1. SVG Precision and options are reset on every launch of IL. Add a place in IL preferences allowing users to permanently set SVG precision.

   I've gone over this problem in detail on the forums here:

   Illustrator's precision for saving out SVG files has a default of 1 decimal place. This can cause severe path distortion and rounding errors in the resulting file if you simply save it with CTRL+S.

   This precision setting is reset to 1 after closing and re-opening Illustrator no matter what settings you have applied in the past. To rectify this, you have to:

   1. FIRST select "Save As..."
   2. Choose SVG as your format.
   3. Click save and wait for the SVG options dialog to appear.
   4. Change the precision value from 1 decimal place to something like 5-6.

   If you don't do this, any SVG you open and save (even if no edit was made) will likely end up malformed.

   You can replicate this by opening a SVG, nudging it maybe a pixel or two, and then saving it with ctrl+s. Re-open the file and then observe the obvious distortions and rounding errors.

   Right now, as it stands, It's so easy to corrupt any icons you might be working on if you are making changes from SVG to SVG.

   All you have to do is make a small modification, hit CTRL+S, and then ... boom! Your file is now instantly corrupted and rounding errors distort your paths.

   I urgently request that Adobe does something about this, such as letting users define their default save options somewhere in the preferences so that this sticks permanently. Right now, precision is reset to 1 decimal place on every launch of the application.

   Please add an "Export Options" section to the application preferences, or a menu item that allows us to set a default SVG export profile.

   I beg that someone on the team incorporates an option to fix this!

2. Artwork was deleted after switching between files.

   AI 30.1 MacOS

   All my artwork was deleted when I switched back from another file that I copied art from, including guides. Tried Undo multiple times with no luck. Had not saved file.

3. Gaussian Blur preview is slow to calculate

   Gaussian Blur is just so difficult to use, and preview NEVER works.

   When it's activated, to make a change on the objects or font that it is applied to, requires that I always turn it off first and turn it back on later. There is always a long delay for it to appear. The Gaussian blur needs to be redesigned so it is as dynamic and powerful as the feature in Photoshop.

4. Swatch Info rendering / grouping issue

   I was creating a tutorial for the swatches info, and I had a bug with the swatch object creation.

   I think the edge rendered outside the canvas but it created a group of patterns and text. total gitchout, but illustrator is stable, I filmed attached screeshot explaining

5. Fehler bei Bildern beim Ändern vom Dokumentfarbmodus RGB <=> CMYK (Bilder gehen kaput)

   System: Windows 11 Pro, Illustrator 29.8.1

   Ich habe folgendes Problem:
   Ab und zu erstelle ich ein Plakat in A3 im CMYK-Modus für den Druck und benötige das identische Layout zusätzlich für eine Stele im RGB-Modus. Bisher konnte ich die Layoutinhalte aus dem CMYK-Dokument einfach kopieren und in ein RGB-Dokument einfügen – das funktionierte problemlos. Seit einiger Zeit jedoch werden die verknüpften Bilder dabei zerstört:

   • teilweise werden sie komplett schwarz,
   • teilweise stark verfärbt,
   • teilweise nur in Fragmenten dargestellt.

   Manchmal passiert es auch, dass ein schwarzes Bild nach dem Bewegen des Illustrator-Fensters plötzlich wieder sichtbar wird.

   Das gleiche Verhalten tritt auf, wenn ich ein Bild aus einem CMYK-Dokument in ein RGB-Dokument einfüge. Wird ein schwarzes Bild über den Dateiexplorer neu verknüpft, erscheint es wieder korrekt.

   Zum Nachstellen bzw. Ursachenfindung habe ich ein RGB-Dokument erstellt und dort mehrere Bildvarianten platziert:
   - 1.RGB.jpg (Ausgangszustand, alle Bilder korrekt sichtbar)
   - 2.RGB-zu-CMYK.jpg (nach Umschalten des Dokumentmodus auf CMYK sind die RGB-Bilder zerstört)
   - 3.CMYK-zurueck-RGB.jpg (nach Rückstellen auf RGB sind die RGB-Bilder wieder korrekt, die CMYK-Bilder jedoch schwarz)

   Daraufhin habe ich die gleichen vier Bilder anstatt verknüpft eingebettet und mehrfach zwischen RGB und CMYK gewechselt – dabei traten keinerlei Probleme auf. Alle Bilder blieben stabil, ohne Schwarz oder Verfärbungen.

   Meine Vermutung: Illustrator verliert beim Umschalten des Dokumentfarbmodus den Bezug zu den verknüpften Dateien, was zu den beschriebenen Fehlern führt.

   Workaround: Bilder einbetten. Das funktioniert zuverlässig, vergrößert aber die Dateigröße erheblich (was bei meinen Layouts mit meist 6 verschiedenen Versionen pro Plakat sehr unpraktisch ist).

   Fragen:
   Haben andere Nutzer das gleiche Problem?
   Handelt es sich um einen bekannten Bug?
   Gibt es eine Lösung, ohne Bilder einbetten zu müssen?

   I have not as yet found a repeatable test case for this, perhaps now that I've posted this bug I will try to isolate it the next time this happens to be and add it here :)

9. The default text color in Swatches Info is rich RGB black when used in a CMYK document

   Create a CMYK document with Print profile.
   Create a Swatches Info object.
   Notice the black text in it is way too sharp on edges.
   Select text and check its color. It’s RGB 0 0 0, displayed in CMYK something like 91,17 78,69 61,95 97,45 (depending on the profile used, of course).
   It makes zero sense to use RGB Black in a CMYK document... in a live object especially.

   Yes, black color is not defined with Normal Paragraph Style, but is properly defined when a text is created with Type Tool. Why doesn’t this function know about it?

11. Spotlight search breaks when Illustrator is open on macOS 26

    • Operating System:
      macOS Tahoe 26 – MacBook Air M2

    • Illustrator Version:
      Tested on 2024 release and 2025 release (latest)

    • Steps to Reproduce:
      Start macOS.
      Launch Adobe Illustrator (either 2024 or 2025 version).
      Attempt to search for any file or folder using Spotlight.
      Observe that Spotlight shows no results.
      Perform a full Quit of Illustrator.
      Try Spotlight search again.

    • Expected Result:
      Spotlight should function normally and display search results even while Illustrator is running.

    • Actual Result:
      Spotlight fails to display any results while Illustrator is running, and only resumes working after quitting Illustrator.

    • Additional Note:
      Apple has reviewed this issue and marked Spotlight as “working as designed”, which strongly suggests the conflict originates from Illustrator’s side and needs to be addressed within the application.

    • Operating System:

    Estuve trabajando bastante tiempo con archivo recuperado porque ya se había trabado el sistema pero logre recuperarlo, y ahora voy a entrar a ese archivo que tenia guardado y todo, y no tiene NADA osea mi laburo de meses desapareció de la nada.

13. Custom art brush results in way too many anchor points when expanded

    Having a simple path (with minimum amount of points), applying a simple art brush (with minimum amount of points), and then expanding it gives a ton of extra points, hardly needed to define resulting shapes.

    It worked MUCH better in CS4... and then became much worse in CS6 (or perhaps in CS5) — take a look at the images attached.

    Yes, there are tools to deal with the mess afterwards: native Simplify, plugin VectorFirstAid... but it should not be like this in the first place.

    And please, do not 'solve' it by throwing in another hidden Simplify like you did to deal with Variable Strokes!!! This leads to loosing symmetrical point pairs across the stroke, it makes it work slower while editing! Just do better math, optimize each cluster but keep their edge-points intact! Look at the CS4 again, dust off from some old code!

14. Bezier handles become invisible

    I use the latest version of Illustrator cc 2025, on Windows 10.
    This problem has been going on for several, many versions back so it is not a version problem, but an Illustrator problem.

    When I work on a file for a long time, for example creating brands, so the entire table is full of tests, ideas, etc..
    I noticed that after working on the document for hours, days, it gets to a point that the BUG appears...

    As shown in the photo, the yellow vector on the right is the original document. I cannot see on that vector and on all the others present the handles of the bezier curves, the anchor points, the corners widget... Many times (not in this case) the snap to the paths no longer works (which are already not very precise)... etc..

    If I then create a new document and copy and paste the vector from the document with the bug, the handles magically appear and everything works again. (Orange vector on the left).

    I repeat, it is not a version problem, it has been years, many years (maybe since CC2020 that I noticed this problem).

    Does this happen to others? How did you solve it?
    I hope Adobe solves it. (Ai has too many Bugs 😥 )

    Happens when Cmd/Ctrl + H gets accidentally pressed, which is a hotkey for View > Show / Hide Edges command.

15. Partial selection of points is lost (the whole object becomes selected) when Undo and/or Redo are used

    Procedure:

    1. Make a complex selection of several points of an object with the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow)
    2. Double-click the Direct Selection Tool in the Toolbar (or press Enter) to bring up the transform dialog
    3. Enter values and confirm transformation with OK
    4. Undo
    5. The selection switches to entire object.

16. Brushes become a lighter tint of black in an RGB document when expanded or rasterized.

    Brushes like Art Brushes are based on a CMYK document. They were created with C0 M0 Y0 K100.
    When these brushes are used in an RGB document with an RGB black (0/0/0) for the stroke, the result will be around a lighter 10% black than expected because the CMYK black will be converted to RGB.
    You can check that by expanding, rasterizing or Output Preview in Acrobat.
    If they had been created in the CMYK document with a 100% Grey instead of CMYK values, they would have converted to the darkest black in an RGB documents (greyscale always keep their values when converted between RGB and CMYK documents).

18. Pasted symbol into new doc and that new symbol layer appearance overrode everything

    Very unexpected /confusing issue with Illustrator today.

    I cut and pasted a symbol from one document into a new doc. I tried to apply a new color to the symbol and it wouldn't work.

    The appearance panel showed the objects as black, the objects on the pasteboard were brown, and when I selected them, the fill color in the toolbar showed yellow.

    I broke the link to the symbol and tried to apply that yellow color to the compound path—it wouldn't work.

    I released the compound path and tried to apply yellow to the individual objects—it still wouldn't work.

    Rebooted Illustrator. Didn't help.
    Rebooted computer. Didn't help.

    Restarted Illustrator, went into the original symbol, and went into the symbol, cut and pasted the paths into the new doc—still wouldn't work.

    THEN... I noticed I was pasting the paths onto an empty layer named new symbol 2, so I pasted the paths onto a new layer and the colors were correct!

    SO DEVS, I don't think this is a logical workflow. There is no indication on the appearance panel that a color was applied to a layer, so it's near impossible to tell what's going on.

    The appearance panel showed the objects as black, the objects on the pasteboard were brown, and when I selected them, the fill color in the toolbar showed yellow.

    I broke the link to the symbol and tried to apply that yellow color to the compound path—it wouldn't work.

    I released the compound path and tried to apply yellow to the individual objects—it still wouldn't work.

    Rebooted… more

19. Gradient does not rotate with object when using corner handles (manual transform)

    When an object with a gradient is rotated manually using the bounding box (corner handles), the gradient does not rotate with the object.
    However, using the Rotate tool or Object > Transform > Rotate results in correct gradient behavior.

    This silent inconsistency leads to invisible errors in print output — especially in professional workflows.

    🧪 The bug was tested on multiple Illustrator versions, macOS and Windows, fresh installs, and clean preference files. It is reproducible.

20. Color picker picks a color behind the OK button

    When using the eyedropper in Color Picker, when you click OK it samples the color behind the OK button instead of the one selected with the eyedropper.
