macOS13.6.7
Illustrator ver.28.6

Objects aligned with edge of artboard render as if overlapping
When aligning an object against the edge of an artboard, the program will render it as if overlapping the edge by a tiny amount, depending on zoom.
Extremely disruptive when when working, compounded by the snapping being unreliable (as per separate bug report).

Auto-snapping is unreliable
Snapping function is often unreliable, snapping to unintuitive objects (fx. an object on an offscreen artboard rather than one next to the object being moved)
Further - snapping allignment is unreliable, often claiming to snap to allign with an edge, but when placed being off by a tiny bit, scewing layouts.

SVG Save As 'SVG Code...' not same as marked up saved SVG. This now matches Export As SVG
The content saved when you Save As... SVG is different in 28.5 to 28.3. When you click SVG Code... the text file preview matches that of the old version. Example file header:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- Generator: Adobe Illustrator 28.5.0, SVG Export Plug-In . SVG Version: 9.03 Build 54727) -->
<svg version="1.1" id="Layer_1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" x="0px" y="0px"
viewBox="0 0 2255 692" style="enable-background:new 0 0 2255 692;" xml:space="preserve">
<style type="text/css">
.st0{fill:none;stroke:#000000;stroke-miterlimit:10;}
.st1{fill:#FFFFFF;stroke:#000000;stroke-miterlimit:10;}
</style>When you actually save this with OK it changes to :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<svg id="Layer_1" data-name="Layer 1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.1" viewBox="0 0 2255 692">

.cls-1 {…3 votesThis change is intentional. The team aims to improve the way SVG is generated (speed, size, redundancy, etc.) and merge current both code branches into one.
Since some workflows heavily rely on the way the code structure is organized, the team tries to gather feedback on it.
Please describe what engine changes affect you and why.

Menu selection of window stuck after clicking on "Font" without selecting further option
After selecting the menu item "window" → "Font" (without the sub-menu) the menu freezes. No further access to the program possible. After ending the program (OS - option, not program option) the window with the document disappeared (without asking for saving), the menu remained on screen (see screenshot). Only forced ending worked.

Renamed asset does not change link name in the cloud link
I dragged objects into the Library window to create a graphic asset in Illustrator and it's given a default name of "Artwork 1". I then renamed the file to "rename-test" and then dragged it into both an InDesign file and a blank illustrator file, and I noticed that the listed name says "rename-test" in the Libraries window in both apps, but the actual link name is still listed as "Artwork 1.ai". Why doesn't it show up as "rename-test.ai" in the Link window?

Dashed strokes in SVG are set to 0 when reopening in Ai, but are displayed correctly in the browser
1) Windows 11 / Windows 10 with Adobe Illustrator 28.4.1
2)
1. Open a new document
2. Draw a line with line tool
3. Set line to dashed with 10 5 1 5
4. Export file as SVG
5. Close file in Illustrator and reopen it in illustrator.
3) Expected result: Line still has dashing of 10 5 1 5 in Ai and in the browser
4) Actual result: Line has dashing of 0 0 0 0 0 0 in Ai, but looks correct in the browser3 votes -
SVG Export

Unwanted Artwork when placing a CC Library asset and when exporting as SVG
I remember voting and commenting on a UV report mentioning this with CC libraries, but cannot find it anymore.
Lately there have been 2 forum posts mentioning unexpected artwork added to an SVG export.
I suspect that the New Document Profile that they use contains the artwork, at least I can replicate that behaviour, but I have not seen that confirmed by the posters.
Add artwork to a new document profile and it will appear on assets export to SVG and when alt dragged from a CC Library.

Stroke arrowheads mislabeled
When changing the arrowheads on a stroke, the dropdown option images don't match the actual icon for the stroke arrowhead. It seems the the same arrowhead icon is previewing in the dropdown for multiple different selections. What you select is not what you get.

Filled area text boxes do not export to SVG (v. 28.4.1)
In the current 28.4.1 version, our files do not export to SVG correctly. You can easily reproduce this by creating any area text box and apply a fill to the box. The text will export, but not the filled box. We use this for all our our org charts and other graphics where we want the text to be easily centered in the boxes as the boxes get resized and moved.

Incorrect object size when exported to SVG - Illustrator v 28.4.1
The latest Illustrator v28.4.1 generates slightly different SVG code compared to its precursors.
Attached is the code generated by 28.3 and 28.4.1 of the same design.
Then the latest version of the SVG file is loaded to my laser software (Glowforge) the design ends up being much smaller than it is supposed to be, for comparison a 12 cm square will only end up being 9 cm square. The issue disappeared once Illustrator was reversed to version 28.3 and files were re-opened and re-saved.3 votesThe problem seems to be solved with Beta 28.6.
If you experience this problem still — please comment back.

Home Screen shows incorrect data at start of month
At the beginning of a month, the Home Screen reports inaccurate "last modified" dates on recently opened documents. For example, on 1st March, a document last opened on 28th February is reported as having been opened "1 month ago" instead of "1 day ago".

MacOS12.7.3, Adobe Illustrator28.3
3 votes -

Thin space and hair space have wrong widths, compared to InDesign
In Indesign a hair space is a twenty fourth of an em-dash independent of the font size.
In Illustrator a hair space depends on the font size.
6pt font -> hair space is a sixth of em-dash
10pt font -> hair space is a tenth of em-dash
20pt font -> hair space is a twentieth of em-dash
40pt font -> hair space is a fortieth of em-dash
in other words: a hair space in Illustrator is always 1ptIn Indesign a thin space is an eighth of an em-dash.
In Illustrator a thin space is a fifth of an em-dash.…

Dimensions new layer Do Not Print
Using the Dimensions tool on a layer designated as Do Not Print creates a new layer title Dimensions.
Example, I do all my dimensions, set the layer to Do Not Print. Later I realize I need to make an additional dimension. If I try to use the Dimension tool on the layer marked Do Not Print, it will create a new layer for new Dimensions.3 votes -
Info Palette incorrect on items using Clipping Mask
Objects with Clipping Masks show original width and height in Info Palette. Ex. a 10x10 square clipped to 2x2 will show as W: 10, H: 10 in Info.
In Properties/Transform the information is correct, i.e. W: 2, H: 2I typically don't like to see the whole Properties Panel nor need the editing abilities of Transform so I have the Info panel open. However, I would assume it would show the selected width and height vs. the clipped item's original size.
