1. "export for screens" beachball bug

   I am on a M2 MBA running the latest macOS. I have a bluetooth Logitech MX master 3S. I have illustrator 28.1

   When using 'Export for Screen', if I have a document with 20+ artboards, there is a scrollbar on the Artboards tab.

   If I use the mouse LEFT BUTTON to drag the scrollbar or use the mouse LEFT BUTTON to click on the arrows on the scrollbar, Illustrator will beachball and I have to use Force Quit to close it.

   If I use the mouse WHEEL to scroll the panel, I am able to make my selections - the panel scrolls, I am able to tick items by using the LEFT BUTTON..

   I've noticed this behaviour for Illustrator 2022, 2023, 2024.

2. Illustrator AI - high volume

   I'd like to have a better understanding of this problem - I originally posted in the community discussion but was told I would need to repost here so that's what I'm doing.

   I've been getting this error with one of my projects since this morning and since I can still use it by closing that project and opening another - I don't think the problem is really "High volume"

   • I do have a prompt that's about 3 paragraphs which could be the problem but if that's the case, Adobe really should be limiting the characters, not just saying that there is high volume or at least saying "Your prompt is too long".

   If this was a beta feature it wouldn't be a problem but since my monthly fees just got upped for this feature that isn't working, Id like to better understand what the problem is or for it to be fixed since it seems like it can't even handle prompts that free AI generators can.

   Some other things that would help with high volume are:

   • Negative prompts

   • Let us know what the "style picker" is grabbing for a prompt so that can be edited

   • Letting us know what prompts are triggering the usage guidelines - for example, "Thunderbolt" triggers the usage guidelines for some reason, and "Thunder bolt" does not - this last one just generally saves people time in having to "test prompt" to figure out where the problem is which might also be causing increased demand on your AI.

5. Legacy text objects updated after two file saves are completely lost

6. Illustrator reopens after quitting

   I'm on macOS 14.2.1 and Illustrator 28.1.

   When I quit illustrator it automatically reopens immediately. Workaround: close the app via the dock (secondary click > quit).

   I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

7. ガイド線が消せない。選択できない。

   いくつかのファイルで、ガイド線を引いた後、選択もできず、消すこともできない状態に陥ります。ガイド線を一括非表示にした時に限り表示を一時的に消すことができます。印刷入稿などへ回しても現物に影響はないので良しとしていますが、作業にあたりとても邪魔で困っています。

   Guides in Illustrator, unlike in InDesign, are considered to be objects and exist within layers. As per the comment by Ten_A, if your guides are contained within a locked layer, they won’t be selectable.

8. Files have a swatch that cannot be deleted

   Please help me understand why this swatch cannot be deleted. In this case it is a Pantone swatch, but in other files it's just a global color. I have deleted all objects and links in this file to be sure it's not connected to some hidden element.

   Thank you for looking. It is becoming an issue in file cleanup for clients. They all have this one odd, unremovable swatch from another project.

   As it turns out the swatch was in use by the plugin.

   If the same happens to you — try to check all the symbols, graphics styles, anything like this in the document that might use the swatch.

9. Problems with Photoshop Effects

   Lately, everytime I try turning a vectored shape (after I gave it a gradient mesh) with no stroke, I constantly keep getting stray white pixels inside the stroke that seem to trace the stroke. I'm trying to make a quality illustration, but these pixels are keeping me from doing that. Thank you!

10. Freezing on saving locally with fonts

    Hi, I am working on illustrator 28.0. Since the last update, Illustrator freezes whenever I try to save anything with fonts on my local drive. Even when I was using the Illustrator default font (Myriad pro font)

    Things I tried that did not work:

    • uninstalling and reinstalling

    • installing earlier version (illustror 27).

    • repairing the creative cloud itself.

    • turning off background file saving as suggested.

    Things that worked:

    • saving to cloud

    • saving the exact same files on other laptop with same fonts (both with same and different versions of Illustrator).

    • outlining all font layers

    Notes:

    • I am saving to my local drive, which I totally have permission to. (it saves normally when I outline fonts).

    • I am working on a windos 10 pro, Lenovo DESKTOP-1EE76FL, Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.90 GHz, 12 RAM, 64-bit operating system. with attached Huion touch screen

    • The file only saves on my local drive as .eps.

    • when it freezes in the task manager it shows "very high power usage" by Adobe Illlustrator, and something called "com.adobe.AdobeSplashkit.GraphicWindow" not responding, and sometimes it is something called AIRobin that is not responding.

    • Finally, I do have many fonts (but that has been for ever and never been an issue) and I do not use a font manager.

    Please feel free to ask me anything, but find me a solution. Help me.

11. Blend Modes are Broken in Illustrator 27.8.1 and also in After Effects 23.6.0

    Hello - I updated all my creative cloud stuff yesterday and blend modes don't work in Illustrator 27.8.1 and also in After Effects 23.6.0

    I opened after effects 22.6.5 and that works as it's supposed to.

    White canvas in Illustrator is actually transparent. Some blend modes require solid color underneath to make proper calculations, so get it rendered correctly, put something white in background (or filled with any other color).

12. Grey Work Area (unresponsive)

    I'm on a 2020 Dell XPS 15
    Tried Versions 27, 27.4, 28 and most recent of Illustrator.
    Only started having this issue within the past month.
    All other Adobe products are working perfectly fine.

    When attempting to open any existing document, the work area briefly flashes with the document before turning into a blank grey screen. I can't click on anything in the work area, but the tools can all be selected. The mouse icon doesn't change from the windows white mouse icon to the larger black Adobe mouse icon, so it seems like the work area isn't functioning at all.

    That means nothing happens when I recenter the artwork in the window (still just blank grey), and I can't create a new artboard.

    This is not a version issue, I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 different versions, going back to version 27, which has briefly worked, but then overnight Adobe shut down with an error and I'm back to not being able to work on anything.

    I have tried turning on and off the legacy new menu item to no benefit. The issue is in the document window itself, not a menu.

    This is getting really frustrating and I need to use this program for work.
    Any help is really appreciated

14. Can't Switch Between Documents / Windows

    Having multiple documents open - sometimes I can switch between them with a quick Alt-Tab, but mostly I get the error sound (Windows).

    Using Alt-Tab or using the mouse has the same results.

    On occasion I can switch documents, but that's usually one out of ten attempts.

    This only happens with Illustrator documents/windows - so if I tab over to another program there isn't an issue.

15. Bad rendering of glow effect

    OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 10.0.19045 Build 19045
    Adobe Illustrator: 28.1 (64-bit)

    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    - Create a blank Illustrator document.
    - Create a new shape, such as a white circle with no stroke. The white circle on the white background is invisible.
    - Add an outer glow effect to the circle, e.g.: Color: black (#000000), Normal mode, 20% Opacity, 3px Blur.
    => The white circle on white background will be almost invisible, despite the black glow, which is very, very faint.

    • Export the artwork to PDF.
    • Open the PDF file in Acrobat : the white circle is perfectly visible, the black glow can be clearly seen.

    Expected result:
    The glow should look the same in Illustrator and Acrobat.

    Actual result:
    The glow looks too light in Illustrator, and is rendered properly in Acrobat.

    If you set the glow's opacity to ~50% in AI, you will get in Illustrator the same rendering as 20% in Acrobat (but then of course, if you export the AI file to PDF, the 50% setting will appear much darker in Acrobat).

    This bug is obviously linked to a recent AI update. The rendering used to be consistent between AI & Acrobat.

16. Toggling Layer Visibility now Lags Greatly with each New Layer Added after introduction of Search to Layers

    In May 2022 (before Search Layers was added for example) you could have a file with 2600 layers and toggle the visibility on and off in less than a second. Now in June 2023 the same type of file takes 30 seconds to toggle the visibility of a single layer.

    Here's how to reproduce the BUG that has been introduced into ILLUSTRATOR now:

    I'm using a - Windows 10 Desktop
    Illustrator v 27.6.1
    ASUS Laptop with 40 GB of RAM
    1TB SSD drives and plenty of scratch disk and page file space.

    Reproduction Steps:

    1. create a new Illustrator document 1920x1080
    2. create 100 new blank layers
    3. on layer 100 just create a very simple shape like a rectangle
    4. copy all 100 layers (so now there are 200 layers)
    5. drag the new rectangle (on layer 200) over and give it a different color
    6. now copy all 200 layers (so now there are 400 layers)
    7. drag the two new rectangles (on layer 300 and layer 400) over and give them a different color
    8. now copy all 400 layers (so now there are 800 layers)
    9. drag the 4 new rectangles (on layers 500, 600, 700 and 800) over and give them a different color
    10. now copy all 800 layers (so now there are 1600 layers)
    11. drag the 8 new rectangles (on layers 900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600) over and give them a different color
    12. at this point you only have 16 shapes (rectangles) each with a different color, but there should be 1600 unique layers in the document (the other layers are just empty and blank for simplicity of this example to to show that it is not the complexity of the art causing the issue)
    13. select one of the layers with the visible rectangle in it and toggle the visibility of that simple shape and note how it take many seconds for the visibility of that simple layer to change
    14. in MAY 2022 Illustrator build a document far more complex than this simple example had no problem toggling a layer like this in less than a second with over 2600 layers, but now in JUNE 2023 there is a noticeable LAG that starts happening to toggling layer visibility as early as only 400 layers in an Illustrator file

    I've attached an example file below so you can see how the final test file should look like in case of issues following the above instructions in order to see and test the bug introduced in the newer version of Illustrator.

    Fixed in Beta 27.9 5. Please check if it works for you.

    At the test setup it now takes roughly 1 second to hide and show layers.

17. Can not "Save As" in Adobe Illustrator

    I'm using macOS Sonoma 14.1 on a iMac 27-inch monitor.
    After I upgraded to Sonoma I can not "Save As" any illustrator files in Illustrator 2023 or 2024. I can only save as if I open a previous file that I have saved on my hard drive before upgrading. I have made sure that I have "read/write" privileges but still no luck on saving new file unless I save it to iCloud. Has anyone had the same problem. I have researched on the web and have seen that this problem has been discussed for many years but this is the first time I have experienced this. I can not figure out if this is a app problem or a system problem because this problem never happened until I upgraded to Sonoma. Any advise is welcomed.

18. Registration point and boundaries of a certain symbol jump when a document is opened

    1. Open the attached document (and review the steps from the GIF)
    2. Notice the second symbol's boundaries are giant (although the registration point is displayed within the artboard), and the Symbols panel seemingly shows nothing in its thumb
    3. Double click the second symbol to edit it
    4. The symbol opens and jumps into the middle of its giant boundaries, and the registration point moves as well
    5. Exit the mode
    6. The symbol is now displayed in its intended place, has normal boundaries, has the registration point in the same place, has a normal thumb...
    7. ...but if you make other changes in a doc, save and reopen it — you’d get the the same exact problem as before.

    The appearance of the document is broken, and exporting it give wrong results. This is a very dangerous problem and leads to errors and money loss.

19. 線ウインドウパネル上矢印選択のスクロールを操作するとフリーズ

    2.　線ツールを選択し描写、矢印にするためウインドパネルで選択、
    スクロールバーを動かすと、カラーカーソル出現しフリーズ。
    3.　スクロールによる矢印選択ポップアップ内が移動することを想定

20. Tool window won't update content when clicking on a different tab

    This bugs seems to come on after a while of everything working normally.

    I have multiple windows (e.g. 3 - Character/Paragraph/Open type) grouped together on one panel. When I click on an unfocussed tab to bring that to the front, nothing changes. The content below remains the same.

    For example if 'Character' was in focus, and I wanted to access 'Paragraph' options. If I click on the 'Paragraph' tab, I still see the 'Character' options.

    This is also happening with the document tabs too. I click between my open documents and nothing changes on the artboard below.

    I am currently using Illustrator 2024 version 28.0 on a 2023 Macbook Pro 14" running OS Sonoma 14.0.

    Quitting and relaunching Illustrator seems to fix it.
