How to stop illustrator from smoothing scatter brush
Hello
I'm using Illustrator 2020 (24.0.1) on a macbook pro 2014.I'm having issues with the scatter brushes.
The lines that are drawn don't follow the curve that they're applied to.
They come out by segment, roughly following the curve.This issue has been already described in this adobe forum thread:

Math in Picas is Using Points not Picas
Document units set to picas. In width or height box on tool bar, enter "-3" and it subtracts 3 points. I expect — as it has done since time and eternity — to subtract 3 picas. The number should be the whole version of the document units, not a fraction thereof.

Plug In Error Message

Application became 'zoomed in' – the whole interface looks bigger. Using on 2nd monitor with Wacom tablet.

Missing lines in Metafile import
Importing Windows metafiles gives wrong results, as shown in the example emf attached (puzzle.png shows correct result when Paint opens the file, Illustrator.png shows wrong result in Illustrator).
I am using version below on Windows 10, but it is not a new or specific issue I think:

Object Selection by Path Only broken with symbols
In Preferences, under Selection and Anchor Display, check Object Selection by Path Only.
Create or open a document.
Drag a symbol out of the Symbol panel. Choose one with a large filled area.
Zoom in on the symbol.
With either of the 3 selection tools, drag over a filled part of the symbol. Do not drag over any paths.
It doesn't matter whether you're viewing in Outline or Preview.
The symbol becomes selected.
It should not become selected due to the prefs option noted above.
It worked correctly in v22 & CS6 etc. It's been close to a year with…2 votes -
Unable to scale a specific object
I am unable to scale one of the objects (letter P) in the attached file. Please advise. Thank you.

Illustrator Gradient looses blending when copied and pasted.
Trying to copy and paste a design with a gradient on it, And the gradient apears chunkier and sharper when copied into a new canvas. If i copy on the original canvas its fine, but not on a new one. Ive checked the grain values and opacity and they are all the same. Wondering if any one has a sultion to fix this bug?

Unable to Merge swatches, screen freezes
In latest version of Illustrator 2020, I am running the script that brings Swatch Conflict Dialog, which is ok but it does not allow me to merge swatches. I cannot select or change radio button selection. I have attached the screenshot of the dialog.
1 voteYou can disable alerts during script execution with below method
app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;
This assumes the default option selected in the dialog and proceed with further script execution.
Please let me know if the above suggestion works for you

Elements NOT Saving
Trying to understand why certain outlined text wont save and goes missing from .jpgs when exporting... Tried restarting, tried saving the file and bringing it to another window. Just another f***ing error.

App freezes or doesn’t render artboard if second monitor gets unplugged
Both Ps and Ai malfunction when using a second monitor.
Problem: when either application is open and I shut off, unplug 2nd monitor or close laptop with 2nd monitor still plugged in, the next time I am in either app the files I have open are frozen. Or when I open a new file there is no artboard shown.
The only resolve is to restart the program.1 vote -
Custoimised Brush stroke doesn't show
Using surface pen and customised brush doesn't show strokes until I let go off the pen or mouse. It only appears as red lines. Please fix it!

Please verify or disprove it.

New from Template Shortcut conflict
Illustrator 24.0 under macOS Catalina 10.15.1 (19B88)
The 'New from Template…' command in the File Menu has the shortcut ⇧⌘N, which is all well and fine, except it conflicts with the Type > Insert WhiteSpace Character > En Space, which has the exactly same shortcut, ⇧⌘N.
Assigning two commands to the same shortcut is rather bad form, with unreliable results.

3D revolve doesn't draw properly
I drew half a star, tried to revolve it but it doesn't always layer and shade the different parts correctly. Sometimes a cone appears outside of it. Another example in this screenshot, where there's a line visible straight through it and the shading is wrong in the top part:

PDF with CMYK JPEG is inverted when opened in Illustrator
Tested on Mac OS 10.14.6 with Adobe Illustrator 23.0.4
METHOD
open a PDF that contains a CMYK JPEG image in Illustrator
(This PDF was created by converting a CMYK JPEG file to PDF in Acrobat DC Pro 2019)RESULT
image is shown inverted in illustrator (same issue opened in Photoshop as "image").
Opening in Photoshop as "page" it looks ok, but this cannot be selected in Illustrator.PDF and original JPEG are attached.

disappearing swatch palette
i create custom names for swatches i.e. myCoolSwatch. then create gradient swatches. all swatches disappear but a few random and a pattern. if i try to create new swatch with artwork, default name is myCoolSwatch copy. Its as if they are hiding.

Make Hide Edges shortcut work when in Dialog (Swatch Options, Transform Each, etc)
In some operations (e.g. Transform Each), we discover that the selection edges are influencing the perception of the preview. It would be nice when the Hide Edges command can be triggered while still in such an operation, in stead of leaving the function, turn off Edges, and repeat.

svg text
Exporting SVG on Illustrator CC 2019 23.0.2 on MacOS 10.14.3 is giving inconsistent results in regards to text. I am trying to export a file as an SVG with Font option set to SVG. However, the SVG file exported has some texts converted to paths or outlines and some texts are preserved as texts, which is what is desired. We have also tried this under Illustrator CC 2019 23.0.1 on Windows 10 Home with same results. We have included a sample file for you to test.

We were able to confirm the issue that you see. The issue indeed does not happen with Illustrator 2018 (22.1).
We identified hyphenation as the potential culprit. To workaround the issue, either disable hyphenation in the Paragraph panel or make sure text does not get hyphenated.
