  1. command Z, Blocks Reediting an object

    If I edit an object or shape like adding or deleting a point and do not like it, I usually undo it with command Z. Once I use command Z the shape I was editing is blocked from being re-edited.
    I sometimes have to copy the shape and paste in order for me to add the points in different location again on the shape.
    Is there any reason why this is happening?

  2. network printer HP 8730 Pro

    With the newest version of Illustrator (is it 24) there comes a lot of trouble for users with HP printer - maybe all printer which are connecting over the local network. The issue is that Illustrator can´t open any ai file nore make a new files while the default printer is a network printer. Here it is the HP 8730 Pro. With the help of the support desk there is a workaround to fix this issue. You have to set your default printer to Adobe pdf. But this is not a real solution, it´s only a temporarely workaround.   3. File > Place svg: altered shapes

    In Illustrator v24.0, File>Place of some svg images distorts the shapes. It works OK if I open the svg file directly in Illustrator v24.0, select the layer and paste it on my artboard (in another open file). It also works OK if I do File>Place in Illustrator v23.1.1.

    The "attach a file" option here won't let me attach an svg (why not?) so I've attached an AI file instead. Hopefully if you export it to svg you can see the problems when importing that svg via File > Place. Some of the problem are: the "m" shape is missing a…

  5. Version 24.02 creates random lines and shapes which appear and disappear when scrolling or grouping, consistently crashes upon opening

    Lines and shapes will appear on the shapes I have created, but can't be selected. When grouped or ungrouped with something else, the shape and line disappear, but randomly appear when scrolling. I operate on a Windows laptop

  6. A few menu oddities on 24.0

  7. Action bug

    Illustrator 2020 doesn't allow my action to work. I created an action that runs a script from the script menu, but cannot use nor record a new action that runs a script.

  8. Opening screen

    Illustrator 24.1
    macOS, Catalina, 10.15.3

    When opening Illustrator I'm presented with the home/opening screen which shows (in my case) latest files used. But regardless of how big I make that screen it never shows coreectly all the thumbs (some of them are cut-off) and there are no scrollbars to either scroll down or to theright to see everything. Would be nice if that is designed in a responsive way.

  9. Alternative glyph (made with Fontself 3.5) don’t shown in text, when not installed in OSX or restart AI

    I have a problem testing a new font. I create a font (Fonstelf 3.5.0) with character “a” and an alternative “a.alt” glyphs. I installed the new font just local for/in Adobe Illustrator CC 2020. In the window “Glyphes” I can see my alternative characters. But when I enter a text with the text tool, I only get “a” instead of “a.alt” which I selected in window “Glyphes”. I save my test.ai document.

  10. "operation cannot be completed for unknown reason [!now]" when outputting large png

    Trying to export as png, art size is 80cm x 80cm, trying to save anything greater than 800ppi results in "operation cannot be completed..."

    Operation is successful at anything up to 800ppi - file size at 800ppi is 120.9 MB.

  11. Selection Tool Bugging Out In Catalina

    In addition to the Save/Save As issues as described in previous posts, I've also noticed that the selection tool randomly quits working. Specifically, the bounding box disappears and you can't reinitialize it and you certainly can't scale or select. Need to do a full restart of the app to correct.

  12. "Save A Copy" Action major issue

    When recording a "Save A Copy" action, it won't let us choose a folder. Rather we are forced to choose a filename. So when we ever use this Action, all of our files are saved and overwritten as the same filename.

    Please let us choose a folder like the "Save As" action.

  13. Illustrator's fonts are not displaying

    When I type something, the character panel does not show any fonts as an option. I have tried the dropdown menu to no avail. I found a work around a couple days ago but cannot remember what it was!

  14. Fix Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 Type Library Reference - VB scripts return error

    Illustrator CC 2019 Type Library is broken when attempting to Reference from Visual Studio.

    VB.Net or C# projects attempt to add the reference from: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2019\Plug-ins\Extensions\Scripting Support.aip, and give the attached error.

    My idea, is for Adobe to fix it!

    Older versions work fine.

  16. Adobe Illustrator point location does not move when changing Y coordinates value by a hundredth.

    Adobe Illustrator 2020 24.0.1 on Windows 10 x64 Version 10.0.18362

    After giving an object a stroke of 5 and attempting to move a point in the bottom left corner, I discovered that it was not being consistent when being changed in the hundredths. When changing it, it appears to be the same as whatever position it was before. I expected the Y value 483.61 to put the location of the point somewhere in between the coordinates 483.6 and 483.611, but this is not the case.

  17. Color Swatches added to a Library disappear at random or don’t get added

    Color swatches have disappeared at random. I try adding new color swatches by a USER defined library, and it's adding only patterns, no colors.

  18. AI displays the START SCREEN on opening the file and the document view do not switches (refreshes) the file content.

    v 22.1

    When trying to open an existing file while Illustrator is closed, the software will lag and then hang on the opening screen. The file appears to be opened in the background, but there's no way to access or see it. The opening screen will give options to open additional files or create a new one (as usual) but when trying to do either, nothing will open and no New File Options menu will appear.

    Everything will work normally only if I open Illustrator first and then the file.

    Thank you all for reporting this issue and providing us your valuable feedback.

    What we have found out so far is that this issue can happen in multiple workflows. For clear tracking, validation and closure. We will closing this thread for given below two scenarios which we believe are fixed now:

    1)Double click any Ai file to launch Illustrator
    2)Placing files in Illustrator via Bridge.

  19. Some files are gray in MacOS 10.15.1 open/place dialogs

    When accessing the open/place dialog on MacOS 10.15.1, some file names are gray while others are the normal black. They are still selectable, but gray. It looks like you can't select them, though. Disconcerting.
