Visual glitch in modified text when using the “Transform” tool
When using the “Transform” effect on complex files, the visual display of the actual text does not update. The visual display is not up to date, whereas in the source code (CMD+Y) it is. To update the text visually, you must uncheck the “Transformation” option in the Appearance window, then check it again to force the visual update.
As shown in the attached files, the black-and-white one shows the wired version (with the correct text), and the other shows the standard view (with the text that hasn't been updated)

ファイルのアクセス権が起動時に必ず求められる
Mac

Environment
Illustrator ver.27 or later

Applying a gradient to multiple objects simultaneously using the Gradient Tool and then converting them into a compound path causes significant changes to the gradient stops.Steps to reproduce
1. Arrange three rectangles horizontally and apply a gradient to their fills.
2. Use the Gradient Tool to adjust the three rectangles so the start and end gradient stops align with their left and right edges.
3. Convert the three rectangles into a compound path.
4. The end-side gradient stop move significantly.Expected result
The gradient state remains unchanged after compound path conversion.Actual result
The positions of the gradient stops change significantly after compound path conversion.Workaround
After converting to a compound path, reapply adjustments using the Gradient Tool. When the gradient direction is horizontal or vertical, the end stop shifts significantly. For other angles, both gradient stops move.

Significant issues when outlining a file for production / Color of text becomes mixed [?] while Appearance shows None for fill color
When outing a full packaging layout for print production, text blocks turn solid (not text), editable compound shapes (shapes with text in them) turn solid, sometimes the whole layout disappears - I cannot find a common issue for these things and seems somewhat random. This never happened before the V29 update and is causing significant rework and extra steps in the file production process.

Bezier handle hit box too small, difficult to select and move handles
Version: 2026 desktop (mac)
Bezier handle hit area is significantly smaller than previous versions. Visual handle size does not match clickable hit area and it is sooo frustrating. It seems like you have to click on it directly in the center, otherwise it does not select and you can't adjust and move the handles. Or you end up clicking on something else.
I usually draw in 2020, as it does not have this issue, but I like that you can rotate canvas on 2026. This handle issue is driving me crazy!
Anyone else having this issue?

Document Raster Effects settings not being honored on all affected objects
Illustrator 30.1 on MacOS 14.6.1
Changing the Document Raster Effects settings used to affect all objects with pixel effects, at current it appears not to anymore and one has to manually force an update of the Drop Shadow effect for example.Regards,

Area type centering option not working, text jumps to top of frame
When creating text frame with area type (it is not threaded nor multiple columns) set to center vertically, the text jumps to the top and will not center align at all. This is a function I have used in 2025 with no issues and now it will not work at all in 2026.

Hitting Tab key after changing artboard name in Artboard palette
If I rename an artboard in the Artboards palette and press tab (e.g. to rename the next artboard), the new name only changes in the Artboards palette.
The artboard name visible on the canvas, and the one used when exporting files, is still the old name.
If I press the Return key after making a name change in Artboards palette it works as expected.
Would like to be able to Tab through the list and make changes.

The gradient is not displayed correctly when moving the shape in any blending mode (e.g. Screen)
When I move an object with a gradient in a blend mode, the gradient seems to stay in place while I move it, and only applies after I release the cursor. As you can see from the screenshots, I am not moving the gradient, but rather moving the object itself.
This is very annoying; I've never had this happen before. I'm very disappointed that I updated to the new version.
Is there any solution?

Unable to open old ai or pdf files
Mac OS Tahoe, Ai version 30.1. <-- just updated 12/22/25
I cannot open complete, editable Ai or PDF files created in older previous Ai versions. A message appears that Illustrator could only partially read the file. If I continue it creates a file that cannot be edited. Opening and editing files is CRITICAL to our print shop business.3 votes -
Text gets duplicated in the second threaded area
Good morning,
Often, when I have two linked text boxes, the text placed in the first box is repeated in the second box. This doesn't happen right at the beginning, when I link the text boxes. I notice this later, when I review the work done. Can you tell me why this happens?3 votes -
Brush Increase / Decrease Diameter Size vs Stroke Weight
Basically in Adobe Illustrator, just like other programs including Photoshop, there is the shortcut, Left and Right brackets ([ & ]) for increasing and decreasing brush strokes. However, one thing that is annoying for Adobe Illustrator is that when using the brackets for adjusting the size of the brush, the size of the brush does in fact increase, but the stroke stays the same.
The screenshot below shows a stroke of 1, but the circle size of the brush is much MUCH larger. The brush stroke size should be constrained to the stroke size. This may not seem like much of a problem, but if I wanted to use the Eyedropper for matching the stroke size and color, it will not show the actual brush size, but the actual stroke (a stroke of 1 in this example). Essentially the original stroke size I used was completely unaccounted since the stroke still reads 1 and I would have to guess the brush size I used.Basically in Adobe Illustrator, just like other programs including Photoshop, there is the shortcut, Left and Right brackets ([ & ]) for increasing and decreasing brush strokes. Illustrator v30.0 thinks file isn't saved, right after saving it
On some (but not all) files, Illustrator v30.0 will immediately add an asterisk to the name of the file in the tab, even though I have not made any changes to the file. If I save the file and then try to close the file, I am prompted to save the file again, despite having just saved it.
I just tested the exact same file in v30.0, v29.8.2 and v28.7.2, using MacOS 15.5 on a Studio M2 Max:
-I am saving the file to the desktop
-I have all settings related to "save in background" under "File Handling" turned OFFIn v30.0 and 29.8.2 the asterisk appears immediately after saving the file. I don't even need to touch the keyboard or mouse.
In v28.7.2 it does not, and works normally.Any thoughts?

Centre Points of all objects are visible when I reopen files
Illustrator 30.0 on Mac Ventura 13.7.8
Each time I reopen a file in which I had a mix of objects with either visible or hidden centre points, most of these are visible (at least, those of paths, guides…) and they can get in the way.
I think this started happening with the new version 30.0 (or maybe just the one before).
Here are examples of 2 similar files, one with and one without all Centre Points showing.
3 votesThe team tried to fix this in Beta 30.1.0.109. The latest one is 30.2.0.12.
If you can — please try to use Beta and see if no centers will be enabled or disabled when reopening a file. The fix won’t remove those that are already in a document, so we need to to toggle them manually in the Attributes panel.

Spot swatch color is not saved correctly when changing the color of an existing swatch
Details of your operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19045 Build 19045)
The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop): 30.0
The steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
Create a new document, add a spot swatch and set the color to 100% cyan (or any color). Apply this spot swatch to an object, like a rectangle for example. Save the document as an .ai file. Then, change the color of the spot swatch to a different color (for example 100% yellow, or any color). Save the document again as an .ai file. Open the document in Acrobat.Your expected result and the actual result:
Expected result is that the rectangle in the file when opened in Acrobat should be 100% yellow, following the example above, or whatever the spot swatch color was changed to. Actual result is that the rectangle remains the original color when the document was first saved. If the spot swatch is changed, then copied into a new document then it displays correctly when saved.Upload your Illustrator file or a video (screen recording or gif, this helps us most to reproduce the issue and resolve it)
Open the file in Illustrator and the rectangle is yellow. Open the file in Acrobat and the rectangle is cyan.
Why does this matter? Many production printing RIPs use the embedded PDF data in the .ai file. If the spot swatch color data is not being updated correctly on a subsequent file save this causes issues in production workflows.

Illustrator forgets to undo the document color mode switch
Here’s a simple test.
1. Create and RGB-based document — the title says 'RGB'
2. Draw something
3. Change the color mode of the document into CMYK — the tab’s title changes accordingly (notice the History displays the generic 'Undo' instead of expected 'Document color mode CMYK')
4. Draw something else again
5. Start undoing steps, either with Cmd/Ctrl+Z or with the History panel. When you reach up the first object drawn, the tab’s title should display RGB — but it still says CMYK! ...and if you hover over the title, the hint appears saying it’s RGB (or not!) ...and if you draw something after this, it stays CMYK now. Ai forgets the document was an RGB one and never undoes it!If I try this in an older version, without History in it, like CC2017 — it works as expected.
