so keeping it stuffed quietly in the corner is the next best thing.

    Additional info in response to a query on the Adobe Community forum:

    It has been plaguing me on multiple versions of Illustrator after I upgraded from v29 I believe.

    The crash happens on any and all objects in any file if I follow the steps outlined in my OP.

    I’ve got a weird vertical mouse with extra hotkeys - two of which I use to trigger those actions - thought maybe the mouse was causing it after macOS upgrade, but then I got the same crash when clicking the play button in the Actions panel.

    Full System restarts would seem to occasionally fix the problem for a while, then it all of a sudden it would crash again, and then reliably on every reboot of Illustrator after that. Now I think that after the system restarts, my Transform Panel would just happen to be the active tab, so no crashes until I inadvertently used another tab in the same Panel, then tried to Flip again.

    The upload option will not seem to allow me to select my .aia actions file for upload.

18. Zoom in and out is slow

    In the last version of Illustrator (30.0 on Windows 11), the zoom (mouse, keyboard) does not work appropriately (very slow), making the use of the software almost impossible. This bug was not existing in former version (29.x). Unticking graphics acceleration in parameters panel makes it even worse.
    My config: Windows 11 (French), Intel I9, 32Gbytes of RAM, NVidia Geforce 4080 (581.29)
    Please solve rapidly this bug.

19. The Eraser Tool sometimes deletes entire blocks of geometry

    The Eraser Tool, even with a size of 0 pt (but also with 1 or 2 pt), sometimes deletes entire blocks of geometry, sometimes draws a gap in the geometry (as it should always do). This bug has always existed, you have never fixed it. Often, to make partial deletions of the geometry, I have to use other software (such as CorelDRAW).

20. Dotted Guides are not precise in GPU preview

    Guides should allow us to be sure about alignment.
    And while in CPU it’s mostly true, in GPU preview dotted guides get drawn 1 pixel off.
    These should perfectly overlap the edges of the object aligned!
