Every time Illustrator start, CEPHTMLengine steal focus by constantly being killed/crash and restarted
This is a bug, not an idea.
I'm using Illustrator 2019 with full Adobe CC over Windows 7 pro, Since the update from 2018 every time I start Illustrator all other windows loose focus every 20sec, including Illustrator. I can not even type a full sentence when illustrator is ON. Once Illustrator is closed, the normal focus returns.
I noticed that the CEPHTMLEngine start when Illustrator start and its being killed or crash every 20sec and then is restarted, This restart steal focus from any program running in windows. The cycle continues until Illustrator is closed.I'm behind a corporate firewall that block any rogue application from accessing the internet and Adobe CC and Illustrator had been cleared and everything had worked OK since 2016 until the new 2019 version.
Please fix this bug or indicate the procedure to prevent CEPHTMLengine from stealing focus.

svg text
Exporting SVG on Illustrator CC 2019 23.0.2 on MacOS 10.14.3 is giving inconsistent results in regards to text. I am trying to export a file as an SVG with Font option set to SVG. However, the SVG file exported has some texts converted to paths or outlines and some texts are preserved as texts, which is what is desired. We have also tried this under Illustrator CC 2019 23.0.1 on Windows 10 Home with same results. We have included a sample file for you to test.
5 votesHi Akshay,
We were able to confirm the issue that you see. The issue indeed does not happen with Illustrator 2018 (22.1).
We identified hyphenation as the potential culprit. To workaround the issue, either disable hyphenation in the Paragraph panel or make sure text does not get hyphenated.
We are sorry that you experience the issue and are working on fixing the issue.

I have to keep re-activating fonts
For no seemingly obvious reason, and quite randomly, my fonts wont activate when I open Illustrator. I have to turn off "Enable Adobe Fonts" in CC and then turn it back on. This is getting very frustrating -

Rotate tool repeatable bug,
Copy by Rotate Tool, Repeatable Bug
OS: Windows 10
Illustrator Version: 23.0.1Steps to reproduce:
- create a box or square
- activate the rotate tool (R)
- click on any corner of the box to move the pivot
- begin rotation
- hold down ALT to initiate copy
- release mouse to end rotation and complete copy
Expected Result:
Copy of object created at rotation specified by tool.Actual Result:
At this point, illustrator will not release the copy and end the rotation. Attempting to select off the tool will not be allowed, as if a modal dialog is up. The only way to regain control of the application is to attempt a force quit from the operating system level. This will force a save dialog, cancelling it will return focus to the application and allow the user to proceed.Workarounds attempted:
Preference Folder removal and recreation.
Reinstall and update.
Disabling of GPU acceleration for Illustrator.None have any effect on the problem.

Graphics AMD Redeon R9 M380 2048MBIllustrator is CC 2019 23.0.1

Expand Appearance is greyed out in 2019 compare to CC2018, same doc, same selection, it is enabled.
I have a document which, when I select certain objects in CC 2019 - Expand Appearance isn't available and Expand, when used, doesn't give the expected result. Exact same document, exact same selection in CC 2018 and Expand Appearance is available, and when clicked, works perfectly and as expected.
FYI - the selection has a number of Transform effects applied to it.5 voteswe will need someone to have a look at the file to determine the issue.

Type Box fills with x's
When I choose the Type Box tool, and click in the document to create a Type Box or simply place text, as soon as the box is created, it fills with X's/squares and goes off on it's own continually typing the X/square.
At that point I am not touching the keyboard, there is no key being held down, yet it seems to be "stuck" in creating the X/square.
Initially it only happened with Myriad Pro, so I uninstalled that font. Then it continued to do it with Arial. Now it does it, no matter what. I've un-installed Illustrator and re-installed and am still dealing with the same issue. I've attached a video here. You'll see the first time I go to type, it does it.
Then, I create a new box and it does not do it. It works normally.
I create another box, and it starts doing it again. I am not touching the keyboard or any keys when the x/square boxes go off on their own.
When I do try to continue typing, you'll see the text continue to run away even when parts of words appear, the x/square shows up in the middle.

Direct Selection Tool not showing bounding box
Hi,
When I'm selecting an object using the Direct Selection Tool there is no bounding box to it or any other indication that the object is selected.
I checked the View menu, and it is set on to show the bounding box, so I assume there is a bug causing this.
It doesn't matter what kind of object I select, or whether it's in a group or not - the result is the same: no bounding box or even anchors are shown.I'm using the latest release - 23.0.1 on windows 10 (updated).
Thanks
Ori Manor5 votesIt seems like the problem is not about the bounding box...
If you don’t see anchors selected, please check if you have View > Show Edges enabled. It's easy to toggle it with Cmd/Ctrl + H, and it’s a common mishap.
If that’s the thing for you (or not) — please comment back.
As for the bounding box specifically (the frame with 8 scale/rotations markers) — it never shows up when using the Direct Selection tool, and never was, and should not.
If you need to scale or rotate a partial selection of anchors, use Free Transform or Rotate or Scale tools instead.

Could not read file because the plug in did not understand this file
Hi,
Illustrator was working fine, suddenly crashed and now says: 'Could not read the file because the plugin did not understand this file' everytime I try to launch.
I had alot of vectors on the document and several artboards and copies of work, some complex shapes and masks ect. Some of the some of the shapes which were masks in groups were clipping images, some of these clipping mask groups had been copied across documents and had missing links, which may be part of the problem.
Upon launching Illustrator a dialogue box appears and asks to 'replace' or 'ignore' the missing links, when either the actions of 'replace' or 'ignore' is taken the same error/bug keeps appearing: 'Could not read file because the plugin did not understand this file'.
The file size is 73.3mb so I don't think I'll be able to upload it but if there is any way i can send it to you and so things can be investigated.
Really need help with this.

Undo affects loaded actions, Redo makes them loose their shortcuts
It is telling when "Actions" is not even included in the "category" menu.
Load a saved Action set that includes Actions with keyboard shortcuts
Perform an "Undo" in AI
The Actions you just installed will be deleted
Perform a "Redo"
The Actions will reappear but without keyboard shortcuts.First: "Undo" should NOT affect the Actions.
Second: What is the deal with the lost Shortcuts??????
I am looking for a compelling reason to "upgrade" Illustrator. I am told this bug still exists in CC 2019!

Anchor Points Malfunctioning
I regret to report that, after updating to Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 and upgrading my OS Mojave, the anchor points have become rather fickle, especially with the Direct Selection tool. The shape will look the same once drawn with the Pen Tool, and the anchor points will still be there, but they are invisible. They can still be tampered with, but after releasing the mouse they will disappear. The same issue applies to the rectangular grid tool. Anchor points can be edited and seen with the curvature tool; that is about the only way to do so without the anchor point disappearing after the mouse ceases hovering over the point.
Another issue regards the Selection Tool. When I click an object, a rectangular box of my selected layer color appears around said object, but no outline appears around the object. For example, if I draw a spiral and select it, a box will appear around the spiral, but the spiral itself will not be outlined in my layer color.
I would show you a screenshot of the issue, but Illustrator deselects before I can take a proper screenshot.

Patern Maker's Numeric Scaling Is Broken
I'm creating a step and repeat wall using 2 graphics.
In a brick by column pattern, individual graphics can't be scaled using the menu dialog (Object>Transform>Scale).
However, they can be scaled using the tool panel's scale tool (keyboard shortcut s).
Entering precise scaling measurements that are supported in earlier versions of Illustrator would be appreciated!

Artwork windows not consolidating to the center window
Since updating my Illustrator for a week or so ago... when I open artwork the artwork does not open and I am unable to consolidate art windows into the main window. Seems like some sort of bug. The only way I can bring open files is by navigating to Window > Arrange > Float all windows. When I drag the window back into the main panel it disappears. The open screen will not go away.

Text missing in SVG files
This is the first time trying to use Illustrator since it updated to the newest version (23.0.1) and updating my Mac to High Sierra (10.14). I have previously used Illustrator to edit SVG files, specifically the text in those files. When I open similar SVG files in the new Illustrator, all of my text is missing. My computer is due for a small update which will go through later tonight but this seems like a bug within Illustrator. When I open the SVG in Photoshop 2019 and re-export it as a SVG, I am able to see the text in Illustrator when I import that file, but I can't select anything in the field since Photoshop's manipulated the original vectors. I really don't want to manually add in all my missing text, does anyone have any suggestions? On the picture, the left is a preview of the SVG and the text is visible. On the right, is the SVG in Illustrator with the text missing.

Unable to activate fonts because "Not signed in" even though I am signed in!
I am trying to open an Illustrator file that has two fonts which are not installed on my computer.
When I open the file, a dialog comes up and I click the "Find Fonts" button. However, it gives me an error saying that I am not signed in (see attachment "not signed in").
I am not able to click the Help menu option because the Find Font dialog window does not allow me to focus on the main window.
When I close the Find Font dialog, I check the help menu to discover that I am, in fact signed in! (see attachment "signed-in")
This is a terrible user experience to say the least.

"open file"
Illustrator won't open more than one file.
With version 23.0.1, Illustrator will permit to open only one single file. The first file can be opened by any method, any subsequent file can only be opened using "File/Open" command. Using Windows Explorer or Drag&Drop does not work! and will freeze Illustrator; ending the application is only possible using the Windows Task Manager.
I'm running Illustrator CC (23.0.1 64-bit) ond Windows 10 Enterprise (10.0.16299).THX for fixing this!

Freeform gradient becomes uneditable
Once applied, a freeform gradient is no longer editable. Ex. If I apply to a circle, and click off to work on something else, then come back to the circle, I can't edit it again. The circles don't appear, and I am hitting "Edit Gradient". Maybe Windows bug? When I watch tutorials on this, only need to select object and open freeform gradient tool to be able to edit gradients again.

lastest update crashes CONSTANTLY
Just updated to version 23.0 via CC panel and Illustrator won't run more than 2 minutes at a time without crashing. I can't keep it open long enough to determine if there's a specific trend or problem. Selecting any tool from any palette, or trying to move an object on the art board, or while typing... just locks up no matter what I do. VERY FRUSTRATING.
For what it's worth, I'm on Windows 10 with 32 gb of RAM running 64 bit version of Illustrator. Never crashed before the update.
