Illustrator CC 2019 is very slow and laggy
I'm using a Mac OS 10.13 Intel Core i7 16 GB. Ever since I updated to the CC 2019, illustrator became laggy and slow. The other adobe apps worked fine after the update. I saw here that I should try turning the dictation off but that didn't help.
Everything in illustrator is slow now. And if I use the blend tool a lot in one document the eyedropper option in the gradient window becomes unavailable. Everything even if it's as simple as moving from one art board to the next or zooming in/out is lagging

If it could be of any use to you guys at support. This is a screencast of my current issue: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5hssrm0w7m23g8c/Illustrator%20hang.mov?dl=0
All the time where there is no action there is a spinning wheel and Illustrator is unresponsive. In this case it is when opening a file and when saving a file.

Updated to 23.1 on PC and having the same problems. Lagging and freezing after updating this week. It's not the machine. My other 3D CAD programs are running fine. I've reverted to version 23.0.2 which you can do from the creative cloud app window and that version seems to be fine.

Also having the same problem. Just updated again hoping that you had solved this issue. I can barely use it, and am working on logo projects and packaging. PLEASE FIX. I am running Illustrator 23.1.1 on a Mac Pro running Mojave - 10.14.5 with 32 gigs of ram. NOTHING should be this slow on this machine.

Having the same issues after latest update to 23.1.1 and OSX 10.14.6.
Illustrator just becomes unresponsive when saving and opening and when performing other basic features that normally would not be a problem. Had no problems before updating.

I have the same problem with my Illustrator 2019, I cant even use the Text tool nor move the box or type anything, it just starts spinning the rainbow wheel again. At first I could not understand how and why this could be, I turned off all other programs, opened my activity panel to see if anything else is running in the background. Still Illustrator doesnt respond. Also my dictation tool has never been activated... so I dont know what to do.
My iMac: 2013, 16GB RAM, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, High Sierra OS
Could you help me solve this problem as fast as possible?

I'm on Mac Mohave 10.14.15 and for somehow Illustrator 2019 had been really laggy and slow.
The dictation was off on my Mac already. So I reverted to CC 2017 and it is so fast now.
I'd recommend to reverting back to 2017 for those of you whose illustrator is laggy even though their dictation is off on Mac.

I see where some of you have rolled back to an earlier version to "fix" the lag issue. If I only got on board with cc 2019, can I go back to cc 2018?? and if so, how?

Illustrator has become painfully slow after updating my mac the other day. The spinning wheel of misfortune goes on forever. The Creative Cloud app seems glitchy too.
I have a mac pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 with a good 67GB free. -

I'd like to second the conflict with the dictation feature on my Mac and Illustrator CC 2019. Once I turned dictation off, problem resolved instantly. For those unfamiliar with dictation:
System Preferences --> Keyboard --> Dictation
With dictation "on" I was seeing an 8 second delay between the time I clicked on an item in my Illustrator CC 2019 file, and when Illustrator recognized the selection. At this rate, I was unable to work effectively.
For reference I am running the following:
Mac 10.14.2
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
Processor 3.8 GHz Core i5
Memory 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Graphics Radeon Pro 580 8192 MBThank you to whoever initially shared the dictation fix!

Just a regular reminder for people finding this thread: there are no fixes for windows or mac.
Best advice is to revert to cc 2017 version.

More. I request help to revert CC to earlier version that works. Help.

Thank god I found this thread. I was thinking it was me. Or I'd have to throw away my imac. Using 10.13.6 which I don't like because slow, but this is on a whole new level of slow. My 2011 laptop MacPro with Illustrator Stone Age Version works about 30 times as fast. I'm having to downsave stuff and open it on that ancient thing! And I have never had dictation turned on.
I request to revert CC to

Oh my gosh! It worked. As soon as I turned off my Mac dictation feature it started working again. Come on, Adobe! Please fix this.

I had to downgrade to 2017 because of how..... horrible 2019 is. I couldn't even get 2018 to work either!
Illustrator is constantly crashing, lagging, and I can't work with files larger than 1mb, and even then it's hard. It's Illustrator itself. It's so badly programmed that it's unusable. I read these comments and complaints on the daily, and it's not just an isolated thing. It's not just one particular computer or OS. It's illustrator itself, and Adobe needs to scorch the earth and start over.
