1. Complete user-defined default settings

   The work I do for my company has certain defaults that go beyond the layout of my workspace. I only use one font, I always need the same set of color swatches, I use the same tolerance amounts, etc. I export to PDFs the same way every time, I essentially need the same options. (And even with a template, I have to start from scratch for many of these options.)

   While I can save certain usual elements in my CC Library, I waste so much time saving and opening and searching. AND even then, I still have to reset the default. - I have to open CC Library, select one of my font styles, one of my paragraph styles (hope that it will work across the board in this document), load my swatches panel, etc.

   Even showing print tiling and rulers are two extra steps I do EVERY single time, regardless of if I have opened from a template.

   I should be able to set default preferences program-wide to open every document (unless I choose to make those changes on an individual case) with my preferences selected. At very least, my font and color swatches if everything else is shooting for the moon.

2. Color themes scroll bar

   The Color Themes panel in Illustrator does not have a scroll bar. I am using a Wacom tablet, but the Color Themes panel does not scroll even when I have assigned the function "scroll" to its scroll bar. I can scroll in other applications, both Adobe and others, so it doesn't seem like the fault of the tablet or tablet driver. The fact that there is no scroll bar in the default UI so it can be used with any input device is a glaring oversight. The panel is nearly useless without one.

3. Simplify the Color Panels

   Why are there so many different panels in Illustrator for working with colors? The color-making panels in InDesign are so much simpler than Illustrator. It's super cumbersome and reminds me of trying to design something in MS Word. Simplify please. Make it like InDesign.

4. Sort content in links palette + User controlled preflight warnings

   Added sorting ability in links palette would be very useful.
   Allowing me to sort by file size, alpha, date placed, date altered. Similar to finder or windows explorer. Allowing me to rearrange the columns to suit my needs.

   A preflight indicator of any potential conflicts would be a nice add as well.
   CMYK doc with an RGB image placed. Unused nodes swatches, does this doc contain any overprint items, that kind of thing. In a perfect world I could set in prefs what I want warnings for.

5. Add a new API to delete the swatch

   There is a problem with global gradient swatches, described at https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/908050/suggestions/44461230

   Illustrator applies changes to all copies of a gradient in a document when this gradient is changed via a script. It makes sense from a practical point of view, but is devastating for scripts in general.

   We can’t duplicate gradients with a script properly, like we can do with any other swatch, because when it's done, the gradient swatch get forcibly added to Swatches and then corrupt the art which uses them when deleted... and it does not break this global link anyway.

   At the moment we copy a gradient into the swatch, it will be associated with the first object. If we repaint the swatch to use it for another object, the first object will change its fill momentarily.    So we 'instance' gradients instead of 'duplicating' them.
   Creating a new gradient via script also creates a new swatch. Deleting either the new gradient or the new swatch also deletes the other. If the need is to get rid of the swatch but not the gradient, that doesn’t look to be possible via with the current APIs. Perhaps we need a new API to delete just the swatch and not the associated global (gradient, pattern etc.).

   Having this will allow us to keep gradient changes on one object from affecting other objects. To duplicate, a new gradient will be created and a copy of all gradient properties (type, number of stops, stops) will be performed, via existing app.activeDocument.gradients.add()
   Then we will be able to delete the swatch with a new API without crashing Illustrator.

6. The Ability to Compound by Color

   Take an object or line of text that has been converted to outlines, put an offset path on it, make that new outline a different color than the original object. Now the requested feature would be the ability to drag select the entire object and offset path, then select "Compound By Color" and it will make all colors selected into their own compound path.

7. please make Illustrator remember user workflow - for example "export as" settings

   please make Illustrator remember user workflow: i export hundred times jpgs for client preview, and each time i have to manually change CMYK setting to rgb, click color profile, etc....hundred times a day, each day...

8. Customize Application Menus with COLOR in Illustrator

   Help! I love that Photoshop gives us the tools to change the way our toolbars look by highlighting the text in the columns with beautiful colors to the ones we use the most. I have yet to find this in Illustrator and I'm pouting; my memory depends on color coded hints... because that's what they taught me in kindergarten.
   I added an image with screen shots for my artsy comrades as we are all visual beings. I'm going to wait in my happy place until I hear from you. Thank you in advance.

9. Separations Preview Panel has the same layout as Swatch Panel

   When using Separations Preview it would be very beneficial to have the colour list arranged in the same order, format and groups as the Swatches Panel.

   This could allow grouped colours to be turned on or off in groups and matching the list order would make the whole thing more logical.

10. Option to export to clipping mask boundaries

    When exporting assets to raster formats, it would be a huge time saver if we had an option to use the boundaries of clipping masks as the edge of the exported artwork. I created three triangles and used a circle as a clipping mask in the attached image. You can see that the exported file has a lot of padding around the artwork because the outer edges of the triangles are used as the boundaries of the file.

    If there was an additional option to use the clipping mask boundary as the edge of the exported raster file, it would mean that I wouldn’t have to open every exported file in Photoshop to then crop to the edges of the artwork and re-save the file.

    When exporting assets to raster formats, it would be a huge time saver if we had an option to use the boundaries of clipping masks as the edge of the exported artwork. 11. 'Use preview bounds' option for symbols

    AI allows to 'Use preview bounds' — to count in stroke's weight in artwork's size.
    I rarely use it, but I can always turn it off, like I do in screencast attached.

    But when I decide to turn my artwork to symbol, I'm limited to only one option — stroke is counted in ALWAYS. This is very inconvenient for some design tasks.

    I would like to have an option anywhere to change this behavior.

14. Make Document Color Mode menu available to set up as an action

    Make Document Color Mode a recordable action. I have to edit lots of files and they all have to be CMYK. If I forget one, it will look horrible on our website and we might never notice it. It would help a lot if color mode could be set up as an action.

    You can insert the 'Document Color Mode: CMYK' command into an action using the 'Insert Menu Item' from the Actions panel’s flyout menu

15. An option to Remove Share Button completely

    Glad you can take the blue color off the Share button (based on this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44391642)
    Would LOVE to have the option of taking the share button off altogether.

16. Reveal in Finder / Explorer option for document tabs

    Reveal in Finder Option - Currently reveal in finder you "command + click" file name at top of window, however this option is not availble when window is tied to the application frame.

17. Ability to change the color of individual guidelines

    I use templates with several close guides. When zoomed in its sometimes difficult to tell which guide I'm at. If the Make Guides selection could have an additional drop down with a choice of 3 or 4 colors, if would help prevent mistakes.

18. Stop the "Color" sidebar window from auto opening no matter what.

    Stop the "Color" sidebar window from auto opening no matter what. I do not use the "color" tab ever. I know others might, but making it always auto open drives me bananas. Can it be open only if chosen, instead of no matter what?

19. Syncable Color Swatch/Palette Library

    it would be nice to have one library with different categories.. you update it once and see it in every illustrator file!
    this would be very useful for personal use but also in teams, somewhat like a kuler for illustrator.

20. Files should remember proof setup

    Every time I open my files I'm having to force Illustrator back to proof as Monitor RGB. It keeps defaulting to Working CMYK which is no use on an RGB file.

    It would be great if files retained proof settings.
