1. Toolbar missing on right hand side

   My toolbar on the right hand side is missing. The drop down window at the top is also not working, it is stuck on Typography. I can't choose Essentials or reset.
   I've got and updated the latest version 24.2.3
   Windows computer.

2. Smart Guide glitch

   I am making icons in Illustrator.
   - Created a 1000px x 1000px file.
   - Set horizontal & vertical guides at midpoints - 500px, so the intersection is accurate centre of the document.
   - Using the pen tool, I hover to get the smart guide to snap to guide. BUT!!!! It snaps at position 500.5px not 500.0p.x Both horizontal & vertical are affected.

   The picture shows the "smart guides" assisting at the wrong point. The cursor vanished for the screenshot, but is hovering on "intersect".

   I reset Illustrator settings & started a new file with no other items. Illustrator V 24.3. Mac OS 10.15.6.

4. Illustrator (24.3) Slow lagging, AI and EPS files issues, non responsive

   macOS Mojave (10.14.6)

   Working on large scale signage graphics - have completing almost exactly the same thing for previous jobs with no issue. 24AUG20 AI auto updated and instantly could not move graphics in file - constant spinning wheel and slow loading times.

   Saving file was extremely slow - ceasing to save from 80-90% and then crashing (crash report sent). The only way to continue working was to save as EPS.

   Also attempted saving graphic elements out as EPS files to place into INDD where EPS was pixilated (fully or partially). PDF exported from INDD unable to save correctly with pixilation as well as slow response in InDesign.

   Graphics elements only 1mb each - also attempted simplifying vector to create smaller file for graphic elements and therefore better performance - this helped but still not the result required.

   Cannot preview in finder like usual.

   Colleague tried the same processes with same results.

5. "Save a Copy" retains the first file name of first save and add's multiple "copy"

   event after multiple "Save as" with different file names Illustrator will "Save a Copy" with a name of a first save and add's bunch of "copy". After several saves file looks like this "Business Card 1 copy copy copy copy copy copy copy" even after "Saving as" and working in a file named "Business Card 7"

6. Embedded Grayscale image in RGB document becomes transparent in PDF

   Embed a grayscale image in an RGB document.
   Save as PDF with the Default options.
   The image becomes transparent.
   In a CMYK document embedded greyscale images become lighter.

7. Save for Displays: SVG export is extremly slow on Windows

   I do have a file with around 100 artboards with simple icons that need to be exported to SVG.

   This process is extremly slow on Windows on a decent machine. Every SVG takes about 3sec to save. CPU usage shown AI is running only on Core #2. The same file exports in seconds on my 8 years old Mac.

8. Bug with end of line - Convert selected anchor point to smooth

   When you have a line in illustrator where you:

   Select using the direct selection tool (A)
   Convert the point to smooth using (B)
   And get the fabulus result (C).
   BUT you also end up with point D where the alignment of the line is always vertical.

9. illustrator is unable to save this file

   I can't save or copy duplicate a copy of the file. Need to save second time attempt then there's PDF file stated... please help!

10. Cant Resize without restarting

    When you use the selection tool on any object with the boundary box showing, sometimes you have to restart illustrator to get it so select the corner to resize.

11. Select > Object > All Text Objects incorrectly selects hidden/locked grouped text

    Windows 10
    Illustrator 24.2.3 (64-bit)

    Select > Object > All Text Objects incorrectly selects hidden/locked grouped text.

    This causes two issues:
    1. hidden/locked groups of text shouldn't be selected at all by this command. (It won't actually select a hidden group of text if the TextFrame(s) inside the group are also explicitly hidden individually).
    2. In a case where everything is unhidden/unlocked, this command selects the GROUP of TextFrames, not the TextFrames directly. This command will actually correctly select TextFrames in a group directly if there is another type of object sharing the group, like a pathItem, for some strange reason. But if a group is solely comprised of TextFrames then the group itself will be selected incorrectly instead of the TextFrames every time.

    This is an immensely difficult and annoying problem to try to work around, especially in ExtendScript as it is difficult to make sure any sneaky GroupItem objects didn't make it into the selection.

12. Can't drag and drop an image from a folder on canvas

    I can not drag photo from my PC folder to Illustrator. Dragging is done only on the folder page. I can not continue dragging on illustrator. Can anybody help me find the way? Thanks.

15. Save not working

    I am beyond frustrated! fix your freaking save function!!!!!!!!!!

    Working at a professional shop where time is a high priority I don't need to spend 5 minutes making changes only to find out in the RIP that the changes didn't work and I have to go back several times over making the same changes again and again!

    If I could throw this POS software in the ocean I WOULD

16. Saving, Opening, & creating files Not Responsive with Unstable Internet Connection

    Illustrator saving, creating files, and opening files seems to be tied to an internet connection, and it really fails if the connection isn't strong/stable. And this was only an issue with Illustrator (found with 24.2.3 & 24.2.0) with Photoshop and Indesign continued to function normally.

    For two weeks I began experiencing very slow saving, it being "not responsive" for about 10 minutes to save any file. I eventually found it was tied to my internet connection. I recently switched my home network to data from a mobile hotspot which works find but isn't always stable. So the saving issue wasn't happening all the time, but most of the time.

    I eventually found that if I disabled my internet connection these operations, Saving, Opening, & creating files, began working normally again.

17. Scatter Brush doesn't align smoothly to curve

    Hi, I'm using Illustrator 24.2.3 on an Imac late 2015.

    Scatter Brush seems to have issues with curves. If I create a scatter brush from a single object, the line seems to follow the curve loosely in straight line segments, creating a very jagged effect. I've attached images to hopefully clarify. The thinner "smaller brush element" examples I have included are made from a small circle shape a little less than one pixel in diameter. The "jagged" issue seems to disappear, however, if the curve is large enough (see the 11-inch small-brush-circle below) OR until the stroke weight increases to something over 6pt. (at which width this specific brush no longer serves its intended purpose). At the suggestion of a very helpful commenter, I tried making a larger brush element to begin with (a dot of almost half an inch diameter, about 32 pixels), and that seemed to solve the problem at first. But once I brought the point size of the brush down closer to the width I needed, the problem arises again. Hopefully that all makes sense! I would be happy to give more clarification, examples, videos, etc if needed. Thanks!

18. Blinking Cursor absent in Artboard panel

19. Info Panel doesn't scale down horizontally on Mac OS. Windows version scales fine. (MacOS 10.15.5)

    Tried several 5k iMacs to double check this wasn't a fluke, can't scale the Info Panel down on either one, use to be able to scale it down quite a bit (scaling works fine on the Windows version) only seems to affect the Mac version (since v24.0) doesn't scale as far. See attached image for reference.

20. Text height is wrong

    When you select a specific text height, it is not correct. Say for instance you select 1 inch for text height but in reality the cap height is .68 inches. We work at a sign shop and a lot of jobs require a specific text height. This is misleading when I pick 1 inch for text height and it is no where near 1 inch in height. Can you please make it where the text height corelates to the actual cap height of the text, otherwise this feature is useless.

    Latest Illustrator releases have Font Height Options you can access form Character panel’s menu — they allow you to set font height as a capital / x-height specifically.

    The functionality has some minor issues (regarding rounded stems for some fonts, keeping the chosen option between launches), but otherwise it is very good. Please try it!
