1. unwanted layer merge

   Computer 1 creates a file with 4 layers (Print, reg marks, thru-cut, crease)
   Computer 2 opens file and all layers have been merged onto 1 single layer. In fact the other layers don't even exist anymore. Also everything in the merged layer has a clipping mask over it?
   Yet when computer 1 opens the file again all the layers are still there.

   Same versions of illustrator on computers 1 & 2.

3. AI2023 can't open the PDF files exported from Packmage

   Hello, I have been using Packmage CAD to generate PDF vector graphics (which only contain vector information, including layer information from AI files), and have always been able to open and edit them in AI, even in Illustrator v26.5.3. However, the latest version of Illustrator 2023 is giving me an error. Could you please help me fix AI2023 or make it compatible with the old version of PDF?

4. A size of a selection with a certain object inside is calculated wrong

   Take a look at the GIF attached and the document.
   When the text object is selected, Illustrator fails to calculate the size and coordinates of the selection and uses the previous values.

   1. Open the file and display both Transform and Control panel (I don’t know if Properties panel does the same, because it’s just completely empty for me — another bug)
   2. Select the object with numbers — both panels display all zeroes (but Control has editable fields, while Transform have them disabled)
   3. Select any of two rectangles the document — panels display correct size (150×450 mm) and proper coordinates
   4. Select text object again — Ai displays the size and coordinates of the rectangle instead of the numbers’ values
   5. Select both the numbers and the rectangle — again, when the text is included in the selection, Ai display the previous values

   The object is a compound shape, made of a live text, with a Drop Shadow effect applied. If you hide or remove the effect — values get calculated fine.

   If you release the compound shape and reapply the drop shadow — the bug vanishes — values get calculated fine.

   The purpose of the compound shape (which one can create with the native Pathfinder > Make Compound Shape command, from the flyout menu) is to get a proper result with the 'bronze+shadow' graphic style you can check in Graphic Styles. If a text is not converted into a compound shape before applying it, Illustrator applies it only for the first character, because it treats any text as a 'group' of characters, instead of a single compound path / shape.

   Reproducible on Windows for 26.5.1 and 27.1.1

5. Opentype-SVG no longer rendered correctly in 2023

   I have some Opentype-SVG fonts that render correctly in MacOS with Pages/Number/Keynote, MS Word/Excel/Powerpoint, in Chrome, and LibreOffice (Mac/Linux). That's several font rendering engines.

   In Illustrator 2023, however, they were rendered stretched horizontally (as if the SVG occupy the full space ignoring side-bearings). The spacing issues is even worse for SVG glyphs with standard ligatures --- the SVG occupies only the space of one character.

   I have used OT-SVG fonts in Illustrator before, and I don't recall seeing strange behaviour like this. Could this please be fixed?

6. Changing file name while file is open provides no contextual response in cloud.

   Windows 11 Pro
   22H2 - Build: 22621.1992
   Experience Pack: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22644.1000.0

   Illustrator V. 27.7

   While In illustrator I realised I saved two iterations of the same name (I had intended to overwrite the previous cloud saved file but instead if added (1) to the name.

   In the home area I clicked my files and proceeded to change the name, hitting enter did nothing, hitting the enter on the d-pad did nothing. Clicking away did nothing. I had an epiphany and realised it was because I had the file open i couldn't change the name.

   However, this didn't provide an error or warning, it simply wouldn't do it.

   Not a serious bug, but some users may get frustrated by this and not realise the error, I would suggest a little pop up telling them the file is open and so cannot be renamed.

9. Illustrator turning all PNGs into negatives (with or without yellow background) after saving and reopening document

   I'm on Windows 10 pro, version 21H1. The version of illustrator I have is 26.3.1.
   When working on a document, CMYK or RGB, in illustrator with my Adobe color settings synced across all programs, all PNGs whether 16 bit or 8 bit turn negative. I've attached before and after screenshots.

   I've never had this happen before and I work with PNGs everyday, I spoke to and adobe support rep yesterday and gave them an AI filer where I tested PNGs vs JPEGs out. JPEGs are totally fine, only issue is with placing PNGs and I rather place a PNG than put in a huge transparent photoshop image.

   It happens to all PNGs, even the ones I've made via exporting a vector image as a PNG.

11. Window and panels moving when Mac goes to sleep

    There is an issue with Adobe apps while using Mac M1 with an external monitor. When put in sleep, the windows and palettes move to the bottom half of the screen.

    There are comments on this thread that confirm

12. Find/Replace Fonts hangs/spins/beach balls when try to replace with system font

    Find/Replace Fonts hangs/spins/beach balls when trying to replace missing font with system font. This also happens when trying to viewing any of the local system fonts. Can only force quit Illustrator and cannot replace the missing font. If you open the NHS Spring VG 2023 Quarter Page Ad.pdf file in Illustrator and try to substitute the font with the Adobe Font GarageGothic it is not possible. - macOS Monterey Version 12.5.1 Apple M1 chip with Adobe Illustrator 2023 version 27..1.1

13. PNG import broken

    Illustrator 25.4.8. (on macOS 10.14.6) can't import PNG files any more. For PNG files that have already been placed in previous versions, Illustrator reports a broken link and doesn't allow to relink. (PNG import worked fine in the previous version of Illustrator.)

    If this issue still happens for you, please share a PNG image that Ai fail to place. You can do this directly in the comment or send it over to sharewithai@adobe.com if you are not allowed to share it publicly.

    There is a separate report on failing specifically with 1-bit PNGs you can upvote also, if it’s your case.

14. Using Color Guide causes Illustrator to crash

15. All menu item shortcuts are grayed out

    Illustrator 2023, v27.7
    MacOS Ventura 13.2.1
    Wacom intuos pro
    Apple Magic Mouse

    at some point, all the shortcut menu items became grayed out...I can USE the actual shortcuts like CTRL+X and CTRL+V
    i can select the commands in the menu and get them to work...but it's weird... not sure if it is associated with other weird behaviors like not being able to select and move an object?

16. The layers of my project have disappeared

    The fact is that I was working and when performing an action, all the layers of my workbench were deleted. Neither cntl + Z, nor file recovery, nor the files in data to recover a past version help me.

18. Illustrator 27 packaging bug

    Package command destroys filenames and replaces links with others. That's catastrophic for my job. Please fix it as soon as possible.
    Also, could not upload files for helping you reproduce the issue.

    MacOS10.15.7　IllustratorCC ver.26.4.1

    オブジェクトは複製されますが、ヒストリーパネル上では「取り消し」となります。

    再現手順:
    1. ダイレクト選択ツールを選び、アートボード上のオブジェクトを選択
    2. キーボードのリターンキーを押し移動ダイアログを開く
    3. コピーボタンをクリックする
    4. ヒストリーパネル上では「取り消し」と表示されるがオブジェクトは正常にコピーされる

    実際の結果:
    ヒストリーパネル上で「取り消し」と表示

    期待された結果:
    「コピー」と表示される

    回避方法:
    ありません。

    その他…
    ・編集→カラーを編集
    ・リピートオブジェクトの編集処理
    ・グラデーションツールによる処理
    ・ブレンドツールをダブルクリックしてブレンドオプションダイアログを開き変更を適用する

    これらも「取り消し」と表示されます。

    ツールバー下部、塗と線に下にある塗り、グラーデーション、塗りなしのパッチをドロップして「塗」「線」を設定しようとするとヒストリーパネルでは「取り消し」になります。

    段落パネルの多くの機能（インデント・段落前後あき以外）とOpenTypeパネルは項目が二重に追加されたりします。
    全般的にヒストリーパネルの表示はおかしいです。

20. Tool bar and windows not visible on start up

    Illustrator doesn't show any toolbars/widows when it is starting up. Also, it's not possible to create a new document.
