PARM Error after switching from Illustrator CC2023 to Illustrator CC2025
ILLUSTRATOR PARM ERROR MESSAGE
Hello everyone,
I am trying to resolve a PARM issue that users have been facing since migrating from CC 2023 (27.9) to CC 2025 (29.8.2).
System: macOS 15.6.1
Apple M1 Max
64 GB
The error message appears on many files, significantly slowing down file editing and making Illustrator extremely slow.
The only solution I have found is to reset the Illustrator preferences. This solution temporarily fixes the issue, but then it switches back.
When this happens (regularly), Illustrator becomes impossible to use.
I am looking for information on this issue. Is it a hardware issue, RAM, graphics card, or potential file corruption?
At this stage, I have not yet collected any files from users who did not think to make a copy of the affected files. I only have screenshots.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue would be welcome. Thanks for your help !

A width profile that is uneditable and rendered wrong
Take a look at these two path; Illustrator says they have the same width profile, but it’s obviously not correct.
If saved as Graphic styles — these do match.
Paths match.
Directions match (and simple reversing still looks different).
The left-hand path cannot be edited with the native Width tool.I can edit these with Width Selector tool by Astute Graphics, but it makes the width changed in a different spot. Saving the style, clearing the appearance, reapplying the style — heals the bug. Deleting a leftmost segment... this keep the look the same (almost), but the bug gets healed — the native tool now works. It’d be very interesting to know, how it was created — but I don’t know, actually.

Not Getting "Overwrite notification" when exporting using "File/Export/Export as..."
This only started happening recently and I'm not sure what to do to fix it. Whenever I export a file using the "Export as..." feature, I'll navigate to the location where it was previously exported and click the "Export" button. I used to get an overwrite notification asking if I wished to do so and I'd just click yes or no. Now, for some reason, that notification isn't triggering and Adobe Illustrator is just overwriting. I tried using Windows Explorer to copy and paste a file to the same location, and Windows "does" give the standard notification to confirm overwrite. It's only when I'm using Illustrator (specifically "File/Export/Export as..." with "Use Artboards" checked, that it's skipping that step.
It doesn't matter what format I'm exporting.
I created a 100 pt x 100 pt artboard. Export as JPG to desktop with settings outlined in the attachment. When I try to repeat the process, I should get an overwrite notification but I do not.. No notification. The process simply overwrites without question.
I'm on PC

Linked images (with embedded profiles) shift color when embedded
Embedding an Adobe RGB (or any profile that is different than the current document profile) image (jpeg, png, tiff) in an sRGB Illustrator 2025 document gives a different result than with an Illustrator 2024 document.
When Profile warnings are checked in the Color Settings, the warning dialogs are different between 2024 and 2025
2024 warns for a Paste Profile Mismatch and allows to “Convert.(preserve color appearance)”
2025 warns for an Embedded Profile Mismatch and wants to “Use the embedded profile (instead of the working space)”.
When embedding in 2024 the default is “Convert” (which tries to keep the color appearance and the result will look more or less the same).
When embedding in 2024 and selecting the “Don't convert (preserve color numbers)” option, the color appearance will change visibly (as expected).
When embedding in 2025 the default is: “Use the embedded profile”, which will change the color appearance visibly).
When the option “Discard the embedded profile (don't color manage)” is chosen, the result is the same as the Use the embedded profile option, it also will change the color appearance visibly.
When the warnings for Profile mismatches are turned off in the Color Settings (which are off by default), the user has no choice and will see the color change in 2025 because the numbers are always used instead of the profile.

Rotating an object with 3D Extrude & Bevel causes pixelation in v29.8.2
I don't know if any user has raised this before, but the 3D Extrude and Bevel in Illustrator (29.8.2) has an issue. When trying to manipulate an object by rotating it, the object completely pixelates as it is adjusted. It's impossible to ascertain the positioning as it just becomes a massed blob of pixels whilst I am trying to position it. Whether positioning it manually, or by using the X,Y, Z sliders, the problem still persists. Zooming in doesn't work either (the pixellation just increases in size). See screen grab- as you can see, the item I am trying to manipulate is completely pixelated as and whenever I try to reposition it.
The Classic version doesn't have this issue, and the object remains clear at all times. A shame as the new version has more features, but it's quite unusable because of this.
Can you sort this issue out?

Values in W / H fields in Transform dropdown from Control don’t get updated while editing another field with Constrain Proportions enabled
When editing an object, click in the Height or Width input box and use the arrow keys on the keyboard to decrease the value. When changing one value (e.g. height), the other value is not updated. You must exit the window and return to it to see the value.

Image in clipping mask moves when I open the file in Acrobat or Preview
Illustrator 29.8.2 on Mac Ventura 13.7.8
I have images in clipping masks. When I open the .ai document in Adobe Acrobat or Preview, the images have moved.
The workaround I have for now is to print to .ps to generate a .pdf.(I just updated Illustrator but it happened yesterday too before the update with another file)

Files won't actually save until closed.
Illustrator 29.8.1
When either choosing the 'save' command from the file menu, or hitting 'command+s' the saving text flashes in the filename of the tab, but the file does not actually save and it continues to have the unsaved changes asterisk there as well.
The only way to save and get the currently open file to save/update is to try and close the file, and then save through the 'you have unsaved changes' window that pops up before closing.
Please fix this, I have several operations in my workflow that require uploading a file I'm currently working on to an online system, and I don't want to have to close it and then reopen it to do so.

Variables Panel columns don't resize
Variables Panel interface columns don't move in case variables names are long. This is a problem that is still not fixed. I know that it worked in old version of illustrator CS2 and CS3 you can modify the columns in de the panel interface so you can read all variables names better. Today we need to restrict the text length of the variables names so we can read in de panel interface. This is not an ideal alternative. Can you please fix this so that the panel works again like Illustrator CS3 ?

Spell check error - changes language to Bulgarian
Spell Check starts in English for the first few then always changes to Bulgarian! This renders spell check absolutely useless, unless I happen to type in Bulgarian... which I haven't had the need to so far.

That's it. It just disappeared. Reset computer - didn't fix it. I'm on Windows 11 Pro Version 24H2. I'm updated to the latest Windows 11 version, and the latest Adobe Illustrator CC version (v 29.8.1)

Selection Tool grabbing top layer rather than selected object in Layers panel
I’m aware that there are workarounds to this issue, but being something I have always done through habit, I don't like that this has suddenly changed on me. I reset my settings to default, but cannot find anything that goes back to how I used to select objects.
Okay into the issue... I usually would select objects in the Layer panel, I use overlapping objects of the EXACT same size, ones with pattern vectors and gaps and lower layers of gradient colours, and if I want to edit this colour layer or move it around my canvas, I would normally just click the object, select in the Layers panel, but then when I go to click to slide the bottom layer out and away it automatically grabs the very top layer. I know I could lock the top layer or isolate the selected bottom layer, but I just enjoyed the simplicity of not needing to do either of those things in the past.
Please someone help me, I’ve been trying to fix this for hours with no luck.I’ve supplied a video, where I would like to just select, edit or move the bottom object (in this video being the rainbow layer), however I can only move it with isolation mode now, which isn't what I want.

Gen AI Style Reference not working correctly
I let it generate a dragon. Then pointed to a style reference - a picture of an elephant. And then generated again. Now the dragon had a trunk.... A trunk is not a graphic / artistic style. A style reference should look at style rather than content / subject.

Fehler bei Bildern beim Ändern vom Dokumentfarbmodus RGB <=> CMYK (Bilder gehen kaput)
System: Windows 11 Pro, Illustrator 29.8.1
MfG Ralf Fleischer
