  2. Unchecking "print as bitmap" does not work

    Basic shape artwork is printing jagged/pixelated edges. Unchecking "print as bitmap" does nothing, as the print summary still shows print as bitmap as "on". Tried setting print to 2400dpi, but lines still jagged.

    Save as PDF and print with Acrobat results in beautiful smooth lines

    Illustrator 25.0.1 on Mac OS 10.14.6

  3. Illustrator 2021 - Restart Illustrator to auto-recover files doesn't work

    Illustration 2021 25.0.1 version constantly crashing.

    On restarting Illustrator app auto-recovery process doesn't work - It doesn't open up the unsaved files with the Recovered suffix as on previous versions.

  4. Merge button in Pathfinder panel works incorrectly

    Merge button in Pathfinder now works the same as Trim. It cuts out invisible parts of objects but leaves them separated. Merge should unite shapes with same color. This is one of most used operations when creating logos and it is now broken. Sad.

    Merge effect however works correctly, so current workaround is to group objects together, apply Effect > Pathfinder > Merge, then use Object > Expand Appearance.

    Steps to reproduce:
    Create two red and one blue rectangle. All without stroke.
    Position them so they slightly overlap each other.
    Open Pathfinder panel, click Merge (3rd icon at the bottom…

  8. Art Recolor crashes Illustrator

    Using a new MBP 13" M1, and attempting to re-color artwork causes the spinning beach ball which never goes away. Illustrator remains open and non-responsive, and the only resolution is a hard reboot via the power button or command line (force quit doesn't work). Yikes!

  10. Illustrator 2021

    I have a 2015 macbook pro Catalina OS ver 10.15.7, 8 Gb 1867 MHz DDR3 with over 100 Gb free and an intel iris Graphics 6100 1536 graphics card
    This computer was powerful enough to run the previous version of illustrator. However, with the new version (2021) there has been a significant slowdown to the point where even copy pasting a simple design takes a minute to do. It is slow and the lag is insufferable. Is there anyway down grading can become available or an option? Or is there something I can do to improve the performance of illustrator…

  12. MacOS 10.14.6 PDF

    When saving using an existing PDF preset the crop marks offset values have been changed from .25 to .025. And the bleed values have changed from .5 to .05. See screen capture.

  14. Align to pixel grid not working

    I'll have a shape like a rectangle that is, for example, 84px x 118.9999px (according to every panel with those dimensions). If I click "align to pixel grid," nothing happens. The expected behavior is for the 118.9999px height to become 119px. I run into similar issues with X and Y coordinates as well as W and H dimensions.

  15. Freeform gradient error with fill swatch on deselection

    Windows 10 Pro 1909 on Illustrator 25.0.1

    Deselecting an object with a Freeform gradient applied causes the fill swatch to show a question mark. If an object is then drawn with that question mark in the fill, Illustrator reports the following error:

    "Can't finish previewing. Could not complete the requested operation."

    Here are the steps to recreate:

    1. Draw rectangle with a fill but no stroke applied
    2. Fill with any 4 point freeform gradient
    3. Click away from rectangle
    4. Observe the fill swatch now has a question mark
    5. Draw another rectangle
    6. Error message appears.

    Incidentally. the appearance panel shows nothing applied to…

  16. Cannot select type baseline with text tool when snap to grid is active.

    Is there an option I'm missing here with the newer versions of Illustrator? I have to key command the grid on and off constantly just to highlight small captions or type.

  19. Rotation is too sensitive. I cannot use transform options.

    Rotation was too insensitive in the previous version.
    Rotation is too sensitive in this version. It is prioritizing it over everything else too much.

  20. Scale tool slowing down and not responding correctly

    I am not happy with the 2020 separate Scale tool. I am still getting used to the fact that I have to switch between tools but that is bearable. But the fact that this tool goes crazy makes me want to throw my laptop to the wall. It is way too sensitive to the move of my drawing pen and scales in an undesired direction. Usually, after I lift the pen but still hold the Shift for a second longer, the image/object totally distorts and going steps back lags and stops my work as I have to wait for Illustrator…
