2. New Document has strange green lines, rulers, checkered background, and second artboard

   My Illustrator recently updated to 28.7.1

   Now, when I create a new document in Illustrator, the artboard/working area looks like the attached file.

   I'm confused at what this is and the checkerboard background is messing up my vision!!

   How do I go back to the plain dark gray work surface with WHITE artboard view?

   Also, when I am trying to create 1 artboard, it keeps creating 2 artboards...one filling the whole background and 1 the size that I specified....

3. Accented characters in PDF not showing correctly

   Imported PDF text has spurious spaces (and broken into different text blocks). In the source program the only difference is whether RTF is encoded using charset-encoding in the current code page (OK) or using unicode reference (like this). In PDF readers looks correct either way.

4. Strokes stop working properly.

   Ever since version 28.7.1, after a bit of time, today was less than 2 hours, strokes can no longer can be edited.

   Changing "Align Strokes" changes nothing, stroke size changes nothing. Changing caps changes nothing. This happens to both new and old strokes on both new and old paths/shapes.

   Currently restarting the app seems to work around & reset it, but only for a few hours, then it starts happening again.

   P.S. This is on a Mac

   We have fixed this issue in 29.0 (MAX) and 28.7.2 releases.

6. Not sure who angered Microsoft, but Adobe Apps not Working again!

   It seems like every Tuesday, after Microsoft sports it's guerilla updates, Adobe Apps, especially Illustrator Beta and Illustrator 2024 stop working. They will launch, but won't stay open for long before they just disappear. And though it pretends to save your work, it doesn't. This is probably the fifth or sixth time this has happened.

   Last time this happened, I had to uninstall the entire creative suite and run a special program to wipe my drives of all things Adobe then reinstall from scratch to get it to work. What a nightmare.

7. Illustrator Version 28.7.1 - xmpfile does not have a constructor ( using Extendscript with Illustrator )

   OS: macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93)
   Illustrator version 28.7.1

   Prior to this update I have been able through extendscript to read XMP data from a file. After the update I get an error:
   
   "XMPfile does not have a constructor".
   
   on the line of code:
   var xmpf = new XMPFile(.........

   Reverting to the prior version resolves the issue.

8. Contextual alternates don’t work for Cyrillic letters with Adobe Single-line and Every-line composers

   While Ai allows to pick a contextual alternate for Cyrillic letters for fonts that support them, it actually works only for Middle-Eastern & South-Asian composers, but is visually ignored for Adobe Single-line and Every-line composers.

9. Broken CSS Style Elements in SVG Save and Export

   I have been exploring why our company users are seeing full black artboards or random black fill objects in SVG files produced in the Save As\SVG process, as well as exporting SVG using API developer tools. I know there have already been issues with non-alpha-numeric characters (what I will call “irregular characters”), but the issue we are seeing relates to periods (.) specifically.

   When files are saved/exported using Style Elements to drive the CSS, if those style names contain a period, ie: "BLACK STROKE .25pt", the Save As SVG export process allows the CSS class label to contain a period. Since each new style is identified in the code by a period, this essentially produces two class elements within one label position.

   This can be reproduced by creating an objects using a Graphic Style they have labeled with a period in the name. Then export that files using "Style elements" in the CSS options under "More options". As it seems the default is to use Style elements, this shouldn't be difficult. Here is my example, one in Illustrator 28.1 and one in 28.7:

   In Illustrator 28.1 the SVG save as/export replaces the period in “.25” with “x002E” but in the 28.7 version the period isn’t replaced, the same as with most other irregular characters. The problem is that despite the CSS and the polygon class looking identical, they are not. The polygon is looking for a style with the class label "BLACKSTROKE.25", but as a period (.) identifies a new style label in the CSS, so the CSS list two different styles named "BLACKSTROKE" and "25pt", within one style position.

   This can also be observed by saving the code above as an SVG, view it, then delete the two periods in both instances of “.25pt” and view it again.

10. Scrubby Zoom stopped working

    My Scrubby Zoom suddenly stopped working. It worked this morning and after it wouldn't work at all.
    It's activated in my GPU Performance under Animated Zoom.
    I'm NOT in Pixel Preview or in Traced Preview.
    I have a 2023 Macbook Pro M2 Max Sonoma 14.6.1
    Adobe Illustrator 28.7.1
    Can someone help me?

12. Glyph substitution not working in v28.7.1

    In v28.7.1, if the formatting of the character immediately before a glyph substitution is different, the glyph substitution does not work, and the default glyph is displayed instead. This bug occurs just by opening an ai file from a previous version. It's an extremely serious bug.

    It is confirmed the issue is indeed fixed in the Beta 28.7.0.65 and soon will be pushed into main build.

13. Inconsistent Print Results with Intertwine Tool

    The Intertwine tool does not appear to have consistent results from screen to print. A number of images in which I used the tool appear perfectly fine on screen, and even when exported to different file types (such as jpg), but when they are printed directly from their native AI file, the intertwined areas create graphical abnormalities. I've provided one such example below. The right shows the Intertwine tool failing to show the latch plate in between the hook's base and the hook's tip. In the left image, I've corrected this using a transparency mask instead. Please investigate and fix.

14. Calligraphic brush renders improperly if Roundness is less than 10%

    Calligraphic flat brush renders improperly (brush tip is S-shaped) when roundness is less than 10%. Was trying to do calligraphy with 5% flat tip in Illustrator when I noticed this problem, that creates a lot of cleanup. See images.

15. 文字組みアキ量設定の動作不良

    1.お使いのオペレーティングシステムおよび Adobe Illustrator (デスクトップ版) のバージョン
    Windows10、Adobe Illustrator28.7.1

    2.問題が発生したときに実行していた手順
    Illustrator28.5以前で作成した添付の文字組み設定を、Illustrator28.7.1で開き、移動するなどすると前カッコが移動する。
    添付資料の文字組み設定を利用したテキストで、全角丸開始カッコのみ移動する。
    他の全角カッコでは問題なし。
    複数のPCで同様の症状が出る。

    添付資料を確認ください。

    1件のデータ内に、上記の文字組み設定利用有無の文字列が混在しており、同様のデータが100件以上あります。大変困っています。
    現状は、Illustrator27.9.5で対処しています。

16. XMPMeta is not defined on ILST 28.7.1 on MacOS #515

    As of ILST 28.7.1 on MacOS, XMPMeta has stopped working. However, it works fine on:
    - ILST 28.7.1 on Windows
    - ILST 28.6 on MacOs

    The issue also exists on ILST (Beta) 29.1 on MacOs.

17. Hidden objects wrongly get sent to back when duplicating artboards

    When I alt-drag to duplicate an artboard where I have hidden an object on the artboard, it moves the hidden object(s) to the back. The bug doesn't work if the hidden object is all the way in front.

    This is very frustrating, as I frequently hide objects and duplicate artboards, and it's causing everything to suddenly be out of order.

    To replicate problem

    1. create a few stacked shapes in an artboard
    2. hide one of the objects (not the top object)
    3. with the artboard tool, alt-drag to duplicate the whole artboard
    4. show all objects
    5. you will see that the formerly hidden object in the original artboard has now been moved behind everything, no longer in the place it once was.

    Windows 10 pro

18. Default line stroke color needs to be black and no fill for line segment tool, it keeps reverting back to no fill/no stroke color

    This has been going on for a very long time so I'm sure many others have seen this by now. I do A LOT of work using the line segment tool. Nearly 50% of the time I am using it, the stroke color or fill selections change on the tool. It needs to be set on default with no fill, black stroke color, with either .5 or 1 pixel (should be selectable in settings). Please for the love of anything... fix this silly problem.

19. Ctrl+F sometimes doesn't work

    Ctrl+F sometimes work and sometimes doesn't, I have to redo the copy and them Ctrl+F again.
    + it sometimes paste not on the top but under everything.

20. Edges are misaligned at high zoom level

    After zooming in on a rectangle, the actual rendered appearance is misaligned with the edges of the rectangle.
