Ability to script warp text or object with horizontal and vertical distortions values As of right now, it is difficult for me to adjust warp text using a JSX script since you do not expose the bend % or values of the horizontal and vertical distortions. Can this be added to JSX script?

Properties Panel Lack of alignment on single object Hello the new properties panel is good however if you select a single object there is no option to align that object, if you select more than one it comes up...
THis would be very handy on a single object
27 votesHi Everyone,
Thanks for this feedback. This has been avialble since June 2020 release (version 24.2). Further, when you’ll select a single object/group, Align To setting will default to Align To Artboard.
Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.
Thanks,
Varun

Copy/paste color values as text I often need to list color values in RGB, CMYK, hex, etc for brand guidelines and printing. It would be helpful if there was an easy way to copy all color values as text. Right now you can only select one value at a time which is very tedious. I know there are scripts that exist to do something similar but it would be nice if it was a built-in feature!

Option to convert Type on a path text back to point text I've been using the ArcGIS Maps for Adobe plugin which for some unknow reason likes to use type on a path for it's basemap labels, even when the label doesn't need to follow a path!
Quite often I've noticed several labels coming in with a red cross symbol highlighting that the path isn't long enough to show all the text.
This has made me very aware of some missing functionality in Illustrator, that of being able to revert Type on a path text back to point text.
Currently to do this, I need to double click the text…

Make Smart guides optionally work with live text Sometimes it is needed to snap to contour of live text.
Right now it requires to make a copy of text, outline it, snap to desired point/segment, delete copy. What if user could tick an option that allows to snap to live glyphs? or use 'Ctrl' modifier to toggle this mode on the fly? It would allow us to skip copying-outlining-snapping-deleting and boost the speed.

Preserve Styles when Copy/Pasting Text from Illustrator to InDesign Would love for the ability to copy formatted text directly from within Illustrator and paste into InDesign without it removing the formatting/styles.

SVG option to convert text to outlines when exporting When exporting SVG I have ran into wonkyness with fonts so sometimes we export SVG graphics with text as shapes...
But then I some times get distracted by a email or chat message and save the ai version with out undoing my text to outlines conversion...
Why not just have a check box on the SVG export panel "convert all text to shapes" then when I export this option parse the document and convert all text to shapes...
So I do not have to worry about undoing my convert text to shapes when I save the master ai file.

Convert Text in After Effects The ability to trace text in After Effects and to remain as text rather than having to copy and paste from Illustrator (just like you can convert Photoshop text to After Effects text)

Placeholder text relative to your document When you choose the type tool and click, the placeholder text defaults to 12pt. This means that the text is tiny if you have a large artboard (see attached). It would be cool if the placeholder text was sized relative to your artboard instead, so that it's easy to see and work with.

Keyboard shortcuts for Bold and Italic text It would be useful if, while typing/editing text, there was a keyboard shortcut to add BOLD or ITALICS - highlight the word, hit CTRL + B to bold, for example.

edit color of text in symbol instance I think it should be possible to edit the color of text in a dynamic symbol instance, just like it possible to change the color fill of any other element

Allow to combine/merge selected text and path to Type on Path In Ai on iPad we can select a text, hold a spot, and drag the text to a path, converting these to Type on Path. Easy!
To perform this in Ai for Desktop we have to cut the text, pick the proper tool, hold Alt (or use a subtool), click on path (very precisely), paste the text and then adjust the position (dragging tiny handles). Dated.
What we definitely need:
1. Ability to drag and drop a text on a path, using some modifier (Ctrl will do) to stick the text to the path
2. Have a command…9 votes -
Make Isolate Selected Object work with text (point, area, on path) Ai does not allow to isolate a text object.
We can workaround it by grouping it first, isolating, selecting all and ungrouping — but why execute these many useless operation instead of one?
Please make it possible.7 votes -
Please turn the eyedropper into a cursor for multiple text formatting Indesign allows you to drag over multiple words within a text box, or over various different places to apply a text attribute with the eyedropper tool. ie, the eyedropper when hovered over the text actually becomes like a cursor, so you can just swipe over the text to apply the attribute. Please can Illustrator have this same feature. Otherwise we have to use the cursor to locate the word, then shift+arrow right to highlight it, then click to apply. It's a bit annoying and time-wasting. The eye-dropper turning into a cursor when hovering over text is much more useful.

Turn text and shapes into a centerline This could be useful for text as well as outlines strokes if you could turn them back into open paths that are located exactly in the center of the shape.
Give us an exact result, not like the wiggly lines that Image Trace produces.
And also get good results with crossing lines.

Make option to generate compound paths instead of groups when text is outlined Create simple black-on-white string of text.
Outline it.
AI will make a group of compound paths.I would like to have a non-default option that would make AI generate one big compound path instead of group of paths.
If text has more then one character color within it — only then this option would produce a group, with a colored compounds within.Right now I have to use an Action (ungroup, release compound path, make compound path) and manually run it for every string/area of text before proceeding to next step of my workflow.
I will make a script…12 votes -

Editable text underline feature as available in Indesign Illustrator is the industry standard application for the packaging design and artwork industry. I don't think that this was the original plan for Illutsrator but this is now just a fact of life and millions of users around the world in the packaging industry use this day in day out for very technical builds where printer specifications must be taken into account. There are hundreds of features that could be added to make our lives easier as we work the lack of certain features to get it to do what we need. But the most glaring ommision for many of…

Open a PDF with option to outline text Sometimes if you don't have a font, a pdf opened in Illustrator will result in boxes with "x"s in them in place of all the fonts. I know how to go into Adobe Acrobat and fix this. But.... Would be nice if Illustrator had a dialogue box when opening a PDF that gave the option to outline all text open opening.

Advanced Blend Colors Horizontally / Vertically - make it work with compound paths
- give the user a choice to blend HSB (Blending R and B should give G) e.g. creating a rainbow should be possible with blending colors, but it isn't in the current version.
