1. Contextual Task Bar and Help Bar don’t have hotkeys and these can’t be assigned

   When I check Keyboard Shortcuts, Menu Commands, Window, I can find Control, Properties... but not Contextual Task Bar or Help Bar. So we can’t assign hotkeys for these and call these from keyboard when needed.
   Seems like someone forgot to include these slots for customization. Please expose these.

2. Snap to Point doesn’t help much to snap an object’s edge to another edge, even with Smart Guides

   'Snap to point' in Illustrator is poor. You cannot currently snap objects together reliably. Results are inconsistent.
   For example:
   1) snapping a point to an edge does not work well, if at all. I have 'snap to point' on and smart guides enabled.
   2) when using constrain with the Shift key, whether they be points or edges. Even with Snap to Point turned on, or using Smart Guides. Just something simple as drag-copying another box adjacent to itself does not snap together the edges.

   In my videos, the first video applies to point 1) and the second video at 10s, you can see that when using 'constrain' there is no information about where the edges are, and snapping of the edges clearly does not work. Not even dragging a corner, which is a point, to the other objects' edge, no snapping or any edge indication.

   Adobe please do not consider this. Please just fix it and make this work, please!

3. Pencil tool preview not showing

   Hello, in illustrator 29.4 and 29.5 (on windows 11 pro) I can't preview the path while i am drawing with the pencil tool. I checked all the settings and everything is set to see it. I had to downgrade to illustrator 29.2 to use it again

4. Strokes smaller than 1 pt (or 1 mm) become zero when Stroke Weight down arrow key button is used

   If you set a stroke to 1 pt and click Stroke Weight down arrow key button, it correctly goes to the next smaller value from the dropdown — 0.75 pt.
   But if you do the same with 0.95 or anything smaller than 1 pt, clicking this button instantly makes it zero, skipping all the smaller values.

   It’s even worse if you set stroke units to be non-points — even though there are plenty of smaller values in the dropdown, and 1 mm is much larger than a point, it goes 0 too.

   While Cmd/Ctrl+arrow (not recorded) works fine with points, going 1-0.9-0.8... — for millimeters it works only down to 0.5, and then skips 0.35 and 0.25 (listed in the dropdown) and become 0 again.

   Ai hates other units...

5. Objects invisible after leaving Isolation Mode

   After making changes in Isolation Mode the objects become invisible until I move it. This has been happening to me in many different files.

   The team says it’s fixed in Prerelease build 29.6.191.

   The fix is now scheduled to be pushed into the upcoming general release. If you are a part of the PR program, please check if it works.

6. Bottom margins for labels are too small for Swatch Info objects in the column view (with no card backgrounds)

   If I choose to display Swatch Info card in a column, and choose to omit background cards, the result would have text lines too close to the chips below, like the attached image shows. It makes it feel like the text is not related to chips above, and forces us to use cards still to control 'space after' at least somehow, even when cards are not necessary.

   While the team hardcoded the 'space before' as a strict gap (again, hardly OK), they seem to forget to do the same for the bottom line.

7. Adding new anchors with Pen tool when Snap to Grid is enabled is treated wrong and inconsistently

   Illustrator allows to snap stuff to grid, but really doesn’t love doing it (here’s a request about the tolerance and how it’s to harsh in general: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49616738)

   Here in a GIF I’m creating a simple path with anchors placed on a grid. After closing the shape, I decide to add several points in-between, and have them on the grid as well... but the only anchor I can place normally is the one in the middle, that happen to be exactly (within an unknow tolerance) at the intersection of the grid lines (and the cursor gets a + to indicate adding would happen).

   But for some reason when I try to add an anchor within the magenta circle... a new path gets started.
   Well, OK, the path is too far from the grid node, I guess...
   But then I try to add a point below the one I was able to place — and it gets added! ...even though it’s not on a grid node at all, but at a grid line... OK, but this happens only if I am zoomed out enough, because if I zoom in — it won’t happen, the tolerance hit is detected in the screen space. And even if I try to add an anchor on a path at a grid line intentionally — Ai won’t let me.

   So what we have to do, is to disable Snap to Grid, place points, enable the snapping back, and move each point to snap to grid line intersection again.

   This differs from how snapping to grid happens in other editors. If I try the same in Affinity Designer (using Node tool) — it will offer me to place new anchor on intersections with grid lines, like the second GIF shows.
   I am also told Fontlab catches a mouse click to see if it hits a path first, then adds the anchor, and only then snaps it to the grid — and it makes practical sense as well.

   Perhaps start loving grids?

8. Blob Brush strokes often include garbage on turns

   What is wrong with Blob Brush. Even with simplest strokes I often get groups, and these have the main part and tiny pieces of garbage next to it in them.
   Sometimes these are thinnest slivers, sometimes knotted madness, sometimes chunks chomped off...
   If I run simple Pathfinder Add, some of this get 'healed'. Why don’t you do at least this? Why these awfully angular turns and garbled edges happen in the first place? Please study the file.

9. Missing fonts warning when no fonts are missing

   Every time I open any illustrator document, the missing fonts box shows up telling me all of the fonts are missing, but when I click replace fonts, they don't show as missing any more and there's no issue. This is a really annoying bug.

10. The "color spectrum" in Color panel always shrinking to the minimal size and it is very annoying.

    Every time I open Adobe Illustrator, the "color spectrum" in color panel always shrinking to the minimal size. Could you please make it not change according to the size the user wants. I usually need the "color spectrum" to be full size (maximum size). That would really help us designer a lot. Thanks, Adobe team.

    Since MacOs Sequoia upgrade, Illustrator randomly recording / monitoring screen despite disabled in Privacy settings. Sequoia bug, AI bug, or Sequoia revealing this was happening all along. Could just be the color picker, could not. Doesnt happen reliably with color picker use. Only happens in Illustrator and only since the Sequoia upgrade. Something isnt working right between the OS and app.
    If screen monitoring is turned off, Illustrator should not be able to monitor.

    Illustrator uses Apple screenshot API to pick colors outside the Illustrator window with Eyedropper tool. Apple has enhanced security in the recent OS updates to let user know which applications are recording the screen, whether you pick a color value of single pixel or recording the entire screen.

    Illustrator is not recording users's screen, it is required for Eyedropper tool to pick color from single pixel.

12. Very laggy zooming in and out using mouse scroll since versions 28.1

    I'm on Windows 11, using the newly updated AI 29.0. This has been mostly my issue since AI 28.1 onwards. I've been using AI 28.0 without any problems, but I try out every new version to see if the issue will be resolved. I have a good internet connection (700++ Mbps). I think my system has more than the minimum requirements.

    For AI 28.0 - both .AI and AIC (cloud) files can be zoomed in and out using mouse scroller without any problems.

    For AI 28.1 - 29.0 - Locally saved .AI is somewhat laggy. Cloud saved .AIC has a very laggy scroll zoom.

    I have tried resetting the preference and reinstall a couple of times to no avail.

13. Smart Guide Measurement Labels give a diameter for polygon live shapes, but show a width and height

    Smart guide measurement labels display the diameter of polygon live shapes rather than their width/height, but still lists it as W/H in the label itself.

    Steps:
    1. Create a polygon with a square bounding box (like an octagon)
    2. With smart guide measurement labels on, drag to a specific size.
    3. Note discrepancy between the size listed when you release and the size in the transform panel.

    Result: Label displays a different W/H figure than the transform panel.
    Expected result: Either the measurement label explicitly informs the users that it displays diameter (i.e.: 'Dia: 100 px'), or it displays the bounding box width/height.

    I'd imagine the latter is more sensible since a diameter for polygons is listed nowhere else that I am aware.

15. Threaded text area box disappears after saving

    MacOS Ventura 13.7
    Illustrator 28.6 and newer

    When I convert a document to curves, save a copy, and then press Undo so I can have the text boxes editable again. As soon as I press Save after doing this, the second text frame in a thumbnail in Finder vanishes, while still existing in the document.

    According to the team, this is expected to be fixed in the upcoming November Beta and Prerelease builds. Once it’s verified to be fixed, it will get pushed into the next main build.

16. Contextual alternates don’t work for Cyrillic letters with Adobe Single-line and Every-line composers

    While Ai allows to pick a contextual alternate for Cyrillic letters for fonts that support them, it actually works only for Middle-Eastern & South-Asian composers, but is visually ignored for Adobe Single-line and Every-line composers.

    Copy <Old Custom Workspace AND Keyboard Settings> to <New Version>

    Okay? It can't be that friggin' complicated. I'm trying to write a PowerShell VBA to do it, and I'm not a coder.

    I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HAVING TO MANUALLY GO IN AND TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHERE ALL MY CUSTOM SETTINGS ARE LOCATED AND THEN MANUALLY COPYING THEM TO THE UPDATED FOLDER.

    This might be too much for UX, but golly gee gosheroonies, why don't you create a folder called "Workspaces (Modified)" and have ALL custom settings stored in it, Workspaces, Keyboards, Menus, Toolbars.

    Oh wait, there IS such a folder, but custom settings are stored in there, in no subfolder at all, in various other subfolders.

    How about being consistent ? Even better, how about putting custom settings in a folder with the same name in the same location under ALL the Creative Cloud apps???????

    ADOBE IT IS 2024.

18. Releasing the mouse key / pen from dragging a scrollbar outside of the app’s window makes scrolling stuck

    While I'm using a stylus, if I use the scrollbar, illustrator acts as if I haven't released from the scroll bar and continues to wildly scroll, and all other features including closing the program are inaccessible. This continues even if I tab out of the program and doesn't stop until I force quit illustrator.

19. Variation in exported image size based on coordinate position when using Asset Export

    I think I'm seeing a bug in the size of an exported image when using Asset Export for Illustrator v27.5 on Windows 10 22H2 19045.3803. Here's what I've done and the result I'm seeing:

    • Create a new empty document, I used an artboard size of 60" x 36" with coordinates (0", 0")
    • Add a square to Layer 1 sized to 5" x 5" with a position of (10", 10")
    • Create a new layer, Layer 2
    • Add another square to Layer 2 sized to 5" x 5" with a position of (30.5", 20.5")
    • Select Layer 1 and Layer 2 in the Layers menu
    • Then select Collect for Export
    • In Asset Export, change the export settings to scale to a resolution of 25 PPI as PNG
    • Then export

    I had expected I would get 2 images each with dimensions of 125 x 125. Instead, I get one image at 125 x 125 and the other image at 126 x 126.

    This seems like a bug where the export is rasterized based on the artboard coordinate system instead of the asset's relative coordinate system, which can result in fractional dimensions that round up. Is it possible to get a bug fix for this or is there a newer version of AI that has this fix?

    I think I'm seeing a bug in the size of an exported image when using Asset Export for Illustrator v27.5 on Windows 10 22H2 19045.3803. Here's what I've done and the result I'm seeing:

    • Create a new empty document, I used an artboard size of 60" x 36" with coordinates (0", 0")
    • Add a square to Layer 1 sized to 5" x 5" with a position of (10", 10")
    • Create a new layer, Layer 2
    • Add another square to Layer 2 sized to 5" x 5" with a position of (30.5", 20.5")

20. Gaussian Blur amount for the object dragged differs

    If you apply a Gaussian Blur effect to an object and drag it, Illustrator will change the value slightly and restore it back when the transformation is complete.

    It seems that Real-Time Drawing and Editing option does not apply the same amount of blur while the drag is in progress.

    Especially noticeable if you hide edges temporarily with Cmd/Ctrl + H.

    Increasing the blur radius makes the dragged preview blurrier, but still less than the intended value.
