1. Can’t save over network or on a desktop

   We are still having save file issues. Illustrator will not save the file over a network or even at time to the desktop. Also please do say "this is not a generic issue" looking at all the posts below with the same problem it surely is.

   And please can we get moving on this. There seems a real lack of effort to fix these things. Whenever I read these posts you guys are always saying you have fixed the problem but the posts show that you have not, or you made the error occur again in another update. Very disappointed with the tech support effort and Adobe.

3. Image Trace, Saving files, Swatch panel

   Running AI 2020, v 24.0.3 on Mac High Sierra v 10.13.6

   • Save & Save As commands are not working at all. Commands are there, seems like they work (able to click, asks for file name, location, etc), but file never appears/saves. Have tried saving as new file types, names, etc, but nothing works.

   • Image Trace, same issue. Button is there and I click on it but nothing happens.

   • Swatch panel has disappeared completely. Searched "Swatch" in illustrator help search bar says "no results found". "Swatches" not under windows menu. Have loaded different workspaces, none have it.

   Have quit and restarted computer, issues remain. Reset preferences when starting illustrator, also does not help.

4. Mac OS Wacom brush lag

   UPDATE: I kept researching and found on another support blog to try hiding the rulers and right away my brush quit lagging by at least 85-90% improvement. Actions taken: View > Rulers > Hide Rulers. Weird, but it worked for me. I hope this helps anyone else with this issue. Ideally, we'd like to have this fixed so that rules can stay open, but nice to have a quick fix too.

   ORIGINAL PROBLEM:
   I'm on a MacOS Catalina (most recent Mac upgrade). I'm using a Wacom Tablet (up-to-date drivers) and the subscription version of Adobe Illustrator. My brush is lagging so badly that it's impossible to draw correctly and in real-time. This is only happening in Adobe Illustrator and it is up-to-date. I've tested Adobe Photoshop using my Wacom Pen and brush tool and it works fine. So I've definitely ruled out that it's my Wacom driver and/or pen.

   I should add that before I updated my Mac I was using the CS6 box version. But after updating my Mac I was forced to purchase the subscription based programs because this killed the CS6 boxed version. Prior to all of this, my brushes/pen tool was working smoothing and not lagging. In other words, never had this problem before. I've tried looking through troubleshooting ideas and nothing is working. Please advise, this is my work tool and I need my brush and pen to work properly.

6. Straight lines don’t allow to add points to their centers / middles

   So, I created a square, changed the line brush with something else, and then cut the 4 corners with scissor tool. Then, if I select the add anchor point tool, and click in the EXACT MIDDLE of the newly created line (which I cut from the square), it will not allow me to do so. It's just saying you only can add anchor point on the path line.

   Please help me Adobe...

   This is fixed in the latest Beta Build 29.5.0.15 — now straight lines allow to add a point at the center positions. Please check if this now behaves as expected and comment back.

   However, the team didn’t make it into the snapping feature requested in comments — to be able to snap to middles of any segment, curved or straight. If you need one, please upvote this split request.

7. Creating new paragraph or character style does not honor selected text

   https://helpx.adobe.com/au/illustrator/using/character-paragraph-styles.html

   ^ That page states you can select text, and click the new paragraph or character style button to create a new style that uses the selected text as a base. This does not work at all, it just creates a new style with Myriad and default settings.

8. Layers are messed up, live text broken up

   File was last edited on Dec 23, 2019 - saved in illustrator 2020 .ai and .pdf formats. There were grouped layers, and live text layers.

   When I opened it today, my layer groups are all gone, and my live text has been broken up into separate layers (some mid-word).

9. 3D extrude and bevel effect breaks on large paths

   Windows 10 64 Bit, AI 23.1 .I've observed this bug all previous versions, and on multiple computers.

   Add a 3D effect (eg. Extrude and Bevel) to a path and increase the scale... it always breaks past a certain size. The theshold increases with the extrude depth, so deep objects can be larger while flat objects (ie. no extrude depth) break at a relatively small size. Check out the attached image.

   It's an extremely useful effect... clearly it would be a whole lot better if it could still be used at larger scales!

10. Lock/unlock guides shortcut not working

    The standard Lock/Unlock guides keyboard shortcut doesn't seem to be working on Illustrator CC 2020 on MacOS.

11. Scroll on hover over unselected tools or library panels not working in 2020 release.

    Prior to the 2020 release of Illustrator, when I was working in a document (with my various tools panels and CC Library panel docked to the side of the page) I could have my artboard/artwork selected and hover my mouse over a tools pane or library and scroll to see my options (without clicking to select that pane.) Now it doesn't seem to work anymore. I have to click on whichever tools pane or the library pane to activate it before I can begin scrolling through the options. It may not seem like much of a bug, but it actually has a significant impact on the speed at which I'm able to navigate the app while I'm working.

    Please fix. :(

12. Illustrator v24 constantly crashes when I try to open a document

    The update for the Illustrator 2020 version uploaded and it never opens, it freezes up with a white screen and says not responding. Now my 2019 version is doing the same thing and tells me I don't have enough memory.
    I have tried to uninstall all CC apps and reinstall, I have also tried the CC cleaner, no luck.

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz
    2.5 GHz
    16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
    64-bit operating system

    I am also having similar issues on my Surface Pro 64-bit

    I am unable to work on current projects at work, I need help!

13. Unable to export asset

    I am unable to collect and export an asset as I used to in the previous version of Illustrator. Please see the attached screen shot. I select the group in the layers panel, then I click on Object > Collect For Export > As Single Asset, then I choose 600dpi or 300dpi and I get the pop up error in the attached screenshot. Previously, I was able to do this successfully without issue.

14. Stroke displaying incorrectly and Offset Path broken

    In the first screenshot i show where i have duplicated an outlined letter R and rotated and it is rendering the stroke differently on both.
    I have also had issues with using offset instead where the stroke is broken on some letters even though the path is closed, see other screenshot (Q).

15. Pathfinder Incorrect Work

    I have a problem with Pathfinder in new Illustrator version 24 (2020) (macOS 10.15.1). Please look at the image attached. Pathfinder doesn't cut a compound shape out of a path or another compound shape. It merges the two instead.
    It worked fine in the previous version of Illustrator.

16. Can't select multiple anchor points with direct selection tool

    The Direct Selection Tool does not select anchor points. When the DS tool hovers over object, the outline appears, but no anchor points appear. Neither can be selected and activated. When DS tool hovers over an anchor point, I can move that one point only. DS tool behaves exactly same as Anchor Point Tool. I cannot select several anchor points at once, and move / align / delete / distribute / join them. Win 10.1903 AI 24.0

    As per the comment, this can happen due to the accidentally hiding the edges with Cmd/Ctrl + H hotkey (View > Show/Hide Edges).

    Please check if this helps and comment back if it does not.

17. Illistrator 2020 saving issues

    Every time I try to save a file
    The file does not save, fails to save it completely (not all changes are saved) or it simply deletes the .ai, even when it was previously saved. Each time I save it creates a hidden file.

    I have an iMac wit catalina version 10.15.1

19. Missing font doesn't show up

    Hi

    When I open a document with missing fonts, the texts which without fonts will disappear and they aren't being white! I cannot even see them. It is really causing my problem....

    Is it a bug or I can adjust the setting to fix it?

20. Can't save illustration .278

    Cannot save any file, whether it is .ai or any other format. cannot export any format either. Keep getting error that says "Can't save the illustration. .278"
