Maybe I'm completely wrong, I don't know (leave it as a theory), but please do not think that I am writing for the Solution. While there are thousands of people who don't even know about Userovice, I try to at least write about the problems I experience as much as I can. I just wrote it to highlight how a startup screen can cause a problem for a program. It happened to me in the past. I can't keep them all on record, can I?

Enisio, while your guess is valid, it does not add much to the problem solving....
Does THIS particular problem happens for you (I suppose it does, since you voted)? Have you created and shared the test file? Did you record a video, as request by the team? Did you provided the details for your graphic driver and OS in general?

Just in case, so that you know (and as far as I know) — Home Screen is made by a dedicated team, across all the apps in CCD, at the same time. You can imagine what limitations this impose... CEP or not — it’s easier to make it work as it is, as a separate addition, than to maintain numerous injections.

START SCREEN works entirely with Cephtml logic. I think the problem here stems from this. Unless the same Start screen is integrated into the program with C++ (or whatever), that is, machine language, these problems will not end and will not end. They've had this Start Screen problem for years and they don't plan to solve it. See the picture for my theory.

I just downloaded Illustrator 2020 on my PC. The PC is a little old but has all the required specs to run the program. However whenever I open Illustrator and try to open a new file (after selecting my preferences page size etc) nothing pops up I still see the "welcome to Illustrator" home page but can still select the tools and see the blank artboards I just created however nothing gets applied to them visually but if I throw in a big black triangle I see it only on the thumbnail from the Layers panel which is obviously too small to work on. I am unable to close the "home page" and it takes on the name of my new document as well. I have tried restarting my laptop a few times and updating the app and nothing seems to be working.

Charles, please check video driver, this I know could cause such bugs.

Since last week I'm facing this situation (attach): when I open illustrator, Home shows fine, but when I open a file, it doesn't open at all, and part of home screen still appears in background. Tools painel is there, but Layers and other stuff (like the art as well) don't. When open two files, it all appears, but eventually layers painel and others won't work (it's like the buttons of painels are pressed (darker), but their option won't show up.

We have created this thread to investigate . If you are encountering the below mentioned issues with latest Version (24.0.1 on Mac and Win), then please vote on this User voice thread and provide Test File via File->Package, Video and steps via dropping email at sharewithai@adobe.com along with this thread link so that we can identify and fix the root cause.

1. On opening a file in Illustrator the START SCREEN do not gets dismissed and the file’s content is not visible.
2. While working on a file and opening a new one the document view sticks to the old file and do not switches to the new file artwork.

Please remember to update graphic driver. We are also seeing cases where updating graphic card driver fixes the issue. You can update your driver via https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/illustrator-gpu-performance-driver-update.html .

I still have that problem, I can't open another file while I have the first one open. Is it going to be solved?

After a little while without the issues, I've had issue 2 from above happen twice already today.

I have the same problem. This is preventing me from using illustrator and doing my job. Maybe time to look for other packages from another company

I have the same problem since the last update a few weeks ago. More than annoying ...

I have had this problem intermittently for a long time (using Windows 10). Typically, I'll click the icon to start Illustrator, but not open any files just yet. Later on, I drag an SVG file onto the Illustrator icon in the Windows task bar, wait for Illustrator to come to the foreground, then drop the file onto the window header bar at the very top of the Illustrator application. Illustrator locks solid, and has to be killed using Task Manager. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. The file is not at fault, because opening it normally using File > Open works perfectly. It is a fault with the largely pointless, and frequently irritating, home screen.

I am having the same problem. It looks as if it will start and then shows the icon on my taskbar but nothing shows up on my screen. Cannot work on projects for a week now.

This is still a problem with v23.0.4, and getting quite annoying!

I'm officially about to lose my ****. This problem is maddening. Been on with Adobe support 4 times for hours and no one fixed the problem. They deleted all my preferences and made me completely reinstall illustrator. The problem persists.

I have updated to 23.0.3 and am STILL having this problem - as of July 30, 2019.

Getting pretty tired of all the bugs in AI. Still having this problem.. alot!!

The files I have opened are showing as open in the "Window" dropdown menu, but I am staring at a blank Illustrator interface screen with only the top menu bar and tools palette showing.

I'm still experiencing issues with this on the latest version of Illustrator.
