1. I can no longer move my objects freely

   I can no longer move my objects freely as before, they are forced to be moved as if there were pixels. The methods are similar to InDesign and I can't be as precise as before because I'm forced to put an object in a place I don't want. How can i deactivate that or which settings should I change? I cant find anything.

2. 1-bit PNG images can’t be placed, an !IMP error is given

   When trying to place a 1-bit image on canvas, Ai either does nothing if it is drag-n-dropped, or throws an !IMP error message, like the attached image shows.

   The other image is the one to test the problem with.

3. [ExtendScript] Cannot change `underline` value of some text ranges.

   We cannot successfully set characterAttribute.underline to false in some textRanges.

   (MacOS 15.0 Adobe Illustrator 28.7.1)

   Steps to reproduce:
   1. New document
   2. Make a text frame with contents "ab"
   3. Set the "b" to a different fontStyle, eg. "italic"
   4. Run the below script, and check the console output.

   Expected Result: all tests PASSED, meaning that the underline can be set to true and then to false successfully.

   Actual result, test B on the "b" fails.

   Update: User sttk3 discovered that the bug is actually that Illustrator ignores an attempt to set a characterAtrribute property if the value is the same as the applied character style's value for the same attribute.

   We cannot successfully set characterAttribute.underline to false in some textRanges.

   (MacOS 15.0 Adobe Illustrator 28.7.1)

6. Distorted curve line when saving an SVG

   Hello, when we save from AI/EPS to SVG file, the 'f' edge path of the logo automatically becomes out of shape. We tried different colors and it works fine. This issue only happen on white SVG. Please help.

   Increase Decimal Places value in Export As / Save As (under More Options) to raise the precision. By default it’s too low, and if your graphics is rather small, it can cause problems like this.

7. Symbol swatches on network drives won't stay persistent

   We store our color and symbol swatches on a network drive. If we set our color swatches to be persistent, they automatically load whenever we restart Illustrator. This is not the case with symbol swatches. We have to reload manually every time. We expect them to operate the same way as color swatches. Please fix. Running Win 10/11 and the latest Illustrator.

   Working on a Mac touchpad when moving around the project with 2 fingers gesture zooming triggers automatically with extreme intensity.

   I used to work on my projects on my touchpad and now with the new updates somehow this bug appeared. Now it is a struggle to move around the project without a spacebar or with a hand tool instead of the previous Mac touchpad gesture.

12. Importing a PDF with only Spot RGB Colors inside treats the document as CMYK

    I am exporting PDFs from an RGB file using 'Export for screens’ with a PDF Preset that converts to sRGB.
    Any artboard that contains a ‘process’ RGB color (white, in my case) comes out as an RGB PDF file.
    Any artboard that only contains Spot RGB colored elements is seen as a CMYK file when opened in Illustrator or imported in InDesign (which is my goal).

    My example file will export nicely until I hide the background layer to make my PDF transparent. Then the one with the (previously) white background becomes CMYK.

13. Gaussian Blur Effect Changed in 29.1 from 29.0.1

    This was last an issue with 24.2.3, and since 24.3 it had been successfully fixed with consistent results in 29.0.1.

    December 2nd, 2024: We have discovered that the issue is how the Gaussian Blur effect performs on Process vs Spot colours.

    In 29.1, Gaussian blur now produces an identical effect on both process & spot colours. We'd consider that a fix, as a designer should expect the same result no matter the colour used.

    The challenge here for Adobe is weighing "fixing the blur" vs customer legacy files. As you can see in the comments from my previous July 2020 bug report, customers may have a client with approved files from a previous version of Illustrator.

    To save customers from having to reconstruct existing approved designs with a combination of offset path & new gaussian blur values to try and match previous versions of Illustrator...

    PROPOSAL: Adobe to please add a "Legacy Spot Colour Gaussian Blur" effect under "Effect →Blur" category.

    This way, new designs made in 29.1 onward can use "Gaussian Blur", but if you need to update a file made in 24.0 or 24.3 to 29.0.1, you can just replace the Gaussian Blur with "Legacy Spot Colour Gaussian Blur" on the affected spot colour shapes.

    EDIT: Instead of adding a separate "Legacy Spot Color Gaussian Blur", add it as a check box below the Gaussian Blur radius setting. That will make handling old files in 29.x much more efficient. 😎👍

14. Constant crashing - can't even move an object

    Have updated my illustrator to the most recent version 29.1.

    Using Mac OS Sequoa 15.1.1 - M1.

    1. I would make changes, scroll to another section of my frame. Return back and my changes were then 'reverted'.

    2. Every time I open the app it lags, spinning wheel of death, and all i'm doing is trying to maybe zoom in or out, copy or move an object.

    I have reverted to old versions, reinstalled etc

    It's a small file, good computer with heaps of memory.

    Illustrator is basically unusable at this point and can't do my work. .

15. Color set through Appearance section Properties conflicts with the one from dedicated Appearance panel.

    Some features in Illustrator are quite strange. For example, if you set a color in the Appearance panel of the Properties panel and then add a color in the independent "Appearance" panel, the object will have color A+color B overlap, but the color set in the Appearance panel of the Properties panel cannot be reflected in the "Appearance" panel.
    The Appearance panel in the Properties is different from the individual Appearance panel, which cannot be understood.

16. Align to key object doesn't work properly

    Mac Studio 2022 Apple M1 Max - 64Gb memory
    Mac OS Sequoia 15.1
    Illustrator (Middle East) 29.2.1

    Alignment to key object SOMETIMES doesn't work as expected. I cannot figure out which are the specific cases.
    When dealing with text boxes there is no difference between Roman Hanging punctuation ON or OFF.
    I numbered the screenshots according to the issue.

    1. TWO TEXT BOXES:
       I'm right aligning my text box to another text box. It right-aligns it to the right border of the selected text box with small margin (in this case 0,26mm). The right border of the text box is shifted 0,26mm to the left of the right border of the key text box.

    2. TEXT BOX AND (RECTANGULAR) SHAPE:
       My key object is the rectangular shape. Illustrator right-aligns my text box to the right end of the rectangular shape with a small margin (in this case 0,47mm). The right border of the text box is shifted 0,47mm to the left of the right end of the key rectangular shape.

    3. TWO SHAPES (one of them has no fill and a centered stroke)
       I'm right aligning a filled square to a rectangle that has a centered-stroke (key). It aligns it to the outer border of the box and not to the path.

    4. TEXT BOX AND HORIZONTAL LINE:
       I'm right aligning my text box to a line. It right-aligns it to the right end of the line with a small margin (in this case 0,52mm). The right border of the text box is shifted 0,52mm to the left of the right end of the line.

    5. TWO SHAPES (a centered-stroke line and a centred-stroke rectangle)
       I'm right aligning a line to a centered-stroke rectangle. It aligns the line to the outer border of the box and not to the path.

17. Color cannot be changed in compound paths and/or is not displayed correct

    In compound paths, the color cannot be changed directly via color fields or the pipette. The set color and color codes are displayed correctly under “Appearance”, however, nothing changes on the drawing area and the compound paths retain the fill color and outline color with which they were created.

18. Illustrator Beta Font Selection Panel Disappearing Problem

    When the pop-up font preferences panel opens, which is an easy selection area, the window that opens to select a font disappears when hovering over it with the mouse. The font preference preview panel closes before making a selection. It occurred after the last update.

    ich arbeite mit einem Dell Precision 7560 PC unter WIN 11 Vers. 10.0.22632 mit Illustrator. Ich habe einen Prozessor 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185H mit 2.5 GHz mit 8 Kernen
    Ich habe seit geraumer Zeit das Problem dass Illustrator extrem langsam wird. meine Dateien sind klein un bestehen nur aus wenigen Vektor-Linien. Das Problem tritt auf, wenn ich Teile anwähle und mit Command C in die Zwischenablage kopiere. Dann wird die Darstellung ****, alles friert ein, das Rädchen dreht sich und manchmal werden die Fenster und Bedienfelder Schwarz. Nach einigen Sekunden funktioniert dann wieder alles. Nachdem das ein paar mal auftritt stürzt Illustrator ab.
