Illustrator documents open to a red / black screen
Resizing the document window rectifies the issue, annoying nevertheless
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.

What is going on with Illustrator and GPU issues? I have a new MacBook Pro M2 running Ventura and Illustrator is unusable when the GPU is on. I tried resetting/replacing the preferences, problem remains.
The bug is back in 2020
When in separations preview and the box for overprint preview is checked off. The user interface changes to bright red. How do you remove it? Changing the color back to gray or any color under preferences, user interface does not work.
This issue has come back for me on Big Sur. Illustrator version 24.2.1
It was a mulitple screens issue for my coworker. She moved the file to her other screen, then back again and it fixed all documents in CC 2018

Latest version of illustrator and I still cannot open more than one document with GPU Performance turned on. If I turn it off, there are ZERO visual updates on the canvas, no matter what I do (pan/zoom, move things etc), until I turn GPU performance back on.
My Illustrator workflow is so painful. Please fix.

I have the latest version of Illustrator CC, 23.0.1, and GPU preview still DOES NOT work.
My system runs Windows 10 with i7-8700 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
GPU preview looks blurry, round shapes have dents in them, and moving objects often resulted in parts of the shapes and text staying in the same place. And thin lines or details won't even show. It is just horrible.
CPU preview is much better, but still has strange refresh issues sometimes. And using CPU preview makes me feel like Adobe slapped me in the face for wasting money on a nice video card for nothing.
Red screen on file open still happening, Illustrator Public release 22.1.
Requires a window-resize to display document properly. (I do not and will not use the "Application Frame")

It's been 4 months since the "we have fixed this bug" reply and yet there is no fix in the final release. FOUR MONTHS. Seems like Adobe just cares about getting our money.
Still stuffed and showing as a red screen! Please fix and make the Beta as the release ASAP! How long does it take?

I am switching to Affinity Designer. I've had it.

Ok, this red screen bug is driving me nuts. I understand you've fixed it in a pre-release build but that was 3 months ago and it's still not available in the standard release.
I appreciate that you can use the application frame to fix the issue but that is unworkable for me across a multi-screen environment, and having to cycle view modes every time I open an AI has long since passed becoming a joke. When you deal with incredibly complex AI files as I do, changing screen modes can sometimes take time even on a top spec machine. I am a graphics professional and this is a professional product for which I am paying a hefty monthly subscription. You are well aware of the issue so I do not understand how it has not been fixed as yet. Thank you.
with GPU-Rendering turned on the document-window is filled up with a pattern of coloured squares so that you're not able work (attachment 1). Doesn't matter if CMYK-mode or RGB-mode.
Turning off GPU-mode works (attachment 2).
For system preferences see attachment 3
Hit 'F' to change view and it fixes it. (hit it 3 times to get to the same view)

Same here. ***** screen. It seems to be a multiple screen issue. Same with different screens. Dragging the window to the MacBook and back solves it magically.
I refuse to use appframe, don‘t like it at all. So thats no workaround for me. Dragging windows to and fro is also a pain.
CC apps seems to have several serious display and redraw issues, using retina and non-retina displays at the same time. Disabling ‘displays have seperate spaces’ in the OSX Mission control prefs seems to make some issues a little better, but at the whole CC UI performance when used on different screens is appalling.
Off topic: panels and dialog boxes jump all over the place. I get confused not being able to do a task, while a dialog is preventing me from it, which is lurking in a corner of some other screen. It‘s a mess.
Just stick all dialogs in the center of the main screen. How hard can it be.
Please fix ASAP!

When I open a new document it appears garbled. I thought the program may have been corrupt so I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result. I changed the view to application frame and it fixed the view.

Same problem. Just encountered it today. Turning on Application Frame fixed the issue but I don't like working with Application Frame on. Waiting for a fix to this bug.

Preview on CPU vs GPU fixes issue for me. Macbook Pro 15, Sierra, Radeon Pro 460 4gb, Cinema Display.
So CMD+E is simple enough on document open… but inconvenient.
Same issue here. Turned Application Frame on and it restored order but posting so I can follow this thread for updates.
