App crash while using pen tool causing total file loss
I had made a copy of the file attached and drew it for hours. And suddenly when using the pen tool the whole app crashed and caused me to lose 8 hours of work. Extremely disappointed.

Illustrator crashes when triggering an action to flip an object horizontally or vertically.
I think I’ve finally narrowed this down!
I’ll cut to the chase:• macOS Sonoma 14.7.5
• Illustrator v30.2.1• Custom Action #1: Transform Panel > Flip Horizontal
• Custom Action #2: Transform Panel > Flip VerticalTriggering Actions #1 or #2 with the play button in the Actions Panel - or a hotkey linked to the action - is successful if:
• The Transform Panel is open in a Panel and is the Active Tab
• The Transform Panel is completely closed (triggering the actions then open the Panel floating somewhere in the workspace)Triggering Actions #1 or #2 with instantly cause Illustrator (30.2.1) to CRASH if:
• The Transform Panel is present in a Panel in the workspace, but is not the Active Tab
Whew!
That’s a load of frustration off my mind!My Fix: I now just keep the Transform Window open in its own small Panel all the time. I never use it anyways, and would prefer to just keep it closed, but it’s annoying to have it pop up every time I flip an object, so keeping it stuffed quietly in the corner is the next best thing.
Additional info in response to a query on the Adobe Community forum:
It has been plaguing me on multiple versions of Illustrator after I upgraded from v29 I believe.
The crash happens on any and all objects in any file if I follow the steps outlined in my OP.
I’ve got a weird vertical mouse with extra hotkeys - two of which I use to trigger those actions - thought maybe the mouse was causing it after macOS upgrade, but then I got the same crash when clicking the play button in the Actions panel.
Full System restarts would seem to occasionally fix the problem for a while, then it all of a sudden it would crash again, and then reliably on every reboot of Illustrator after that. Now I think that after the system restarts, my Transform Panel would just happen to be the active tab, so no crashes until I inadvertently used another tab in the same Panel, then tried to Flip again.
The upload option will not seem to allow me to select my .aia actions file for upload.

Hitting Down with an artboard selected in Artboards panel now moves it on canvas instead of in the list
In the newest update, if I have an artboard highlighted in the panel and I hit the down arrow, it used to go down the artboard list. But now it nudges the actual artboard.
I acknowledge that nudging artboards could maybe be useful for something (though I can't think of what) but being able to navigate the list with arrows is much more valuable in my opinion.2 votesTo navigate artboards in the the panel, without zooming into them, hold Opt/Alt with arrows keys (up/down work the same way as left/right).

When relinking images, one of the images appears as their original sizing and not the size of the image being replaced, just on new update
When relinking multiple images, one of the image appears as their original sizing and not the size of the image being replaced, This is just after receiving the new update (I do this everyday). This is not always true, sometimes it works fine. but most of the time it doesn't. I'm using Mac.

Selected Fill Color/Stroke is stuck to one color and won't change.
Hello! I'm using MacOS, and I'm on Illustrator 2026. When I was trying to change the fill gradient of my font, I ran into a glitch where the colors would not change. It's stuck to the original color I had originally. When trying to change the fill color, it changes on the interface but not when I draw. I've tried exiting out of Illustrator but it's still stuck. Even when adding text, it's stuck on black instead of yellow/any other color and it won't change.

PDF with negative values for BleedBox, MediaBox shows incorrectly
A PDF with negative values for the lower left corner of BleedBox, MediaBox and a TrimBox that has its lower left corner at (0,0) shows differently in Illustrator and Acrobat. Acrobat (and other PDF viewers) show the contents as expected, in Illustrator the content seems shifted.
The attached example PDF has three different pages, the first two pages look as expected, the last page (with the negative values) does not look the same in Illustrator and Acrobat.

Text copied from web paste white but swatch says its black
Since version 30.1 anytime i paste text into a file, the text will past white instead of black like it use too. All swatch areas say it is black but the text will be white. This has gotten pretty annoying because everytime i paste in text i have to change the color of it.

All my symbols gets displaced all the times
Whenever I make symbols for sock label logo, these symbols get randomly gets displaced and moved to another location on the art board by itself. the positioning is completely random and no logic. It's been like this since Illustrator 2025. what is going on???
Please see attached for example of what I mean random displacement of symbols, all the symbol object have been moved randomly to top right. Only way to fix is to break the symbols and manually move these objects back to where I intended to place. This is a must fix bug. please help!!!!MacOS 26.2 Illustrator 29.6 (desktop)

SVG files won't open in Illustrator 2026. Works in earlier versions (tested in 2024)
SVG files won't open in Illustrator 2026. I can open them in Illustrator 2024, and paste them into 2026. But opening the file in 2026 results in a totally blank artboard. Perhaps the parse is broken? Something got worse between these versions...

Dataset names with decimal values are truncated during Batch Export
When exporting multiple Data Sets via Actions (PDF/EPS/SVG/JPG/PNG format), if the Data Set name contains a decimal value (for example: “Cumin Seeds 1.6 KG”), the exported file name does not retain the full value.
Instead, the file name is truncated and exported as “Cumin Seeds 1.pdf” rather than “Cumin Seeds 1.6 KG.pdf”.It appears that Illustrator interprets the period (.) in the dataset name as part of a file extension separator, which results in the decimal value being removed during export.
This creates workflow issues, especially in packaging and SKU-based production environments where decimal weights such as 1.6 KG, 2.5 KG, etc., are standard and must remain accurate in file naming for printing, inventory, and documentation purposes.
I kindly request:
1. A review of this behavior to determine whether it is a bug.
2. If intentional, consideration of a feature enhancement that allows dataset names to preserve decimal values during batch export.
3. Alternatively, an option that allows users to control filename parsing behavior when exporting via Data Sets.This improvement would greatly benefit professionals working with variable data and multi-SKU packaging workflows.

Navigation button (up, down, left right) not working
I am using the latest Adobe Illustrator on windows and it's always the navigation button (up, down, left, right) cannot work. Tried to use Shift key, but still not working. Been like this for a half year. Also, you should be able to permit us using mouse to zoom in/out. Otherwise, it's a nightmare for fast-paced workers.

Absolute mode in Transform Each gives inaccurate dimensions
For the new "Absolute" option in the Transform Each window, I expected it to be able to scale objects with strokes to exact dimensions when the "Scale Strokes & Effects" checkbox is unchecked.
With the checkbox checked, everything works as expected. However, users also need to scale an object while keeping the stroke unchanged, yet still achieving an exact target width or height (a common need for icon designers, for example).
As you can see at the start of the video, the original size is 74.1971 pt in Transform Each. We then instruct it to become 50 pt, and the function confirms it has done so. But in reality:
* The object's height, including the stroke, is not 50 pt.
* The object's height, excluding the stroke, is also not 50 pt.For comparison, I later demonstrate a script that, with the "Scale Strokes & Effects" box unchecked, provides the expected precise height, based on either the visual or geometric bounds as an option.

Frozen Libraries Panel in Illustrator 30.1
This has happened to me in various CC programs, but Ilustrator is the one most persistent. Basically I have Illustrator open most of the day and am switching between various apps in my workflow. Most commonly, when I return to Illustrator after it has been open for a while the CC library panel will be frozen. I am unable to click on anything in there, and if I resize the panel it distorts the contents. Sometimes the panel is partially frozen and I find out by trying to apply a color swatch, but instead the click opens a graphic asset that is no where near where I selected on the screen.
The only fix is to quit the program and relaunch it. Occasionally, it happens during the time I am working in the program, but mostly I find it that way after returning to it. This is getting so disruptive that I am finding myself avoiding use of the libraries panel altogether. This says a lot because this is normally one of the most cohesive and convenient parts of my workflow.
I have read various posts on this, I am familiar with and at times relaunch Creative Cloud. However, none of these actions make a lasting change. I recently updated to a new Mac Studio and I had hoped that this issue was somehow tied to the fusion drive on my old computer. Unfortunately, I am experiencing the same issues on this new system. There is something wrong with CC libraries that has been causing this issue for at least a year and persists with the most recent updates. This needs to be fixed.

Color fill turning grey when selecting outside of Gamut area
I am selecting colors for CMYK that are not out of Gamut, and it is still turning grey. Very annoying. I've been having so many issues with Illustrator not performing as expected.

Export for Screens scale dropdown doesn't work
In the Export for Screens dialogue, the dropdown does not change the scale entered in the box. For example: box says 0.25x. I choose 1x in the dropdown, 1x is checked in the dropdown, but the box still says 0.25x and the export will be 0.25x.
Typing the scale in the box works.

Double-click to highlight and edit a text doesn't work, not in user interface and not in text objects.
