Disable all "Generative AI" marketing popups
Whenever I use Illustrator lately, I'll be in the middle of editing a document when this annoying feature popup appears. Literally right in the middle of me trying to get work done.
Please give me a way to disable this altogether. I have no interest in this feature. Please stop pushing it to me.

Lock, hide or deactivate artboards
An option to lock, hide or deactivate one or several artboards would improve working with multiple versions of graphics - especially when you you need to return to an earlier ittaration.
When saving to AI-file you have to erase the artbord (with the graphics floating in space) to get rid of the page.
139 votesStarting with Beta 29.9.0.36 it’s now possible to lock the objects on artboard basis from the Artboards panel, using a new Lock column, similar to one the Layers panel has.
How it works:
- In the Artboards panel, select one or more artboards and click Lock.
- All objects on those artboards lock automatically.
- To edit a specific object, simply unlock it from the Layers panel.
Give it a try and let us know what you think. Your feedback helps the team to shape what comes next.

AI 2020 slow
I am working on a 2017 iMac pro with an 18 core Intel Xeon W processor, 128 GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 memory and a Radeon Pro Vega 64 GPU (16 GB memory). I just (November 5, 2019) updated to AI 2020 and everything is significantly slower than the last version of AI 2019 (yes, GPU enhancement settings are on). I purchased AI CS because it had the GPU enhancement and it was 64-bit allowing me to work with the rather large vector images produced during my data analysis from spacecraft. However, this slow down is like going back to …

Add isometric drawing tools
Von Glitchka has an isometric drawing tools course on Lynda.com. I love producing drawings, but by adding one or two tools illustrator you could save alot of time and effort.

Get rid of Tool Tips for known tools
Please add a X to the big distracting Tool Tips. Clicking the X should hide the tip for that specific tool.
This will keep the tips for less used tools, but gets rid of the annoying tips for tools that we are using for decades. It will personalize the help system.

Hide / disable unwanted fonts
There is a long list of fonts that I just don't use. There needs to be some way to hide fonts. Especially with all the fonts that get added, plus any fonts that the os has installed.

Hide Pie Widget
In the same way as we can hide the corner widget I'd really appreciate the ability to hide the pie widget (while still being able to see the bounding box) I've never used, but I often scale eclipses from the centre right anchor point. Which is impossible with the pie widget thing.
View > Hide Pie Widget.

The generative fill has disappeared
The generative fill has disappeared. When I asked about this before someone had replied that it only works in a certain version. Which is it?

Precision drawing tools
Precision tools for drawing (symmetry, coordinates for handles, precise control of curves, etc.).
Currently, drawing a logo with precision is almost impossible.
It would be useful to draw inspiration from CAD, Rhino3d, Astute Graphics plugins, font creation tools (another lack of Adobe), etc.
Why do we have to buy other software to perform this task?
This is a serious lack of Adobe.
Or Adobe could develop another software (or an illustrator tool) with an interface dedicated to the geometric precision of the curves.8 votes -
Hide Grid on Perspective Tool
The "hide grid" function is so frustrating to select. Can it be larger or the target area around it be bigger?

Spring Loaded tools
Over in Photoshop, it's possible to hold the single-letter shortcut for activating a tool, and to then release the key to return to your previously-used tool.
In many ways, this is not useful in Illustrator, but in several, it's invaluable. The Zoom tool, in particular--I'd like to be able to hold Z, adjust the zoom, and release Z to be back on the selection tool (or whatever i was previously using).
The Hand tool already works this way: Take out a tool like Selection (v), and then hold spacebar to get the Hand tool. Drag the canvas around, then release…

"Font embedding" is possible in AI format
"Font embedding" is possible in AI format, and added “the data of that font is kept if text is not edited" option.
Data can be delivered to clients and output centers in AI format that all functions can be used, not PDF format.(Translated to Japanese)

Extended Tools Panel
Less frequently used tools (in my case: Scissors, Paint Bucket) are hard to find in the standard Tools Palette. Wouldn't it be great when Illustrator had a preset to show all tools at a glance (on my 30" screen...)?
I know that it is possible to create custom tools panels - but especially when creating those, it's nice to have a view on all tools at once!
2 votesIn latest version one can click small three dots at the bottom of the Tools panel and see all tools at once, including those which are already in the toolbox.

The size of the box should attenuate AI generator detail
I love the new AI feature, but creating a smaller box for the AI to generate in should attenuate the detail. A simple "bird" command creates an overly-detailed drawing for the scene, even with the detail slider set to "1"

Scrollable Panels and Tools
I want to be able to scroll panel and tool windows.
Panels:
I want to keep my most-used panels open in a scrollable sidebar rather than having to expand and collapse them. Generally speaking, expanding a tool collapses another. This leads to unnecessary clicks and movement. Unless I choose to collapse a panel, it should remain open — respect my intention! I expect panels to remain in the same place I left them, not shift up or down according to which panel was opened last.Tools:
On a small screen, the single-column toolbar gets cut…7 votes -
Possibility to open AI and PDF files in AI
I am working on color files for shoes using Illustrator in multi-page. It would be great if I wouldn't have to share the files.
But we are several people using the files, with different versions of AI, or for some of us only Acrobat.
So what happens very often and drives me crazy is that I can't open files (incl my own) in multi page, and even if I can open page by page (and waste a lot of time putting them back together) it is with a lot of clipping masks created by the app and which make…2 votes -
After AI crashes, list of Recent Files should be restored as it was BEFORE crash
AI crashes quite often. Every time I relaunch it, I see documents in 'File > Open Recent Files' that I opened long-long ago.
AI seems to save this list only after successful closing, which is RARE.Just make AI store list of recent documents elsewhere every time document is opened and restore it after crash.

Easier access to Tools
Please rework the tools palette. Some ideas:
make it easy to use the full height of the monitor to show more tools
make it possible to select / activate tools directly through the All Tools overview, even when they are already loaded in the tools palette. It's inconvenient and annoying to watch an icon blink and then have to go into that to select a hidden tool.
make it possible to drag tools from All Tools that are already in the tools palette. Dragging should result in the desired tool on the desired spot, and remove it from the other…

Allow to close Perspective Grid widget with any tool active, not only with Perspective Tools
MANY users don’t know how to disable Perspective Grid.
They don’t know about the View > Perspective Grid > Hide Grid menu command, and don’t even try to search for it, because they think that little 'x' is the only way to hide it...
...but that button only works when you have Perspective Grid Tool or Perspective Selection Tool picked, and does nothing when you have some other tool chosen.
The button never looks deactivated and lie to us about being clickable.
This modality makes zero sense.
Please allow to click it any time with any tool.14 votes
