1. New Recolor Artwork information link not working

   In the new Recolor artwork 2021 panel the info button in the lower left jumps to a link that is not working currently. It was working for me before, but in the past few days it's failed:

2. Variable Data Not Working - Illustrator

   Hi - Is anyone else having issues with the Variable data tool? This week it doesn't seem to be working for me after a recent update.

   I'm trying to import a list of names to swap out for a batch of images.

   I've created my image, dropped in the line of text that will change based on the data and put that on a new layer. I then clicked "Make Text Dynamic" in the Variable window and loaded my .CSV file of list of names.

   The data set comes in, but it comes in blank. None of the names in the excel coverted CSV file come through.

   I've attached my CSV file. Anyone else having issues or what am I doing wrong that is causing this not to work?

3. Typing now takes an hour

   Holy ****. Trying to make a type page of my new fonts that I just purchased. First time using AI since the last update. I feel like I was rendering a 100 gig file verses just trying to use the type tool. Don't even get me started on letter spacing, that was a whole other challenge.

   When something that should take seconds is now taking multiple minutes with Illustrator constantly freezing or going to a not responding white screen for TYPE.........TYPE! REALLY?

   I7 8th gen chip, NIvida Force graphics card with 4 gigs. 32 Gigs of HDDR ram. You can't buy my laptop in a store....But I feel like I am using Windows 94 on a Pentium Processor.

4. Illustrator crashes when monitor goes to sleep and other

   Illustrator crashes when monitor goes to sleep. The program used to run in the 19.0 and the first 20 version in addition to all the versions before that when the computer monitor went to sleep. When the monitor was awoken your work would still be there. With the new updates, this is no longer happens and a crash report is not given. Also when creating a board size in the latest version of illustrator you cannot highlight all of the current dimensions and delete them to put in your custom dimensions like you have been able to in the past. You have to click at the end of the number and repetitively press the backspace to remove the default numbers. I would appreciate if these issues would be fixed.

5. Using pen tool, panning, navigating layers is laggy

   Very frustrating. Just simple task like tracing sketches with the pen tool, panning with the spacebar or swiping from layer to layers causes the program to freeze. I see the pinwheel more then I see the mouse.

6. Global swatches unlinking from grayscale gradient

   I'm on a Mac Pro using Mojave version 10.14.6
   Using Illustrator 2020 & 2021, both updated to latest iterations.

   I have a gradient one piece object, I turn a copy of it grayscale through the Edit Color feature > convert to grayscale, I extract the grays generated and ensure global swatches is on to keep swatches linked. Each of this swatch I rename to a specific designation. I used this grayscale gradient and use it as an opacity mask, this serves as a density mask that allows me to control the opacity of each section of the color gradient separately.
   Now I duplicate this art along with opacity mask as a new layer, I drag it to new layer to duplicate it. This new art will serve as an alternate density control with different opacity values for each color, I want to rename the existing gray swatches but i want to keep the old values too at this point both share the same gray swatches with one set of specific designation. So I go into the original gradient art opacity mask and "cut" the gray converted art into the clipboard, keeping it safe. I then proceed to rename the gray swatches to the new designation and adjusting the gray values through the K slider after that is complete I re-paste in place the data in the clipboard back to where I cut it from. The old gray swatches reappear in the swatch table, however here is where the bug occurs. When i click on select unused swatches to check for linkages the swatches that returned from me repasting back the grayed art into the opacity channel is now unlinked and for some odd reason returned grayed gradient art which should have been insulated in the clipboard is now using the new renamed swatches from the new duplicate.

   The new swatch sets and the old swatch sets were supposed to maintain links to its respective gradient art.

   So far this happens to gradients converted to grayscale 80% of the time, I think this is a bug as 20 percent of the time functions as it should like with other objects with single simple swatches.

   My background is color separation for t-shirts and i use this method to generate grayscale underbase plates that allows me control of the color density in each color area.

7. Reflect Across Vertical Axis does not account for Variable Stroke

   I was making a vector in Adobe Illustrator using Variable Stroke. I wanted to make a mirrored copy of my original left-facing drawing to have a right-facing character. But when I mirrored it, the Variable Stroke did not match the original.
   Attached is what I was working on, also labeling the three areas where the issue is most obvious. Note how the stroke thickness is not identical.

8. Color picker preview doesn't match color field/document, matches monitor RGB instead

   1. Operating system: Windows 10 Pro. Version of Adobe Illustrator: 25.0
   2. When I select a color in the color picker, the circled color in the color field doesn't match the color in the preview. The color field matches the document, but the preview shows it as much brighter. It actually matches my monitor RGB since it matches the document opened in Windows photo viewer (see attachment). I don't have this problem in Photoshop. Everything matches. It looks like the color field is correctly color managed but the preview box is not.
   3. Expected result: I expect the preview to match the color field and the document.
   4. Actual result: The preview matches my monitor RGB, so it shows as much brighter, and thus an inaccurate preview.

9. Illustrator file showing "text import file" tab

   when i launch my illustrator file, it showing text import file, and i click ok. nothing is shown, just blank artboard.. please help me.. it's my important file :(

10. Normal "Save" operation in recording Actions becomes a "Save as" operation

    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit 2004, Illustrator version 25

    When you create a new action and use "Save" it becomes a "Save As" where it displays a path.

    My scenario: I often have to re-save a batch-exported pdf again with normal "Save" so that all text is converted to paths for a print house via custom shortcut F12.

    Because during batching there is no option do convert the text.
    So I need a second run with recorded actions:

    • select all
    • convert all text to path (outlines)
    • save
    • close

    The normal save operation is required so this can work with any file in any folder!

    Changing the path for the "Save As" operation is a really annoying time killer.

    Please repair normal "Save" action!

11. Type on Path Brackets Not Appearing

    When using type on path tool (and then direct selection for realignment), the brackets to realign often don't appear regardless of how long you tediously go over the path trying to get the cursor to change. In the off chance we can get them to appear, often it isn't possible to drag the text fully to where it needs to be to go in place before the cursor jumps. This isn't happening in Photoshop, only Illustrator, which leads me to believe it is a bug.

12. Lost stroke when copying dynamic symbol

    We use a lot of dynamic symbols in the fashion industry to make colorways and keep the link with the original sketch which is in black and white.
    In Illustrator CC 2019 (23.1.1) and CC2020 (24.3) version on Mac and Windows, I noticed several bugs with the dynamic symbols:

    When I copy a dynamic symbol (CTRL + C / CTRL+V), the outline of the copy disappears.
    When I copy a dynamic symbol (ALT + Drag & Drop), the outline of the copy disappears.
    When I copy a dynamic symbol using CTRL + C / CTRL + F, the outline of the copy is normal.
    When I copy a dynamic symbol from one Illustrator document to another, the outline of the copy disappears.
    When you copy a dynamic symbol with a pattern fill from one document to another, you loose the scale of the pattern.

    I started a discussion about this issue on the Adobe forum and the solution provided by Kurt was to enable only the Transform Object option in the flyout menu of the Transform palette. But the issue occurs if you turn on either the Transform Pattern Only or the Transform object option.

    Do you have any idea where this problem comes from?

13. Excessive fan and temperature in v21

    Hi. Upgraded to v21 from v20 when it was automatically available. I am on a Dell laptop 7501 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz and 40gb RAM. Since installing v21 when illustrator runs it constantly runs the fans up and CPU temp is generally above 80degrees, after about an hour the program crashes. All drivers are up to date. Switched back to v20 and no issues, no fan noise in operation and temp about 20degrees lower!

14. Expand path twith rounded ends to shape not working

    In Illustrator 25.0 a path with rounded ends will no longer turn into the equivalent shape. Instead, one end will be squared off, rendering the function useless.

    CC2021 is just so full of bugs right now, I'm currently downgrading to 2020 again. So sad, as the old, orange man would say.

15. (Slow) and not responding

    Hi!

    For the moment, I am unable to work on Illustrator. It worked fine earlier this week (even with a few unexpected crashes or slow moment).

    On a preexisting file or a brand new one, it is slow (zooming in or out for example takes seconds) if not just not responding at all: trying to move an element gives me a black window for a few sec' with a Not Responding state before I can see again and nothing has moved.

    I tried on v.25.0 and v.24.3 (from Windows 10).

    Maybe the issue comes from the computer, or Windows ?
    But the rest works fine.

16. illustrator is unable to save this document ... due to some unexpected errors.

    Prior that, I get a message saying "This file has been modified outside Illustrator. Do you want to continue?" Then I click yes.

    Then... "Illustrator is unable to save this document ... due to some unexpected errors."

    I've been getting this message every now and then whenever I try to save a document. Started when I updated my Adobe Illustrator to version 25.0.

    Save a copy yields the same result.

    Adobe Illustrator version 25.0
    macOS Catalina version 10.15.6

17. PROBLEME A L'OUVERTURE

    Bonjour,
    Depuis de nombreuses semaines il m'est demandé à chaque ouverture de rentrer mon identifiant et mon mot de passe.
    C'est insupportable !
    J'ai fait toutes les demandes afin que ce problème soit réglé. A part me donner des listes de sites avec des liens innombrables pour procéder moi-même à la résolution de ce problème, je n'ai aucune solution.
    Je ne suis pas technicien et les solutions sont hermétiques.
    Je souhaiterais que quelqu'un de qualifié prenne la main sur mon ordinateur et fasse les réglages lui-même.

18. Allow a “create new folder” option, as the desktop version has.

    I don’t see any option to create a folder for files with this version. I can only create new files. I need to be able to create folders to keep all of my images organized. Right now, they’re all over the place. The desktop version has the option to create folders, and I don’t understand why this version doesn’t.

19. Copy & Paste not working from Illustrator to Photoshop

    Copy and paste from Illustrator to Photoshop no longer works. When attempting to paste in Photoshop, Photoshop gives this response..."could not complete the paste command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid". I recently updated to Illustrator CC 24.1 and Photoshop CC 21.1 running on Mac OS High Sierra v. 10.13.6 This functionality worked flawlessly on the previous versions of Illustrator and Photoshop, but no longer works with the update. I've tried trashing prefs and restarting the computer, but to no avail. Is there a fix for this?

20. Dragging a bounding box corner rotates instead of scaling

    I recently updated to the latest version and at the same time discovered this issue. When moving my mouse over to the corner or center of an object, to grab those white scaling boxes, i am given the icon to scale said object, however when i click and drag the object rotates instead. its very frustrating as all icons and tool use indicates it should scale but surprise it rotates.
