1. Properties panel broken since last update

   Since the last update the Properties panel is broken. Even if there is enough room for all information in the panel, it shows up cropped, with a scrollbar on the side. I have to drag the panel out of it’s window and then back again to fix this, every time I start Illustrator.

2. Illustrator crashes when using certain tools, when macbook goes to sleep, when left on too long, when selecting items (CMD+A)

   Going mad trying to fix this bizzare problem on my new 2019 Macbook pro.

   • Latest version of illustrator (24.1.2)

   -Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4, 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, MD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB
   Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

   Since maybe last month, illustrator has been crashing more and more frequently, and at the strangest of times. I have everything almost exactly the same on my 2018 Macbook Pro and Illustrator is totally fine on that one. I can't quite figure out what is going wrong with this laptop.

   For instance:

   -When I hit CMD+A it might crash (this is most recent, crash report linked).

   -Twice last week it crashed when I used type on path tool and altered the orientation (it actually started to spaz out when I started moving the orientation to under the line; This I could repeat with the same outcome)

   -Anytime the computer goes to sleep it will crash.

   -If I'm working with a content-heavy file, it might just crash for no reason.

   So I suspected maybe it was the CPU / GPU switching in my system preferences / energy saver, but turning it off has done nothing. I've completely re-installed illustrator, Creative Cloud, even refreshed my OS and still this problem reoccurs with Illustrator. I am starting to suspect something is not right with the new MBP 16" and Illustrator..

3. Illustrator Recent Files list on the welcome page is not updated until the application restart

   The Recent Files list on the Welcome page is not updated until Illustrator restart. E.g. you can create some new files and save them but they do not appear in the Recent Files welcome page. But they do appear if you restart the application.

   Windows 10 Pro RS5 x64, Adobe Illustrator CC v24.1.2 (x64)

4. Linked images/files got embedded after file [recovered]

   When Illustrator got crashed I reopen the file and the file got recovered with a message saying (could not find a plug-in to read the linked file "links". .....)

   and when I press (ignore) button I saw all my linked got missing and embedded also

5. Views not updating, tabs not updating.

   Views will simply stop updating in Illustrator. Outline view shows geometry that does not display in GPU preview mode.

   Similarly, when changing from document tab to tab, the window will "freeze" on one document and refuse to show the newly-selected document.

   None of this is remotely acceptable. I pay for and use the Adobe Suite as a professional tool, and I can't have daily failures. Trust in your products is swiftly eroding.

   Please advise a quick and permanent fix for these issues.

   System:

   Illustrator 24.2.1

   MacBook Pro
   2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
   32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
   AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB

6. Text path vanishes when moving it with selection tools (black or white arrows)

   Since updating to version 24.1.2 from Adobe Illustrator 2019, whenever I move text objects using any of the selection arrows, the highlighted path disappears during moving and only reappears when I stop moving the text object. This is frustrating as I can't see the baseline or centre point of the text object while trying to align it to something else. This never happened before I updated Illustrator. My OS is macOS Mojave 10.14.6, Illustrator version 24.1.2.

7. Inconsistencies in adding gradient swatches in Adobe software and Adobe's instructions for Illustrator gradient swatches are incorrect

   Only one of the methods listed on the Adobe Illustrator help page regarding adding gradient swatches actually works..

   There is no 'Add to Swatches' button in the Gradient menu (in fact, there is no Gradient menu, only a Gradient panel).

   Dragging the Gradient fill box from the Gradient Panel to the Swatches panel does absolutely nothing.

   Furthermore, the instructions 'Click the swatches menu in the Swatches panel and choose New Swatch' fails to explain the fact that you need to have your gradient selected and active in the active Fill or Stroke boxes.

   On top of all of this, all of these functions mentioned above work differently in InDesign and Photoshop. InDesign has an 'Add Gradient Swatch' button in the swatches panel. Since the Gradient panel has been updated in Photoshop, it now has 'Gradient Presets'.

   Still no consistency in Adobe software in 2020.

8. Excluding fill and stroke settings when applying a graphic style

   Intention: I want to have a graphic style for applying shadows (using the material UI shadow requirements)

   Because it does not seem to be possible to just copy and paste and existing effect of an element (like a drop shadow on a square element) I am using a workaround.

   I created a graphic style with my desired shadow. I noticed that when applying the graphic style to element, it overwrites its color and stroke values.

   I thought the setting "override character color" would prevent that from happening, but it doesn't. Every time I'm applying a graphic style it replaces the stroke and fill values, which is very annoying, as I want to keep the element's intended fill and stroke color.

   Also, why is it not possible to save effect presets (e.g. for drop shadows?). I mean, it is 2020.. this should be possible without any hassle.

9. Scripting: move selection to layer doesn't work if layer is not visible

   When moving selected elements to a layer, if that layer's visibility is set to false, it reports that it cannot move elements to a locked layer. However, it's not locked, it's just not visible. I do this all the time by physically dragging to a layer that is not currently visible. I was able to work around it by setting visibility to true, moving the elements, then making it false again, but it seems like a bug.

10. Icon enlarge for no reason

    This has been a little bit of a problem. I have latest version of Adobe Illustrator version 24.1.2 running macOS Catalina 10.15.4. It a little annoying and I thought the next update would have solve the issue but it did not. Here is a bug that is strange. Thanks!

    This option only works when you are viewing your documents as outline using CPU mode only, not GPU. While this is a known problem, voting for this issue is important for the team to estimate the importance of this limitation.

12. Window not showing

    From the Finder (MacOS X 10.15.4), I open a n illustrator Document. The app comes forward and I see a black screen. The "Window" menu tells me that the document is open BUT where? I don't see it (nope, I don't have a second monitor). Close the invisible window and the Window menu shows nothing open. Try again, from the finder and again, no windows look opened. Try from Illustrator, File/Open: same thing, another fail. Quit app, relaunch app by launching doc from the Finder. now the file opens as it should. Close file, try again. Back to the black screen. This started happening after this morning's (04/21/2020) update.

13. Fix Illustrator quitting 'unexpectedly' 10 times a day.

    Illustrator is only getting more buggy. Will start looking for other programs soon. Fix what you have, quit adding more problems. I want to be a graphic designer, not a software technician. Unexpectedly quits. Unexpectedly quits. Unexpectedly quits. Then I have to do your work to troubleshoot. What am I paying for? A buggy program that quits all the time and then I have to spend valuable time solving your problem. Seems to me with it quitting all the time, I shouldn't have to pay such a high premium for unreliable performance.

15. when I open Illustrator there are no tools showing

    I can't see my tools in Illustrator and I can't change or reset my Workspace :(

    I'm able to add some things like the Toolbar and Swatches/Layers/Etc windows, but I'm never able to see it complete, with that top bar that includes the Align + Transform + Etc

    Usually setting the Workspace to Essentials Classic does the job... please help!

16. duet for iPad pen stroke and pressure not working in illustrator (it does in photoshop)

    using iPad and "duet" to provide pen stroke and pressure (using wacom drivers on the mac/adobe side). This DOES work in photoshop so the connection is working but it does NOT work in illustrator.

17. No Rotate arrow for shapes

    When creating shapes with the shape tool, the rotate arrow no longer shows up. If I click in the area where the rotate arrow would normally be, the shape will rotate and the rotate arrow then appears. Any other object other that shapes work as usual when rotating. I end up scaling objects trying to guess where the rotate arrow would be.

    The annoying prompt to take the survey cannot be turned off. Even on completing it I am still prompted to take it - when you do its recognized you've already taken this. This survey prompt should be disabled at least when it's been taken once.

20. Pinch to Zoom not working

    Seems this issue has been beaten to death with no resolution...Pinch to zoom and two finger panning does not work for me. I am using a Dell XPS 15" 9570 with everything updated. Macbook does this feature flawlessly however not on windows. I know I am not the only one. PLEASE fix this issue.
